We are coming up on the conclusion of the 2023 2024 NBA season in a team that consist of CJ McCullum Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson they have only been in the National Spotlight once this season and that was when it was for the criticism of Zion Williamson and we all

Know what that criticism was about about Zion’s weight about his health whether he was in shape or not and some networks like ESPN and some Talking Heads like Stephen A Smith was completely blowing things out of proportion and I thought he was overexaggerating a little bit

Both on first take and on his podcast I thought he made some some pretty crazy jokes or some pretty crazy accusations but we all know Stephen A Smith wouldn’t be who he is if he didn’t OV exaggerate at times and even NBA legends like Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal

They had some things to say about Zion’s Health weight and conditioning um and that and that’s and that’s fair I think it’s okay for everyone to have their opinion and I know that’s what I know that’s what their job is but what happens with the national media they fail to take everything into

Consideration at times we look at the first 19 games of the season for the New Orleans Pelicans they’re missing Trey Murphy and I know we look at a player like Trey Murphy a lot of people might not know who he is and I don’t know if

You guys watch TNT man but them guys do not really know um who these guys are outside of the the the stars on the basketball team but Trey Murphy is a player that means um so much to the New Orleans Pelicans um I know you look at him he might not

Be a top four top five player on the team but the what he what he what he brings impact in his ability to shoot the ball that means a lot for guys like Zion Williamson and um Brandon Ingram because Trey Murphy is one of the few

Players in the NBA that can stand three four five feet behind the three-point line spotting up and still be a threat to knock down a three-point shot so when you have guys getting down hill like Brandon Ingram and and and Zion Williamson having Trey Murphy out there

Spot up makes a huge difference versus him not being out there and then also CJ McCullum he goes down with a collapse lung this season misses 48 games I mean um has only played 48 out of the 64 games this season so that’s a huge chunk of time without your two best Shooters

Um on the court and and looking at Trey Murphy looking at him coming back he is finally whipping into that Trey Murphy that we’ve seen over the last two years um returning from injury in the month of January and a little bit in the month of February he struggled with his three

Point shot a little bit only knocking down 29% of his threes but that all comes with getting back into game shape and um getting your legs back under you since the All-Star break Trey Murphy has been nothing short of fantastic he’s averaging 22 um 22.83 points per game

Off the bench and he’s knocking down his three-point shot at 42% so um having him back out on the court having CJ McCullum back out on the court it has been big time for the New Orleans Pelicans and then one thing another thing that the New Orleans

Pelicans should be excited about is that I think we’re finally about to see a postseason a time where it’s like some meaningful basketball and they have their two Best Wings on their Court I don’t know if we consider Zion a wing because he’s a freak of nature that can

Do a little bit of everything but they’re going to have their two best players in their supporting casts out there for the playoffs and this is going to be so big time for the New Orleans Pelicans but looking at the health of these two guys Brandon Ingram and Zion

Williamson it’s like over the last couple of years we’ve saw them go through some injuries that keep them out for a very long periods of time or in some cases keep them out for the rest of the season this year that just simply hasn’t been the case if they’re missing

Games it might do um it might be to them having to play in the back back to back where they might have some little knick-knack injury but nothing too serious so far this season um Brandon Ingram for the New Orleans Pelicans he has played 58 out of the 64 out of the

64 games I think um he deserves a lot of credit for that because we know it’s been hard it’s been a struggle for him staying on the court and the same thing with Zion Williamson he’s played 53 out of the 64 games so I think this is so

Big time for the New Orleans Pelicans now we’re looking at a team I think the the New Orleans Pelicans they are so built for playoff basketball because they are so balanced they’re so balanced with everything they’re balanced with the way that they can score the ball from inside and out they’re balanced

With the age on the team as far as young guys as far as veterans and they’re also balanced with what they can do defensively um with their lineups putting Zion up the five going big with jonis putting a big that can kind of do a little bit of everything um on the

Court with Larry n so the New Orleans Pelicans by the time that playoffs come around they’re going to be very very dangerous and I just want to run back and talk a little bit more in depth about Zion William and and why I think he’s going to be so critical by the time

