Nissanusa.com well David I’m glad you get to join us to talk about a Pistons loss yes look at that you are hilarious my friend you are smiling ear to ear you are Delirious you are smiling through the pain and we appreciate it having watched the hit lose to Detroit yes for
A third time this year a third time they lose this time 114 to 97 no Detroit you think would be just what the doctor ordered for your offense same thing with Washington by the way but no the offense was putrid as it’s been for quite some time and yeah they allowed 114
Defensively to Detroit David I just the good feelings they’re all washed away we tried to hold on to them for as much as we possibly could post trade deadline it’s just not working out again what were your main takeaways last night uh my main takeaway was as you guys know um
And excuse my voice I’m still fighting something guys last week I wasn’t here I was battling this but everybody’s going through it uh yesterday was the first day for legal betting in North Carolina I know your got did you guys hear about that did you guys hear about that I
Don’t know if you heard about that I’ve had to tell the people there are so many people that are mad at me right now for how many times I’ve told people really I haven’t been listening oh yeah yeah yeah yesterday was the first day Doug and um
The Hornets were a juicy 4 and a half Point Underdog right in Detroit and they were giving all kinds of specials away I mean you could get up to like $250 if you just want to plunk down a little bit of money I thought about it I mean I
Said four and a half Detroit Hornet you know and this was just a great lesson for everyone the gambling is bad it’s it’s a lot of fun but I unless you unless you gamble with FanDuel that’s right that’s right that’s right that’s right you could have had a
Lot of fun with FanDuel yesterday uh but not if you were watching the Hornets and you bet on the Hornets because my Lord they were not uh ready to go out there and battle these Detroit Pistons but I mean it it was just a reminder guys that
This is still the Hornets uh they are still who we thought they were in that when they get a lot of NBA players that are hurt and are not playing they still have to rely on some guys that aren’t you know really used to aren’t used to
Stepping up like that and that little mini blip they had when they had the new influx of the new blood and the new guys coming in um that seems to be you know gone by the wayside with with a lot of those guys going out right so I mean
It’s still the Hornets they’re still trying to figure out who they are my biggest conundrum is continues to be the miles miles Bridges situation what they’re going to do because it just feels like and credit to whoever put this on Twitter like it’s a lot of empty
Numbers and Doug I I think you may agree with me on this one but the miles Bridges production just doesn’t seem to impact winning much at all um and so I don’t know what you do with that I don’t know how they address that but to lose
To the Pistons again is frustrating to watch from a hornet standpoint because that’s when you’re like well at least they got to get that one and uh they just got they just got muscled they just got pushed out of the way could not get a rebound uh could not get a stop and
Could not keep anyone away from the basket and could not hold under the ball so it’s tough to win yeah I mean it’s pretty clear that miles is not a number one guy I mean that’s what we found out through this whole process and so he should not be
Paid commiserate of someone that would be a number one option He’s Just Not That guy but it’s probably a little unfair to say yeah empty stats because like all of these stats are empty stats when you’re missing so many pieces that you would need to actually compete on a
Night in Night Out basis now there are fair criticisms of his uh shot selection of his dribble selection full display last night on full display yeah I mean dribbling at the Double teams turning it over passes off Target but but all of that is a guy who is being placed into a
Position that he has no business being in because he h because honestly he has to like who else who else would you want making some of these plays other than Brandon and brand maybe some of that should shift more to Brandon that would be the criticism but that’s a smaller
Criticism when ultimately like I’d like to see what miles could do with you know 10 to 15 to 20 games with lamelo ball I don’t know if we’re going to get that this season but that’s really what you’d want to see uh so so that’s kind of my
Take on on Miles Bridges uh but this is look yes this is about the the bench unit having to rely on JT Thor minutes uh previously having to give Bryce mcgallen more minutes Nick Smith Jr is going to be a really good scorer in this league but he’s having to be a second
Point guard and that’s not what he is at all and he’s having to do it and and he’s not ready to play defense against some Elite guard play that he’s had to go up against and so that that’s that all is what it is but this is also about
A team that even with lamelo ball even with some of these pieces folds when they go up against a little bit of physicality size intensity and that’s what happened here you saw against Brooklyn that doesn’t have as much of that they were able to push the pace
