Lakers/Kings Postgame, J.Worthy, Bron, AD, Reaves, Fox, Coaches Reactions | March 13, 2024

Lakers lose an important one as Sacramento continues their dominance over the Lakers they’ve now won five in a row they sweep the season series for the first time since 20156 sa bonis another big night we’ll get into that in a little bit the kings make 18 threes

They’re plus 15 in that category but it was once again a a bad third quarter uh big game that kind of separated the Kings from the Lakers in this one yeah I mean Sacramento obviously you’re 0 and three against they have your number already seems like and it continued um

Yeah I mean the Lakers put up a good fight for a little while but you’re right G the third quarter and too much of sabonis physicality just took ad out of the game early first half we got nothing from our big three and um it was just one of those

Games where it just seemed like they just weren’t mentally into it you know what I’m saying Barnes getting threes muray getting thre there’s just too many easy opportunities and then you know for the Lakers not to be able to respond to that even though they were chipping away at

It I just didn’t think they had they were mentally ready and mentally ready to compete and that’s that’s not good you got to be able to compete with a team that’s pounded inside kicking your butt around a little bit sometimes I think when you you can focus on the

Player that killed you last time you play him a little a little too much and I thought the way they was playing the Aon Fox was great but it allowed Barnes to get open Barnes had a lot of wide open threes and I think tonight he was

Seven for 11 for three keeg Murray even Ellis who went to Alabama I didn’t have a clue he was this good you know you got guys that come out and do things like you said step up and go beond but what they used to doing is going to kill you

And you look at like you said that third quarter we only scored what 17 points in that third quarter and it was like it was almost like they someone had sucked the energy out of the Lakers and like also restarted the game all great you know that third quarter we just showed

There Rob and you and I were watching it together at that that moment it was a 10-2 run the first 5 minutes the Lakers had zero field goals the only two baskets big game were were ad free throws um so in four minutes and 30 seconds he had zero field goals he also

Had five turnovers in that span so that third quarter just not coming out with that sense of urgency before we get to Lakers struggles big aame sabonis uh you you mentioned the physicality uh once again uh another big game triple double again just had one against the Lakers in

La he is League leading 23rd triple double yeah and if you’re not ready to compete with that I don’t care how talented you are uh he’s going to win those battles uh and you know he’s strong he doesn’t mind hitting your body if you’re not if you’re not able to

Compete with that like I see that ad had 22 and 10 but I don’t remember that his dad was a big strong guy he learned something from his that but this guy’s a student of the game you know he watches the game he learns everything he did

Tonight was all what yish does he uses his right arm or his left arm to beat you off with to give him position because he’s not the most athletic guy he can’t you know he ain’t going to be a big shot blocker he’s a contester and so

He’s the type of guy who’s going to beat you up get position because he’s strong and when you do that you got to match physicality with physicality and everything I tell kids when you watch it it’s best to hit before you get hit you know it’s like boxing you hit someone

Before they hit you you don’t want to get hit they get woken up you want to hit them to let them know that it’s going to be a physical game and that’s what yish does that’s what this guy does they be hitting our guys and then we

Take it like looking at the ref like oh you’re not going to call it you got to man up and hit them before they hit you to let them know we ain’t having it tonight yeah you saw uh sabonis there with his family lighting the beam after

A win in Sacramento so that is five in a row total uh I believe it’s eight out of nine or something like that the first time they swept him since 20156 let’s talk about the Lakers struggles guys uh LeBron only had nine going into the fourth quarter was one of those rare

Games for him he did make a little run there in the fourth dowlo just two for nine uh dowlo just six points and uh we already talked about ad and his struggles to get going he got it going late as well but um just struggling all all the way around big

Game and listen those three have a lot of pressure on them because they they carry the load you know Austin re and ruy got going with the bench another night with lack of production From the Bench but you but that’s that’s their job I mean that’s the the starter’s job

Is to to come out and and get things done you’re going to have games going to have a game like this or two but to me after losing three in a row to a team that you know how they play and then you come out and play the same way it’s to

Me it’s unacceptable in my book where I look at it yeah yeah yeah when you when you look at what I look at our bench our bench is not really a scoring bench yeah you know they’re more of a defensive bench if you look down the the bench tan

Prince known for his defense knocked down a couple of Threes you know then didn’t really used to get into the system and then Jackson Hayes you know he’s a he’s a filler you know he run the court get lobs get offensive rebounds so I don’t really I don’t really care too

Much about that it’s about are you able to stop the team’s bench the other team bench and the other team bench came out and did work when I say that I’m kind of Ellis as those guys that come out the bench cuz he’s not normally the starter

Those are the guys you got to stop from you know stepping up because everybody was looking at bench you didn’t know he went to Alabama I didn’t even know with the Alabama and you look at the benches like not letting those guys get above their average when you get above their

Average the guys off the bench then you’re in trouble Austin re 28 ad 22 sabonis is 23rd triple double Harrison Barnes 23 here in Fox with 21 Second Chance points for the Kings 16 Lakers just four let’s hear from Darin ham peing with Mike jel on the media we

Talked about some of the circumstances you know having lost to Sacramento and you know the the day off and Sacramento on a back to back were you disappointed with the game tonight or where did you see things shift the execution L uh one of the things I just told him we can’t

Skip details um you have some guys didn’t shoot the ball well got great looks they normally make uh but just in the sense of Team Basketball uh just just continuing to have a next play mentality you turn the ball over or you know it’s a quick shot

We not our shot selection is a little bit off you have to calibrate and and and try to you know play the right way and again do it as a unit not not just individually trying to get yourself going if you trying to get yourself going then we’re staying organized

Within what we’re supposed to be doing then great but we can’t skip the details just the the the normal habits uh defensively starting with transition defense um making sure we get in position you know um turnovers got the little bit best of us in the second

Half um I have to go back and watch the game obviously but just again the details you in their building they’re rocking and rolling uh they put themselves in a position to come in with a lot of energy the way they played Milwaukee yesterday so uh couldn’t rely