The postseason arrives and I mean critical I don’t mean X Factor type of way I’m saying what he’s going to be doing to other teams and to his opponents is going to be critical now right now Zion Williams and he’s averaging 22 points per game five assists five rebounds and he’s shooting

Almost 60% from the field I believe he’s around 58% but what’s so impressive about Zion’s numbers is that um the the New Orleans Pelicans they they’ve kind of been pacing him this season he’s only playing 30 minutes per game so in 30 minutes he’s averaging 225 and five and

I think that’s so impressive and since the allstar Break um it’s like Zion Williamson is getting better and better each night as a basketball player because now he’s just not impacting the game with his ability to be unstoppable inside the paint but now he’s passing the basketball a lot more he’s making

Himself um he’s decoying himself a lot more to make life a lot easier for his teammates whether it’s getting hockey assist or getting a direct um getting a direct assist and also he’s ramping things up on the defensive side of the ball when we we saw Zion at Duke univers

Duke University we saw him making some crazy defensive plays getting blocks um getting Steals and actually when he played that Duke I believe he had like and he had a bunch of steals and a bunch of I was just reading about it I forgot

How much it was but he had a bunch of steals and a bunch of blocks while playing at Duke so Zion Williamson I think he is um starting to take things a littleit a lot more serious Coach Willie Green said he thinks we’re about to see

Peak Zion pretty soon so I think by the time the playoffs come around 22 points per game we’ve seen it over this first couple of years Zion Williamson he can score the ball he can score the ball at um he can score the ball with ease but

Like I said we talk about the balance of this New Orleans Pelicans team during the regular season I think it’s very smart to to lean on that when you have other guys that can score the ball like CJ McCullum Brandon Ingram yonis valent Tunis we talked about how Trey Murphy

Has just been so explosive since the NBA allar breaks on now with Zion Williams and not having to do so much during the regular season I expect when the when the rotation shorten and and your starters are playing more minutes Zion Williamson he’s not just going to be

Averaging 22 points per game same thing with Brandon Ingram Brandon Ingram has kind of been paced throughout this season as well I talked about this in my last Pelicans video that you don’t usually see teams in the the best teams in the in the um that’s in the hunt for

The playoffs contending for a championship during the regular season we don’t really see the two best players on the team Zion Williams at 30 minutes and Brandon Ingram at 33 minutes per game that’s not really something we see we look at all these other teams throughout the West their best players

Are playing 35 36 minutes per game so Brandon Ingram he’s kind of been been paced this season to but the same thing with him by the time the playoffs come around we seen what he did against the Phoenix Suns I watched every game of that series and Brandon Ingram looked

Like the best player on the court it looked like he w n and and and they he had Mike kill bridges on him and this wasn’t the same Michel Bridges today that’s not really what he was defensively because he’s doing so much on the offensive side of the ball but

That was Mike Kel Bridges when he was just strictly shoot threes and lock down the opposing team’s best player and Brandon Ingram was out there cooking him so uh Brandon Ingram he he takes his game to a whole new level in the playoffs and then they have a Savvy

Veteran guard at the point guard position who can knock down the three-point shot and who’s been in so many Big Time playoff games and that’s CJ m so um the New Orleans Pelicans man no nobody realizes all of these things about this team they sit at fifth place currently in the Western Conference

They’re like two games behind the Los Angeles Clippers and with the way things are shaping up in the Western Conference nothing is set in stone right now with the injuries to the Timberwolves um the Oklahoma City Thunder they’re a really good team but I don’t think they’re

Invulnerable the only team that I think is really invulnerable right now is the timber nuggets I watch those guys play and I just think like you know what’s the answer for this perfect starting five this perfect offense that they have out there but the Western Conference

Playoffs is going to be so exciting guys like um if we get LeBron James in there we get the Los Angeles Clippers in there the New Orleans Pelicans and then you have the young teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder and you have the uh the the um the Minnesota Timberwolves all these