Offensively they scored 25 or 26 points on the break and this one Detroit turned up the muscle just like they did in that first matchup early early in the season with lamelo ball and they got in The Hornet’s head and the Hornets weren’t able to score at all in the fast break
The the Pistons beat them uh 25 to4 and then in the turnover battle 25 to9 it was composure it was it was going up against a beefy team and saying we don’t got it and that’s until the Hornets turn that piece of their culture around it won’t matter how many guys they return
From the injury list they will still continue to lose games like that Detroit now after having owned them for much of the past what seven years or something like that the fact that they have these three wins now it’s frustrating because they are a terrible matchup they’re big and they decided to
Go after all of the centers you have James wisman taking dudes off of the dribble and slamming it you have Jaylen Duran who’s a bully down low and even beef stew who’s gotten a fight with this team you know already and then even you know went after I guess it was Jaylen
Durren that got in a fight with PJ with Dallas so whatever it is about the Hornets or Hornets related players Detroit ain’t here for it yeah I wonder what it is I wonder what what could be um irking Jaylen Duren about the Charlotte Hornets you know I mean if
Only the Charlotte Hornets could have drafted a guy like Jaylen dur you know Jaylen Duren would help you beat a team like the Detroit Pistons God I mean okay so let’s talk about the jayen thing real quick because I was talking I was watching this last night and I just like
He’s not uh I’ll be talking about it 10 years from now yeah well he’s jayen durren but I mean is he changing the trajectory of your franchise at this point I mean no like I mean we’d all would love to have him here uh it would
Be a nice bit of physicality but like I get it uh it seems like a really big swing and a miss uh trying to do that move and trade but I don’t know I I I I I think about on two levels like he’s not that guy but he looked like that guy
Against the Hornets to your point Doug I mean I just don’t think he’s like all NBA Center personally I mean I know he’s super young he’s he’s stacked but I don’t know I mean he’s got a long way to go for me like yeah like it’s not like
People like him he’s still good he’s been up and down but he does yeah he beats up on the Hornets like that’s what it is it’s it he’s and he’s a physical player he’s a great rebounder and that’s fun to watch he’s got highlight plays
It’s it’s a lot of what you thought he might coming out of college and he’s got good hands like yeah all that’s still true but he’s still up and down either way jayen Duren whoever it isance yeah yeah it’d be that’s it so well the only thing the only thing
That’s going to make me stop talking about Jaylen Duren and giving that pick up because again you could have had both durren and Mark Williams this is not about durren versus Williams you could have had both uh but the only thing that’s going to make me stop is if the
Pick that they ended up trading back for the worst pick ends up becoming you know uh the Sixth Man of the Year if it’s if Nick Smith Jr takes off then then I’ll quit talking about it but until then I’m upset that’s a weird that’s a
Weird that’s a bar I mean no six month now we know where the line is though now know line I didn’t realize that was the goal if we get six man of the year then that’s the reason that Doug stops talking about jayen Duren all right we
Can talk more about this game and um I guess a little bit more of you know what we expect from the Hornets coming up next let’s do it with David Walker continuing to help us out on the Pod here coming up next on locked on Hornets
Don’t go to sleep on the Hornets just yet Doug still needs to release that statement I guess still talk about players that he wanted the Hornets to draft and continue to say we would be different if those Hornets drafted the players that he wanted to we’ll get to

Things that he got wrong yesterday and people let him know about it for sure and so now Doug has a response to the people that caught him and anybody else that might be affected by his wrong statement yesterday Doug what do you have for the people yeah this was uh
Just to let everyone know the context of this we were discussing uh pov’s debut for the Charlotte Hornets we praised povi in that segment uh but we got a few of our facts I I don’t want to say we I don’t want to rope Walker into what I’m about to do here
Uh I got some facts wrong and I’ve got to set the record straight so if we could bring the bring the camera in close thank you yeah no problem yeah the people of Serbia are a proud people and they deserve our respect yesterday on the show I said two things that were very
Offensive to them number one I said that there are only three serbians playing in the NBA that was a gross miscalculation there are in fact six players of Serbian descent in the NBA nikolic boban marianovich bdan bogdanovich Alex pocoski nikovic and vasilia meic I’m well aware that Serbia has a long
History in the NBA dating back to Hornet’s Legend Vlad dvac ped yakovich Vladimir radmanovich Igor rosich jelo Raba NAD christic Mia ilich and Darko michic among many many more and that’s before we even get to players who are still active overseas like nman beita Milos teodosic Marco garich Allan smic