On them to be fatigued and uh with us just you know imposing our will consistently giving multiple efforts in that next play mentality we’ve been doing a phenomenal job against some really good ball clubs in those two areas giving multiple efforts doing the little things and uh having a next play

Mentality good batter and different no matter what happens on the basketball floor and were you were you expecting to see that like what you just talking about the multiple efforts in like in a game like this and is that the is that part oh absolutely absolutely they

Understand what’s on the line in terms of trying to secure a position in the postseason um we’re in the same boat um and you know they’re they’re playing like a hungry ball Club we’ve been playing like an extremely hungry ball Club uh but you know you’re going to have

Nights where things don’t go your way you know shots don’t go in you have to find other ways um to to you know impact the game but again without looking at the film just feel like it’s a lot of little things that we didn’t do as a

Unit coach ham um you just mentioned the uh turnovers you guys had 14 turnovers but the Kings had uh 11 steals uh what did you see anything in that as far as uh you know the ball handling um this is you got to do things in Rhythm you got

To you got to you know we talk about running habits our Pace setting good screens touching the ball with the paint and passing on time on target it’s as simple as that if you hold it for two three four extra seconds or take two three four extra dribbles now you’re

Just increasing the uh the um the the ACC not accuracy but but you you’re just proving um or allowing the defense to be that M much more dictative if that makes sense you know the slower yeah the slower the slower you play or you’re not getting in and out of actions

That just a team like that that plays with so much energy on both sides of the ball you got to make the right play when it’s right there in front of you and it’s it’s simple it’s just doing your work early LeBron ad and dowlo I think

Combined to start the game 8 for 32 when I guess in that sample size I think it was for the first three quarters what were you seeing out of their looks as a group um do you think it was shots that they normally made uh and when that does happen you lean more

Even more into ruy and AR who had it going or you had to kind of keep going to those guys cuz they I mean it’s a little bit of both Dave like it’s a little bit above you got one guy that’s you know all both of those guys are

First ball at Hall of Famer and so you know obviously ruy and AR did have it going you try to call their number you try to get DLo going DLo has been you know tearing it up this La over the last month and a have two months whatever it

Is uh then you have Braun and and and AD who yeah definitely you want them to be in the thick of things and get in touches because not only do they score they playmake and they draw a lot of double teams and triple teams so it’s

Just a little bit of all of that man again we we’ll go back we’ve been doing a great job of bouncing back from you know some devastating losses and and and getting this bad feeling and bad taste out of our mouth and we’ll do the same

We’ll do the same with this game extract what we can from it learn from it and get ready for the Warriors on Saturday Darin uh you talked about you know pregame mixing up coverages and you guys did that tonight with with some switching and and playing up to touch

And two three Zone and stuff uh felt like the initial wave was kind of successful and then the the backline rotations were where the breakdowns were and that’s where they’d get the open threes what did you see with within that obviously not having re-watched the film

Yet but just kind of the the way that they got some of their the you know 193s tonight well we love to the ball we shift to the ball and um again I keep saying it multiple efforts you know once you you may have to stop three or four

Actions with this team and increasingly more and more and more um teams are playing the style of basketball so I wish I could tell Mike Brown please come down to this to when you play offense just let us know what you’re going running so we can you know stop it

And and and not have to you know give second and third efforts but that’s not the case so you got to be ready for a little bit of everything it’s not always going to be perfect but you still got to pour energy and effort into what you’re

Doing and uh just again refocus and and and and not leave your teammates hanging you know you got to ad goes a block a shot we got to have somebody that Gathering a rebound Brown runs somebody off the a three-point line low does something AR ru whoever it is they’re

Making efforts to get guys uh under control we got to make sure we have each other’s back and again we’ve been doing a phenomenal job with that so we just got to get back to it just one little step backwards that uh we’ll learn from and and and extract the good and and

Look at the bad and try not to be as bad at the bad and and even better at the good Darin uh two for you um what did you think of the physicality sabonis played with against ad um and how does he need to respond to that and

Then um with LeBron I mean you mentioned turnovers I think he had three in the in the third quarter including a couple right away um how big were those do you think in terms of just kind of you guys not getting into the kind of Rhythm you

Wanted to be in I mean they they they I I’ll deal with the second question first you know you have turnovers they Thrive off stuff like that you know they they they get run outs they get dunks they get threes open threes you playing catch

Up um when when it when it’s live ball turnovers you know it’s it’s uh that’s a hard thing to deal with um and then just the physicality that’s just who uh Dam Mattis is that’s that’s just who he is man it’s that’s just how he plays and so uh

And I know a it’s not so much him being frustrated with the physicality of that matchup as it is him wishing he had a bunch of those shots back you know the shots that again he normally makes and for whatever reason guys have nights like that where you know you getting

Good looks and they just I saw a bunch of them Rim out and you just got to fight that frustration man you got to fight that frustration try to refocus and and make the next one again a next play mentality um but you know they’re

Hell of a team tip your cap to them uh we’ll again go back and watch the film and see where we can get better both individually all of us coaches players how we can all get better from this experience coach you’ve been uh 044 against them this season and if I remember correctly

Eight losses out of the last nine games against them what is it that makes it so hard for you guys to uh win against Sacramento uh you know they’re a team that plays fast they’re a team that has a lot of shooting they a team that got

Guys that they they they you know think they’re top five number two to be exact and passes per possession in in the half court so they they’re they’re style is built off ball movement and you know the ball very rarely sticks and then when they do need a bucket you got three

Different guys that can generate that from Fox monk uh sabonis even Keegan Murray um tonight you know Harrison Barnes had the hot hand he threw in seven threes so and then when you add that you know someone one of the in Harris bar he’s he’s been a hell of a

Player in this league but when you get that type of production from one of your rotational players that just adds more uh fuel to the fire so they’re a team that that forces you to play through the clock defensively the entire clock so it’ll be some stuff to look at again