Philip petev Onan kusmich namman nvic and Miroslav rulit second in my haste to bring a disgruntled Superstar to the city of Charlotte I incorrectly identified Luca donic as Serbian he is in fact Slovenian I insulted two ations the Slovenian people are a proud people and they deserve our respect Luca donic joins
Vatco canar in a long line of Slovenian NBA players that includes Bobcat’s Legend Primos breich Goran draik zoron draic Charlotte Hornets Legend Mike Toby bino udic Sasha vuic and Anthony Randolph in closing I apologize whoa it’s different wow okay thank you Doug nothing there it is okay I have a baby
And that baby has poisoned me as you can tell my voice poisoned me with a stomach bug followed by a cold I’m fatigued the fact that I’m on the air praising my Balkan bees my Balkan Bros should be enough for you okay also Luca Don’s father is of Serbian descent so I was
Half right anyway and where was Walker by the way and all of this he’s the radio professional why didn’t he fact check me these are the real questions that need answers Serbia thank you and you’re welcome I would have I wasn’t listening so I’d have no clue that you had that
Many mistakes I just kept moving on but that was excellent thank you for apologizing for nothing the people will be disappointed but not surprised and we thank you for everything that you had to say there David um did yeah did you have any did you have any com ments on what
Doug has to say do you think like that was an appropriate statement for the people I mean listen I I thought we had an actual apology coming out um but you know we were as close as I think we’re ever going to get folks so just take
That for what you will and uh you know certainly well research but I Doug I for one don’t blame you at all well I think you could even say that I did it on purpose just to make sure that people from Serbia were checking us out on
YouTube that was actually uh that was actually me just fishing to make sure the people were listening so really I didn’t get get anything wrong uh David what did you think about the debut of povi what he’s bringing to the team what potentially he could bring to the team
As part of this balk and bro connection with him and meic balk and Bros yeah you know I thought he might be in that or I guess there was Rumblings off of being in that trade originally from the OKC Thunder so it’s good on the Hornets for
Waiting it out and getting more OKC Thunder scraps um you know I I I think it’s another uh NBA rotation player they can throw in there uh liked what I’ve seen from him thus far but again like they’ve got to get the rest of their
Guys back but I think he’s he’s he’s an interesting piece to at least take a look at right I mean you’ve got to continue to get those guys on the court kind of in the system and see how they fit um he had a couple breakaways last
Night he’s certainly not going to be anyone that jumps over people out of the gym had one he had one he had one good one that that Brandon Miller he leaked out and Brandon Miller found him wide open and then the second one there were two Pistons there
Waiting for him on that leak out they learned their lesson and he sort of fumbled it up in the air so yeah there was some good and some bad one contact yeah not bringing physicality he’s not g to have the physicality we’re looking for yeah it was it was terrible to watch
To be honest with you with that play I was it was it was a layup and it didn’t even look like the Pistons came there with bad intentions it just seemed like they were there to defend the rim and poku did not give them a shot to bring
Those bad intentions and instead he just threw the basketball up in the air yeah but like he he’s a guy that like has had a spurt he’s had a moment or two like in the league like in for OKC like a couple week run or or he’s had spots where he’s
Been uh impactful in games like that’s what the Hornets should be trying to bring in at this point if they can get scraps from somewhere else you know maybe they find a diamond in the rough or maybe they find someone uh that’s been cast off from from their previous
Spot so like obviously there’s I you know nothing wrong with it um but you know is is it how they’re going to build some of their depth maybe um so I was kind of a fan of the move but you know uh it’s just another piece they’re just
Trying to build I think a foundation on so yeah good on them all right let’s you got something else Doug real quickly before we move on uh yeah I’ve got a question for uh both of you Jens uh so I wrote this in every Hornets box score
This was a six game and 10 contests of the Hornets failed to reach the century mark they have not scored 100 points in six of those 10 contests so the offense is obviously struggling a lot of that is the bench unit uh and and the guys that they’ve lost and the guys
That they’re having to start because I mean if you look at this Detroit game right it was about the bench but it’s also about the fact and Clifford even mentioned this after the game like the start to this game and even the start to the win against Brooklyn and the start
Against the Wizards was awful by the starters they’re not look if you’re going to have a bench full of g-league not even Allstars just g-league players then and I don’t mean that disrespectfully that’s just sort of reality right if you’re going to have that then you got
To build a lead to lose it you can’t you know you can’t go uh you know 13 to 12 against the Detroit Pistons them having a one-point lead in the first six minutes of that game so so that’s one thing but the the thing that I wanted to
Ask you was that Brandon Miller has shot 30% or under from three in his last three contests and in seven of his last nine games David are you a little bit worried about Brandon Miller’s shot going away from him no I mean you have to be expecting
At some point from a rookie I think at this point there was talk of him maybe bypassing the rookie wall or stepping around it uh I just think he doesn’t believe in it right right right well then uh like dinosaurs round Earth theory you know people don’t believe in
That stuff I’m not saying Brandon doesn’t believe in that I’m sure he does believe in that well I’m not sure we haven’t asked him about it I think Walker you should ask him about it uh being being the person on the ground in the in the in the back of the Arena but
Uh think you’re worried about he doesn’t believe in the rookie wall yeah yeah I mean and it could just be a blip right but he’s he’s still continuing to get in and and get that mid- rage man he’s got one of the best sweetest looking mid-range games I think like in the
League at this point honestly for as young as he is he still continues to find his spot I like you know he’s we’ve talked about his fieriness in the past and you saw a little bit of that last night got a technical on on a play that
He felt that he you know took some contact on and made a basket and he and he was correct he did take take some contact uh but welcome to Charlotte you’re not going to get that call not going to get that welcome to Charlotte but welcome to the current iteration of
The Hornets right because I think that’s a good point David he’s taking a lot of contact he’s taking a lot of of defensive heat right now even more so than Miles Bridges he’s getting more attention from defenses than any other player and they only have one point
Guard I mean that’s to me and I don’t know Walker if you agree with this or not but to me you look at that that stat I just gave you 30% or under from three in seven of his last nine and I’m going give like let’s get B back like let’s
Get some point guard not even lamelo Ball but even just a secondary playmaker on this squad because his shots aren’t as good as they were earlier in the season the idea is that Brandon can be that takeover guy it’s not going to happen in year one so we’ll see what how
He is able to handle all of that defensive pressure as he moves up in the nbaer with this terrible team right now with a lot of guys that are injured where you have different players that are in and out you can’t even develop chemistry with the players that aren’t
Very good right now can’t even develop chemistry with them no not worried about it whatsoever it’s three game slump now like if the sample size at least over the last month probably has favored more so bad shooting from Beyond The Arc maybe not month but like two weeks but I
We know Brandon Miller’s stroke is so pure I’m not worried about it at all all right we have one more segment to go coming up next on the lockdown Hornets podcast don’t go to sleep on the Hornets just yet we give our final Pistons takes and then hear what David thinks about

Ahead all right rapid fire final Pistons thoughts David you go first what else did you want to say well I I think one name we haven’t mentioned with the Pistons was K Cunningham you know they had their guy out there running the show uh and the Hornets clearly did not and
That makes a big difference and Kade was hurt for a lot at the end of last year lamelo’s out now uh looks like probably for the end of this year we should guess but uh so that makes a big difference and let’s not forget guys uh the Pistons
Were picked were the were the sexy pick to be a sleeper and I’m sure they will be next year and the year after that because they’re every year they’re the darling of the and they’ve not only uh underachieved but I’ve been one of the worst teams in the League this year but
They had a lot of their guys back last night and uh that makes a big difference you know that makes a huge difference and it’s making a difference for the Hornets right now um so you know all in all a horrible loss yes but you know
They had all their guys and they put it on the orance go ahead Doug yeah Cunningham was was great because they really tried multiple things they tried doubling them they tried you know going over the top on these pick and rolls and and he just every time they tried now they did limit
Him from three uh but he scored 22 points he had eight assists and Duren and beef stew were the big beneficiaries of those assists and so when you have guys that can finish inside that’s the difference between Pistons Brooklyn you know you attack you double male you
Double cam but they can’t get it to anyone that can actually finish inside they’ got to pass it around the perimeter gives the Hornets defense time to recover they just had no time to recover U so I mean you saw several times the the weak side Defender try to