That we can get better from and and try to see the good things that we did out there and try to sustain those going back to ad and the physicality with saon say how much do you see or do you see the physicality he I guess he’s taking defensively impact

Maybe he’s what able to give offensively in terms of saying you know some of those shots that usually would make aren’t going in but did you see like a I guess relationship between those two things I mean I don’t want to you know belittle sabonis he’s a hell of a player

But I’ve seen a make those shots plenty of times and you know I think it’s a yeah he’s he’s physical but AES you have bad shooting nights I mean just like look low wasn’t hitting the marks that he usually hits to he he wasn’t there

Tonight but I mean the kid is a hell of a player but I know who I’m coaching too this guy’s a hell of a player as well first ball of Hall of Famer so he’ll uh he’ll bounce back I’m Sure questions Austin generally speaking this season you know when you guys have been relatively healthy and approach the game you know with with you know proper rest and health and such you’ve been able to beat most of the good teams in the league where where’s the frustration

Level about not just this game but going back to last week against Sacramento and and losing both of those oh I mean those are both two big games um you know obviously gu a really good opponent that um you know we had an opportunity you know this past you know

Week and a half to you know climb the standings and uh they’re a team that’s you know right ahead of us by a couple games or uh a little larger now so um those are missed opportunities but it’s in the past when you proceed from this now just

Kind of you can’t do anything about the standings in terms of with this team how does that sense of urgency tick up I guess compared to last season when you guys are in a familiar place and now you’re kind of scratching CLA trying to

Get out of that 910 spot yeah I mean we just got to uh buckle down and um take every game as a must wi and um yeah basically just approach approach it like that um and you know go put our best foot forward and try to win you know

Every game we play uh Austin they made 193s believe they hit 46% of their threes just were you seeing any common threads and the breakdowns that led to those shots uh yeah I mean you know they got guys that can really shoot the ball um and you know Harrison Barnes goes SE

Seven for 11 Keegan Murray goes 5 for 10 and you know I I mean there’s multiple probably breakdowns that we had where we gave up one but one that stands out to me was you know I messed up one with probably five minutes left in the fourth

Uh keeg Murray got a wide open three or it was either keeg Murr Harrison Barnes got a wide open three on the right wing and um it was totally you know my fault but you know like I said this game’s in the past now Austin you guys are five games over

500 um you know this is one night like you guys The Vibes were excellent on Sunday but I guess what is like sort of an appropriate level of concern after performance like this um you know how quickly do you flush it um and how quickly do you look at this stuff and

Like say like we really need to zero in on X Y and Z um yeah I mean there’s nothing we can do about this game now uh besides watch and learn you know from our mistakes and what we can do um to be better you know especially in that third quarter you

Know 17 points um you know something had to get stagnant with our offense um but uh I don’t think the the vibe you know in the locker rooms really you know change you know uh yeah that’s I mean it’s not like we you know hate each other now I mean is

You flip the page and like I said you got to figure out what we want got to do to you know be successful moving forward um and like I said that’s in the past last one um you started the game uh phenomenally I think you had 13 of the first 15

Points of the team high percentage um what happened in the rest of the game did they make it very hard on you did something mentally and you changed you didn’t finish or you didn’t continue with the same success that you started um I’m not someone that’s going to go out

And shoot every ball uh you know I try to play the game the right way and early in the game the shots was there for me and I made them uh I went 10 for 17 from the field yeah that’s not I don’t think that’s bad so I don’t really know really

What you’re asking or kind of implying uh after you know the quick start but I know we lost and that’s all that matters thanks awesome thank You Mike you want to start us off d’angela first of all just defensively uh where did you feel like Sacramento was able to get to a lot of their shots I think they end up hitting 193s and how did you see that go on throughout the game everywhere like you said 193s they

Ran they offense to Perfection just another one of the teams in NBA that you know they execute so they make you work you I think ruy I think ruy had 18 points uh 8 and 10 shooting in the first half he W only W up taking that corner three in the

Second half um do you feel like you guys could have done more I know haven’t rewatched the film but you guys could have done more to keep him more involve get him more involved or this Sacramento make an adjustment that made that more challenging yeah I’d rather not go there with

It good game from ruy da EXC yeah it was four-point game at Halftime early in the third couple team turnovers I think they pushed up to 12 in the first I don’t know uh two and a half minutes of of a third maybe um when that’s occurring you know as a

Group have you guys learned anything about that that you can apply to trying to stop a run in the future I mean it’s a another NBA team of course but um this Sacramento team in particular I guess the last two wins have been from a huge quarter against you guys you guys played

Them relatively close the rest of the way what’s the question have you guys learned anything about what you can do to try to turn off a spig for a team no they swept us all year so maybe if we play him again we’ll figure it out and just follow up on you

Um you a typical shooting night for you what you make a your offensive night tough night for me Kobe knowing what was that state obviously they’re team just a right above you guys in the standing a couple spots I have you guys stand no it’s the state coming into tonight does that make this even more frustrating or even yeah just more frustrating I I didn’t know

What was at stake they were two G two games ahead of you guys in the in the standings um obviously they already won the season series but now they’re three games ahead and you guys are I think three behind for seventh now I mean now I know what’s his stake what was at

Stake but yeah no I didn’t switch anything up knowing that now but what did you see in the in the fourth when you guys went on that run that kind of shifted things that you were able to kind of figure it out for like six 68 minutes there I don’t even

Recall the run to be honest like for real I don’t recall the run at all um what we cut it to 12 or 10 or something I think we just got a few layups maybe a few stops we were struggling to get layups and stops all game so I think that’s probably what

You’re talking about but I really don’t recall at all last question you mentioned they uh swept you this season 04 and if I’m if I’m correct also eight eight out of the last nine what is it that makes it so hard for you guys to uh win over Sacramento I think Mike

Brown honestly I know how good of a coach he is I know what he’s done to that team um I know where they were before he got there and um they are where they are now I think obviously they have players that are more than capable but the system that he’s put