Come over but it’s like what are you going to do against Duran’s you know Dwight Howard like shoulders I don’t know so my my other takeaways are just you know back to the mile stuff I mean I look at the third quarter the Hornets were down 16 they get a stop and Miles
Bridges with 16 seconds left on the shot clock pulls up with a foot on the line and Miss just awful shot yep that’s the kind of shot he loves to take when the Hornets are in panic mode and it’s the kind of shot I doubt he would take very
Much um if lamelo were flying around other rapid fire stuff I thought the officiating was bad the discrepancy was bad part of that was the Hornets not being aggressive enough enough driving looking for contact but I thought the officiating was particularly poor in this game as well uh and then and then
Final thing was Bridges at the end of the game uh getting his pocket picked by Jaylen Duran and kind of turned around immediately and looked at me because this was way away from their own basket this was in the back and he looked at me like Hey where’s the you know how about
You tell me the Duran’s behind me and meic was just like not my fault not my which I love it meic pulling a pulling a trick from my bag there but we have but my point is we haven’t seen this team so far through all of the adversity through
All of the injuries through all of the losses for the past two seasons we have not seen this team come apart visibly now maybe it’s happened behind the scenes a couple of times but we’ve not seen it on the court this was the first little glimmer of you know frustration
Starting to boil over we’ll see if that continues and one one quick thing I know we’re banging on Miles uh and sometimes easy to do but like Clifford’s been pretty complimentary of what he’s brought lately uh just as far as being engaged and and being active and like
Doug do your point earlier it’s it’s probably unfair to lay all this obviously on on Bridges but you know I think the expectation was he might be able to be that guy and and and you said it earlier it’s it’s hard to imagine him being that number one option at this
Point just seeing how things are going but it’s it’s tough for everyone out there there’s no one to set him up uh and you’re right like if lamelo’s out there maybe they pull it out maybe they take a little more time let him find something else to do but uh you know
It’s just it’s all around a tough sleding right now and a lot of times miles decision making uh doesn’t help doesn’t help out in in the short term so yeah my my final takeaway as we talk about miles more I I’m starting to as this is an evaluation process where Jeff
Peterson called this the last 20 games yeah it’s a small sample size but it’s better than no sample size he’s got a decision to make on Miles Bridges which is the most you know noteworthy contract that’s coming off of the books as he hits unrestricted free agency and he has
The decision to hit on Steve Clifford and Steve Clifford and the Hornets just lost a game to the Wizards and they lost the game to the Pistons no they don’t have all of their guys here but those still aren’t great losses and so we’ll see how Jeff reacts to all of this how
Much do you want to change because while it’s true that lamelo isn’t out there and you don’t have a good bench all of that’s true this is a team that is depleted and already not extremely talented anyway but if you want to operate that at least one player is
Going to be injured for however many games of the Season then you do have Brandon and can Brandon miles be on that same team or do you just want to use the money that you would spend on Miles and spend it elsewhere how much do you
Really want to change from the team that makes it to the play in then gets blown out or make it at all because if you bring back miles then yeah Brandon Miller Mark Williams that changes the calculus a little bit but you’re keeping 60% of your core with a team that gets
Blown out in the playin with a guy that still has a high usage percentage and I expect to still take a lot of shots so are you g to bring miles back and then you’ll have to figure that out about Steve Clifford how much do you want to
Change that’s the question that will be here for Jeff Peterson we’ll try to get to David’s thoughts in a moment but Doug you have some thoughts on what I said yeah because look I can guarantee you there will be another team in the off season that looks at Miles Bridge’s play
And says okay he didn’t have lamelo ball we have a player that is like that and if we pair miles with that player he will be very good for us it will be a competitive market the Hornets will have a little bit of an advantage and to me
The question for Jeff is how much do you want to change and how much do you want to pay if you don’t want to change right like how do you really want to use that whatever monetary Advantage you have to resign miles Bridges how much of that do
You want to go over the top of another team in order uh to keep to keep that core together a core that has not experienced success together because the frustrations that we saw from miles if this team stays healthy and is unsuccessful in the first half of next
Season and they’re healthy that’s when you’re going to start to see some frustrations of like hey we’ve all been together yes we’ve been injured here and there we’ve all been together for for a long time and we haven’t won anything and that’s frustrating so it’s a big
It’s a big risk David did you find anything interesting about what Jeff Peterson had to say in any of his Min media stops whether it be the presser the W pod Kyle Bailey Queen City News anything like that anything that you found interesting yeah you know uh I’m
Just obviously impressed with like a lot of his background and and like his Furious like note taking and and his attention to detail it seems to be uh Paramount for him but I think the biggest thing is like he’s just the polar opposite of what they’ve been
Rolling out there as far as front office goes like he’s a young guy what 35 36 years old um and so to Doug’s Point that’s a fine yeah what sorry to Doug’s point you know he’s just got there are the decisions are mounting and like it’s
Fascinating to me how he’s going to um analyze the Brandon and lamelo Brandon or lamel like that that that conversation seems to be popping up more and more and they got to be moving forward with the thought that they’re both going to be here but uh how he’s
Going to build this team how he’s going to analyze any of the depth that he’s got is is the thing that’s the biggest question for me and but I I just think you know getting new blood in there getting some new conversations around this team and its leadership on the
Bench as well uh you know it’s going to be a fascinating offseason for him within the national media there doesn’t even seem to be a debate anymore about whose team this everyone seems to be quickly just moving to like no this is Brandon Miller team you’ve got to
Operate like that so it’ be really interesting to see what happens when lamelo ball is fully healthy he comes back and if look he didn’t exactly come into the league wanting to immediately be a leader you know scoot Henderson was talking that game you know coming into
The draft period he wanted to come in and immediately be a leader that wasn’t Lamela Ball’s attitude and and there was a lot of giving the keys talk between Terry Rosier and and lamelo but it didn’t seem like lamelo was like super eager to like take that rign so it might
Be a relief to him in fact if Brandon Miller comes in like he has and says look I’m I’m a young leader on this team uh it could it could uh just give a little cover for lamelo I think and allow him just to do what he loves to do
Which is go out there and and play the game free of some of those thoughts yeah and I wonder what else you know the Panthers went through this uh like when Cam Newton came in uh they tried to clean out the locker room and one guy they moved on from was Steve Smith
Because he was a loud voice he was somebody been here for a long time and I think the thinking was at that point that it was going to be tough for anyone new to come in and take over the locker room with that presence there now the
Hornets have never really had a vocal presence but they’ve certainly had somebody in a miles Bridges who has been an overhanging presence for the franchise and the organization for a long time and he feels like he is part of the organization now so that’s going
To be a question I think do they want to give the keys fully to these young guys and Brandon Miller and lamelo and and get a fresh start because that’s you know that’s going to be the next question do you pair him with a new
Coach you got a new front office guy um so yeah a lot of things to figure out well I I know like I know that lamelo has rookie of the year he has Allstar but I mean just in terms of the core young players because of everything that’s happened with injuries and
Mistime because of felony domestic violence charges like the veteran core on this team just in terms of games played it’s not like it’s not like they’ve been around the block a ton more than Brandon Miller at this point it’s not going to be what I’m saying is it’s
Not a hard sell to say Brandon Miller is the leader of this team next season no no but can you do it with with some of those guys still in the locker room you know what I mean I mean can you do it miles is still there I don’t know we’ll

Made some money off of the FanDuel and DraftKings 1 point scored promotions but with how heartbreakingly I lost my parlay (placed with bonus bet money) I’ll have a hard time wanting to 🎶bet the buzz🎶 with real money in the future
HOR should trade draft pick tbh. Find a starter in FA or something
Well done Doug. Love from Serbia
WHERE IS UPDATE ON MARK & Melo injuries.
Idc if melo still pregame workout.
Now apologize to BM 😂
Poku was the only player with positive +/- in the last game… +12 in little bit over 10m of play.
The apology was top tier better than any YouTuber I’ve seen.
Doug is absolutely amazing
I swear if the Pistons get a better pick overall pick then us…
If Kia Jones never did what he did,he'd be getting alot of burn right now. Him & Bouknight are 2 waste of first round picks that hurts
Beat down by the Pistons again.
Man I thought this was gonna be a Brandon Miller apology smh
Doug, I'm proud of how you took accountability for your actions and thoroughly prepared your apology.
Anyone noticed they started playing bad when Micic started ball hogging? All the dribbling with his right hand leading to turnovers. Just pass the ball and stop shooting so much. He thinks he’s Lamelo!