Around those guys everybody’s everybody’s involved I would say and everybody’s lethal you know and um I know his style so I know it’s what they do is him so for sure cool thank You uh Darren great win for you guys tonight um you guys have uh really controlled this matchup in the last few years you’ve won five in a row eight out of nine and 12 out of 16 like how do you make sense of that what what is it about

This matchup that that you guys are able to either exploit or or just kind of get up for uh I have no idea I think uh I mean our game planning when we play this team is you know try to get try to get out and run obviously that’s our game plan

Against most teams but um you know with how Braun and AD are getting to the basket at times if the foul is not called and they fall down you know you have a five and four the other way um for us to just do what we do worry about

How we play and um they’re not a great transition defensive transition team so uh we try to go out there and do what we do you guys held the Bucks to 22 in the third last night 17 for the Lakers tonight what’s been going so well for

Y’all in the third uh I think we were we were able to load and obviously uh I mean they they made threes but just trying to be be able to keep guys out of the paint being able to keep uh Braun and and AD out of the paint I mean 40 we

Gave up 46 points in the paint um which I mean that that’s a team that lives in the pain against against every team in the league so uh we’re able to do that we’re able to try to keep them off the free throw line as much as

Possible continue to be physical um ball pressure and just get on and run I think a lot of a lot of what we do offensively is fuel by our defense and a lot of a lot of what we do offensively is fueled by our defense and as long as our

Defense keeps up like that I think we put ourselves in a great position dearon another big start from Keon tonight he’s 6-0 as a start how much does he help you when you’re out there as far as taking on difficult covers and maybe giving you

A break here and there yeah I mean like I said before when Keon’s on the court I think good thing just good things just happen and uh the way that he plays and the way that he guards it’s kind of like it’s not normal like the way that he’s able to get

Through screens or even if he’s guarding someone that we consider hot and there are times where he’s able to slide under and still be in front of the ball and still be able to contest shots um and then he shoots he’s shooting the ball well for us uh he’s he’s adding you know

To our to our offensive dynamic as well uh not only on what what he’s doing on the other end of the court so uh he he’s been great for us um regardless of if he started or anytime he’s gotten minutes this season and I think you’re starting

To see he’s getting more comfortable as his minutes are growing and uh I said he’s been great for us these two wins I mean you talked about how complete that effort was against Milwaukee last night when you couple it with tonight and being able to hold that team off to does

This kind of feel feel you know like things are kind of clicking again for you oh it definitely feels great but um I mean I think obviously first quarters we need to be better but I think uh you know being a team especially in this

League being a team that can come out of halftime and uh be a great third quarter team is huge for anybody because you can be up or down and um you can extend a lead or or bring a lead back coming out of the half and um for a while while I

Was here third quarters were terrible for us so uh it’s it’s great being able to do that but we have to be able to do that consistently and what did you recognize I know lot has been made that you know domas and that record against ad um tonight obviously he had a moment

Against him again just um what did you see from him and just when did you recognize he could be so successful against a guy like ad oh I mean I’ve seen the record but I don’t think domas is doing anything differently than what he does on a nightly basis so um he he’s

Helping us win games it just so happens to the ad thing is a thing but he anybody that watches our games knows that this is what he does every single night so it’s not it’s not surprising Fox Mike shared with us pregame that I believe in games after holding opponents

To under 100 points you guys have been giving up like 116 per game or something like that that message obviously stuck didn’t hold him under 100 but 107 I believe like what what did that message mean to the team and how do you feel that you built upon that oh it’s

Something that we had to concentrate on I mean like I said we our season lies what what and what we do defensively and uh if we’re able to do that obviously you’re not going to you know hold teams under 100 all the time or even in this

League now 110 all the time but uh if we can go out there we can be physical we can kind of dictate you know their movement um and I feel like games are being called a little differently uh they say that they’re not but I think

It’s very obvious that they are uh we can we can sit here and lie all we want but um you try to see you know how much how physical can you be without you know being being called for fouls and uh we’re trying to find that happy median I

Think these last two games I think obviously yesterday they uh shot 32 free throws but um I still think we did a good job with our physicality and and this night 21 is not was it 22 is not a a bad Mark but um with us being physical

As we are I think we’re doing a great job trying to keep them off the line Daren we know sometimes offense can seem contagious team is struggling somebody makes a shot somebody else makes a shot and the ball gets rolling can defense be that way can a guy like Keon kind of

Pick up everybody’s defensive effort when he starts playing well definitely definitely because especially when it’s when it’s the guy that’s pressuring the ball like uh whenever he’s come off the bench and he’s and him and Davon have have started pressuring the ball like that that becomes contagious that you

Feel that type of energy when when you see a guy know turning someone in the in the back court two or three times uh your defense feeds off of that and he’s definitely been great for us and I think that’s a re that’s a big reason why our

Defense was the way that it was last two games thanks everyone uh we got we got a lot of a lot of good performances individually obviously that turns out to be a great team win’s up what you doing up here okay fair enough

Um but um you know like I said a lot of good individual performances that uh turned into a really good team performance um you know I I I first of all I commend our guys uh you know it’s it’s tough and I know it’s tough for the

Officials but uh you know there’s two nights in a row that man we we we’ve gotten outscored not even outscored but in terms of attempts we’ probably minus 30 if not more you know in in in the free throw situation versus two really good teams

And and you know we we got to keep fighting and and trying to figure out what we’re doing to where we’re not getting to the free throw line but our opponents are as much as they they are um because it’s it’s it’s you know it’s

Hard to deal with um but our guys did a great job of just trying to go out there and play Keep Their composure and not allow uh the discrepancy from the free throw line um bother them and so I commended them on that um but the the bottom line is you know

These last two games our our guys were great defensively um they they it was a two-point ball game uh in the second quarter late in the second quarter and we got three stops to finish that that that first half or the second quarter and then the start of the third

We got I think five stops in a row to start the third and that’s eight stops in a row and as dangerous as we are in terms of scoring the basketball if we get you know if we have situations where we’re getting eight stops in a row

Throughout the course of a ball game versus any team there’s a chance we can blow that thing open and and it goes from a two-point ball game to a 10-point ball game because of the eight stops in a row uh from a two-point to a 10-point

Lead because of eight eight stops in a row um I mean Keegan phenomenal two charges we haven’t had somebody take two charges in a game in a long time he just stuck sticks his body out there and gets ran over uh Keon ate deflections I mean he

Not only that he’s six and0 as a starter you know he’s done a heck of a job for a guy that’s been in the that that was a two-way guy up until at the halfway point this year to get eight deflections in a game you know where you play 28

Minutes even if you played 48 minutes that’s that’s an amazing thing to do uh just just just a just a heck of a job by by by Keon to get the eight deflections on top of that uh three steals um Chris dorte he came off the bench and gave us

A lift on both ends of the floor uh you know there a fast break team they ended up with six fast break points um they had 16 points in the paint in the second half and um you know one of the things that we that we told our guys before the

Game is if we can try to keep them under 50 were going to have a chance and there was a stretch where it wasn’t looking good I think in the first quarter or something like that they might have had 16 and next thing you know they up to 30

And but we ended up doing a better job towards the end of the second and so uh for bless you so for us to be able to protect the paint and then still try TR Tred to get out the shooters was was pretty good but um again offensively we

Tred to play with Pace we had 16 fast break points which was great we keep telling our guys go to the offense of glass we only had nine offensive rebounds but turned into 16 Second Chance points so we’re finding ways to score without even running any offense

When you’re talking about 16 fast break points 16 Second Chance points especially if you only get to the free throw line 12 times um but man what a game by HB uh HB hit big shot after big shot after Big Shot uh Keegan 19 points 11 rebounds huge double double from him

Uh obviously uh domas I mean it’s it’s just the norm for him to get a triple double for sure it’s the norm for him to get a double double but heck of a game by him versus a very very physical team I mean he he was getting hit bumped and

All that stuff and he just stayed in there and had 19 rebounds 10 assists and and 17 points uh but again I thought it was uh our bench that was great for us because you know we had a starter out obviously which moved Keon to the lineup

And we had a rotational guy out and and again I talked about dorte obviously Malik is as dangerous as he is uh but the guy that uh I want to mention last is Davon you know we we we we talk about again prior to last night uh our lack of

Sprays getting off the ball and how we only had we’re averaging about 11 a game last night we had a bunch tonight we ended up with uh 19 sprays we were 11 for 19 in sprays and I keep saying it if if we touch the paint we get off it like

That I mean with the way we shoot that that’s a hor shot and we were 11 for 19 I you know I don’t know what that is but I know that’s over 50% you’re shooting over 50% from the three-point line on 19 attempts you got a good chance to win if

You can sit down and guard somebody for a little bit and and and Davon was fantastic every time he touched that paint man the defense collapsed and he put that thing on time on target it was just beautiful fun basketball to watch just a just a whale of a game from from

From from Davon uh on both ends of the floor but but predominantly with the way that he sprayed the ball HB was a beneficiary of a couple of those things when when the game was tight in the fourth Mike you talked about this a little bit last night also a little bit

Pregame so I apologize in advance into whates into signis it longevity or or consistency of doing it over a stretch of time is it something specific you’re looking for from Keon or any player just what is the thought process that goes into making a significant move

Like that uh I mean there’s a lot that goes into it it comes down to feel um you know Kevin uh gives us a lot too and you know does it make us better with Kevin or Keegan or HB uh coming off the bench just to start

Keon I I I don’t know I I I don’t have that feel yet you know you can always bring Keon in the game early you Keon can still average 20 25 minutes a game if need be and so um kind of like Malik just G you know it can give us the

Luxury of he obviously finishing the way we want to finish but playing different lineups based on the flow of the game cuz we might go out there and the flow of the game might be in our favor with whoever starting okay let’s ride with that okay they want to make a run or

They want to do this you know you got Malik you got Keon you got Davon coming off the bench and it just adds to what uh is already a very very good bench Mike you talk about you know this season you know moments of let up where you

Know teams will go on runs and maybe that gets a little bit out of out of control um over these last two games are you seeing maybe I don’t know if it’s a corner being turned but anything different from your group as they kind of maintain and hold that

Off I tell you the focus is really there on the defense end in the floor you you know um in order to um sustain runs or stop runs you got to be able to defend because if a team goes on a run which a lot of teams do to think that you’re

Going to go on a better run than them by outscoring them it isn’t really realistic because usually when a team starts to go run they get a little confident they get a little energized and their defensive intensity picks up and it’s just natural everybody’s human your your anxiety if you’re you’re

Playing against a team going on a run kind of goes up and so that that same shot that you were taking when you up 20 or up 15 isn’t quite the same because you’re feeling the pressure of them coming so the one thing you could do was

Turn that anxiety into some sort of defensive energy or sense of urgency and the reality of it is that’s what our guys did time after time they got stops and those stops turned into easy baskets the other way for us and that’s something that you know hearing the

Chatter from our guys on the bench is something that I know that I I really like because at the end of the day uh these guys spray the ball they space the floor they play fast like we’re capable of like we’ve been doing since day one

We’ll score but are we going to be physical enough and be able to sustain or stop some of these teams runs that they go on when we’re up coach you mentioned Malik’s name a couple of times obviously he went out he did come back finished with like 26

Minutes uh can you tell us exactly what happened what his status is and if you expect him to miss any time uh I’m not sure what I know he got knocked to the ground uh some me say it was like a stinger so he could have he

Could have gone back in the game in the first half um but he he had three fouls and I felt we were in a pretty good Rhythm to close the half and so I didn’t want to risk him picking up his fourth and I just said we’ll hold him give give

Give him a chance to get his wits back and and then you know we’ll go back to the regular rotation in the second half and uh but I I mean I don’t know have you heard any update yeah I I think he’s fine yeah I mean you know afterwards he

Was he was yelling he was yelling that we were 10 and two when we don’t have a shoo round so I think I think I think he’s fine he was like the head coach I hope the head coach hears it I was standing right next to him so he’s back to the old

Malik coach uh the other day you complimented Keegan’s ability to get rebounds in traffic or how he’s getting better there where do you see it is it mindset is it something with the technique it’s all of that and and then just his growth in terms of his not just

Maturation uh mentally but but especially physically you know before when he was in there and and you know you’re holding guys off and you’re getting held off when that ball hits the rim now you got to be able to go up through some contact and with his

Strength and his size he’s starting to be able to go up through some contact he had a couple of big rebounds in traffic but and to go up at at a point and grab thing and and and again it’s only going to get better because he’s got a great

Nose for the ball um and and he’s just you know starting to learn the officials learn the opponents and learn ways that he could take advantage of his size strength height athleticism when it comes to rebounding the basketball thanks everyone thank you guys let’s go inside the Laker locker room ad speaking

With bre 82 week in a row uh close at the end of one tied tonight actually then the game got away from you what happened tonight out there um we had a 17-point quarter uh and it came out in the third and know we had some turnovers early um

Capitalized some of them guys made shots Harrison shot the ball well um they all really did from three um you know we had a tough shoot night um but I think you know the turnovers kind of hurt us and then in the offensive rebounding uh any time

They got a rebound uh it resulted in a three most of the time so uh you know it’s tough to you know D tough you know they’re a good team and uh you know when we give him Second Chance points or turn the ball over and give him easy points in transition um

You know it just makes it it’s a lot harder to beat him not offensive rebounds for them tonight and in the second half particularly Harrison got loose on on a few of them from three was that bad Gams and and you know sometimes the ball’s

Going to bounce the wrong way or did did something about the way they attack the offensive glass you guys could have boxed out better or whatever um have to look at it but I know um I know one in particular when the last one that sabonis got kicked out

To Harrison um I was boxing out I saw BR was coming over the top to grab the rebound but he thought I was going to get it so neither one of us kind of jumped and he got it kicked it out to Harrison for three but um you know when

They shooting a lot of jumpers uh it usually results in Long rebounds um around that um free throw line area and uh know we can’t stand and watch uh we got to put a body in our body and go get the ball so um I’m not sure on all of

Them but I have to uh go back and look and kind of see um you know what happened on those what’s your thoughts about you know playing against uh damont we all know that he’s a physical player out there but when you out there battling

With him what what is what is it like especially in a game like this when he was really really physical um yeah I mean he’s a physical player uh you know just try to you know match his physicality um make him T take a lot of

Tough shots uh I think he just hurt us on the glass I mean not defensively I mean we missed a lot of shots you know he’s only big so he’s going to get of defensive rebounds but offensively is where we try to limit um offensively for us I mean offensive

For them where he getting offensive rebounds um you know we got to limit that but uh you know he’s an Allstar uh been an Allstar so um he’s a good player is there something psychologically I mean derin talked about how you guys were able to because of the schedule

You’re able to put a lot into this game right in terms of propy practice you got to shoot around um is there something psychologically frust about you know giving a team that you’ve struggled with like a real good shot and then it kind of turning out the way it turned out

Tonight I mean it’s frustrating you know especially the last two games uh you know we have a terrible second quarter and uh at our place and that was that was the um the game right there turning point for the game um tonight uh I think it might have been

Third quarter 17 points um so just came out of halftime couldn’t put the ball in the basket and then you know tough turnover overs especially to start the third um got some easy looks so uh to be down four I think it went to like 12 something like that you know pretty

Quickly so um you know just got to come out a half uh ready to go um you know we all struggled from the field uh me Bron DLo uh particularly me easy shots around the bask especially in the first half um but uh you know fall back and then you

Know you know hit another you know big three and uh you know when you’re down like I said you when you’re you don’t want to give a team like this um any more extra points you know they want to score the basketball uh but when we give you know

Them extra points off off and rebound the turnovers is it’s a lot tougher just to beat them do you see any Trends with the the defensive breakdowns that led to their threes some of the IM that’s wide open I think it was uh miscommunication I know some

Uh we’re overh helping trying to help and you know they’re Drive kick team um they can’t get to the paint they try to spray out to their Shooters um and they did a good job of making Shots tonight uh I think we did a good job of

Protecting the paint um it was just the outside shots that beat us tonight so you know trying to help our guys obviously guarding de Fox and Malik monk you know they can get downhill so trying to help them um help our guys you know protect them from getting downhill and

They did a good job of spraying out last two hey D generally speaking when you know you and LeBron are healthy and you guys you know have really go into a game with crap you’ve been able to get wins this year even against most of the best

Teams in the league maybe with the exception of Denver is there any you know additional frustration or cause for you know concern by having a game like this against a team that you feel like you could beat when you don’t um I mean any loss is frustrating uh like I said

Especially when you um allow team to beat you because of your mistakes um like I said our turnovers um offensive rebounds things like that uh Mis cues on defense communication on defense is you know we allow a team to to beat us you know instead of playing the right way

And if they make shots and they beat us you know has off to them but um you know we can’t allow a team to beat us and cuz you don’t know what works you know so uh you know I think any loss like that is is definitely frustrating thanks Austin Reed’s offensively great

Tonight 10 to 17 7 threes 28 also got to love the accountability that he that he holds him himself to uh when it comes to the defensive end as well you know because Austin you know four years of college smart guy he knows the only way you going to win championships is

Playing good defense and you know you can’t have defensive breakdowns when you have defensive breakdowns that CA you know a dagger in the heart of the team he talked about the three he gave up there he talked about the easy bucket he missed and those little things they

Might seem middle school but throughout the game when you see something like that when you streaking yeah and they hit you with that dagger it hurts and I think for him he knows how important it is for them to get out of the position they in because you look at the

Standards you just mentioned Denver’s back number one and you don’t want to be in the same bracket is Denver let’s be honest because they own you for the last two years so they need to find a way to must up some energy for these last 15 16

Games whatever it is and move up to get out of that bracket yeah those third quarters you know they’ve been victim of third quarter a lot and I think if they could focus on two quarters first and third the ones that they really need to win and compete to keep the game from

From getting out of hand uh you know I thought ruy and Reeves were really hot at the beginning I thought they should have kept going back to them considering that the other big three just weren’t there yet but you know you got to give them credit uh they they came to play

Played a good game and uh he’s always in the mix you know playing hard 10 to 17 shooting and uh yeah you you like the way Reeds is performing LeBron scored nine of his 18 points in the fourth he’s in the locker room with BRZ braon score was tied after one then

Sacramento took off what were some of the reasons you saw um I think the third quarter um you know they came out we missed some shots they caught fire and uh you know took the lead you know bumped it up after that hey you guys scored 17 in that

Quarter what what happened out there uh know offensively we just couldn’t get it going um and they did really good team really really good team they had our number this year that’s for sure were you seeing any common common threads that led to them getting the I think 19 threes that they made

Tonight um you know they do a great job of um passing the ball spreading the ball um you know moving bodies you know and um you know when they knocking down threes like did tonight just very difficult to guard them what do you guys have an that that’s working offensively

Even if it’s leading to some Miss shots that guys normally make how as a group how can you stay disciplined to keep going to it versus trying something else um recognizing like a good look even with a M can suppos be better than a different type

Of look um that’s pretty much our league though no one ever sticks to what’s working you know you just you know people want to get cute and try to try and do things but that’s our league has always kind of been like that over the

Last few when I came into the league you know it was like one thing is working we going to milk that until you stop it and even if you stop we may even go back to it um but that’s just that’s just how the league is now mention goe uh you

Mentioned mixing up pitches and shoot around how how’ you feel like you guys did that tonight in terms of like switching two three zone drop playing up to touch um we did we mixed pitches and they uh they still hit a few of them is there something psychological you

Mentioned that they had your guys number this year is there a moment in the game where it’s just like it feels like every time the ball swings to an open guy he HS a big shot does that is there any is there any weight to that in the like out

There that I think it’s the um the ones is when we when you stop a offensive team like that and and then they get a second chance and they kick out you know those are the ones that’s kind of demoralize and when you get you play 24

Seconds or whatever the case may be a great defense and you know ball bounces the wrong way and they get offensive rebound and they hit a three you know those are the ones that those are always the ones that kill you big pitcher Golden State Saturday do you feel like recently there’s been

Really no let up in these games no we already knew we was like in The Gauntlet of our of our schedule you know um you know it started with that um what was it Denver I believe um at home and we already knew we had all the teams that

Was coming in everybody positioning jockey and some of the best teams in the league I think it was like Denver Sacramento obviously we played Milwaukee you know and uh you know so many other teams OKC we had them on the on the list so um you know we know it was a tough

Stretch for our for our ball Club but you know even with the loss to Denver even with the loss to um you know sack both times we still been playing some good ball is there something ruy I think started eight for 10 and then got just

That one corner three in the fourth I think that’s the only shot he took um are there ways when you’re a complimentary player like that do do you guys need to find him more when he’s hot or are there different things you guys can try to do to to maximize that kind

Of night for him to so it’s not a situation where he’s just taking one shot in the fourth in the second half I mean obviously you know when a guy has it going you always want to try to find him um but the game is I don’t know I

Have to rewatch it and see if there were ways to us to get the ball but teams make adjustments too um you know really good teams make adjustments if you’re they have guys that you know X Factor guys that’s got it going they able to make adjustments and try to take the you

Know some of the looks that he was getting away from so how’s your how’s your ankle and how are you feeling know you’re battling sickness a little bit ankle’s doing decent um trying to knock this cold out as fast as possible we see thanks elj thank you so LeBron James

As the Lakers lose 120 to 107 battling that cold like a lot of us are and also the ankle injury just uh got it going a little bit late big game but uh not not as best as he said yeah I wouldn’t I wasn’t aware of the cold and and you

Know not being 100% but he tried to fight through it I could tell they were a little bit off it it affected him you know um mentally have them not be able to stop the Kings shooting the ball from three because defense struggled yeah LeBron’s off night offensively he’s won one assist

Away from three from a triple double seriously yeah it was 18 13 yeah that’s what I say sometimes the numbers you notice the numbers they’re impactful in a game like tonight like his numbers weren’t you know because of the first half yeah he’s three for 12 after uh after three quarters n points

You can you can get a nice stat line and still have you know not a good plus minus and still not be impactful you couldn’t really tell I mean we saw some nice plays in the second half yeah but they you know didn’t really have any effect the way they closed out though

You could just tell you know it was one of those games of 82 where not going to have it every night mentally physically and they didn’t have it

  1. This year is a wrap for the lakers and in a laker fan .. reality is reality. We got to make some trades for sure and get rid of darvin ham. I’m all in for Trae young not Donavan Mitchell next year to match up with players like Jamal Murray and Daron fox

  2. as Dubs fan who likes Lakers too I'm noticing
Lakers & Dubs showing more similarities than just the W-L records

Mike Brown showing his Cleveland years weren't just about the roster

Kings are looking like the most organized CA team, but that isn't just coaching
lack of injuries helps your roster play more consistently together

  3. This is the price they pay for making a deal with the devil all those years ago when the kings got cheated out of that playoff series lol.

  4. Darvin Ham knows that the talent on the court is enough to win basketball games, and I don't think he's wrong. The problem is that there's very few players on the roster that have dawg in them. If the refs aren't calling ticky-tack fouls every 15 seconds, you can punk this team.

  5. Problem with lakers is 1- AD is not that all good he can not play vs good centers he is weak 2- the coach is really bad ham is not a couch. That’s the problem with lakers and these people don’t have the balls to say it !!!

  6. Haha they talking about the 90's sabonus playing 90's type basket and AD can't deal with it and they want dismiss 90's ball😂😂

  7. • DEN & SAC were built to Beat US (Points/Physically/Coaching/Mentally/etc.) and They did that in all 8 Regular Season Games this Year!!!
    • AD got Punked by Sabonis the Entire Game!!!
    • LBJ was Super Passive, Careless with the Ball for the 1st Half & Bad on Defense the Entire Game!!!
    • Super Janky that D'Lo aired His issues about DHam to the Media in the Middle of a Playoff Push!!! And, even More Janky was He included Schroder in the Story!!! This was Dangerously close to Him telling on Nick Young!!!

  8. I don't care what anybody says I've landed the laker organization Anthony Davis said he did not want to play center and he is not a center we had 2 of the best centers in the league and we let them Go for absolutely no reason after winning a championship this is on the lake of organization for not getting a suitable center or keeping what they already had how come we Always need what we let Go WHY not just keep what we have instead of letting pieces Go and Then wondering where we're going to get it from. We had Dwight Howard and javel McGee that year we started off this season first place we were unbeatable that was the key to Anthony Davis dominance he didn't have to worry about centers

  9. I’m just here to confirm that the Lakers are still being coached by Ham. Not watching any game until the playoffs or he's let go. Whichever comes first.

  10. They ain't going to fire Ham this season. People just need to get over that. Also, they got rid of the last coach and nothing has changed. Let me know when the players can be blamed and traded to fix the problem.

  11. thr epitimy of stat padding…laquit scored 9 of his 18 in the 4th when the game was OUT OF REACH….just in to pad stats….should have sat the 40 year old man down instead his blind follower will actually say he had a good game….

  12. It feels like Darvin Ham is losing his team. Where is D’Lo & most importantly AD? As long as they both can’t step up in these big moments, Lakers have no chance back in the conference Finals, period.

  13. AD and Dwight howard was th reason they won the chip.Dwight gave jokic physical presence in the paint the whole series and with AD there guards have a hard time driving to the basket and lastly Vogel can coach Ham is not ready for a franchise of this caliber hes better with the wizards, hornets pistons.

  14. What is funny they win and the players did amazing, they lose it’s all Darvin. No player accountability. As a coach what do you do if nobody is playing well?

  15. Labron James has no defense 😮 and D Angelo Russell didn't want to be traded so he started to play real well he's chocking again and he and Reeves just has no answers for tougher teams they can't beat and games they definitely should have won😮 bye bye Lakers 😢

  16. Jamesmurray, Man Dam–it, I am Sick 🤢 of James Worthy Making up Frick-in EXCUSES AFTER EXCUSES AFTER EXCUSES AFTER EXCUSES DAM-IT ( SHOW SOME ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THEIR PLAY NOW LISTEN TO HIM HE SITS UP THEIR AND ( SAYS HE FEELS THE LAKERS PUT UP A GOOD–FIGHT AFTER HE SAID THAT I HAD TO VOMIT IT MADE ME SICK, 🤢, HOW IN THE HELL 🔥, DID THE LAKERS PUT UP A GOOD FIGHT WHEN SABONID OWNS ANTHONY DAVIS TOOK HIM TO SCHOOL 🏫, DERIN FOX 🦊, JR. AND MALIK MONK AND EVEN BARNES THE LAKERS HAD NO ANSWER FOR, AND SABONIS MADE ANTHONY DAVIS OVER HIM LOOK LIKE A ROOKIE, NOW I KNOW JAMES WORTHY HAS TO KISS-UPTO THE LAKERS HIM AND ROBERT HORRY BECAUSE THEIR ON THE LAKERS PAY–ROLL, WHY COULD,NT JAMES WORTHY SAY SOMETHING LIKE THEY MADE BIG SHOTS AND THEY MADE THE BIG PLAYS AND THEY JUST OUT-PLAYED US AND WE GOT TO DO A BETTER JOB ON THE DEFENSIVE END COLLECTIVELY WE STUDY FILM WORK ON MIS-CUES AND WE WILL WORK ON GETTING BETTER, HEY HATS OFFTO THE KINGS THEY WERE THE BETTER TEAM TONIGHT–SHOWING SOME (ACCOUNTABILITY INSTEAD OF KEEPING MAKING UP (EXCUSES.

  17. Jamesmurray, There he go again just made me SICK 🤢 AGAIN, now James Worthy is saying it,s like( THE LAKERS WAS,NT IN IT, MORE EXCUSES THE WERE IN IT IT,S JUST THE SACREMENTO KINGS HAVE A MUCH BETTER TEAM OVERALL AND TALENT WISE THAN THE LAKERS NEW NAME FOR JAMES WORTHY MR. EXCUSES.

  18. Coach Ham almost always says the same dang thing. “Next play mentality. Multiple efforts. I got to watch the film.”

I get D. Ham is a good motivator but as an Xs and Os. I am not that convinced.

I don’t get when he says he has to watch the film. He was at the game. I don’t know what game he watching sometimes.

  19. Wait until the finals, actually im very comfertable now ,weve lost the last 7 or 8 something like that to denver , and 4 this year to Sacramento, but remember its the regular season, i am confident if we play sac we will adjust and be healthy with vando ,cam ,and christian wood, and gabe vincent ,you know how deep will be when healthy and this eplaywrs that are out are our best defenders, and you really think denver is going to beat us in another 7 game series, nah, we will have all the tapes and fim on every stratagy ,and im glad we lost thes games during the regular season because that last years confernce chanpionshio was too close every game we could have had and swept if we got certain calls, made a couple of threes we win ,thats how close every game was, so in losing these games is perfect ,id be qorried and not want to play the lakers if i was denver because they know and everyone knows ,we aint losing to denver again, when fully healthy ,we almsot win without players all year we havent been healthy one game qith everyone that is a huge differnce when we are healthy in the playoffs ,we are just tryng to make the playoffs we dont care who we play ,because we got the experience we are the deepest team in the league when healthy , i have no doubt we go on a run like last year and end up with the 7 or 6th seed , i would love to play denver first ,but i think will get OKC or minnasota wich id be happy to play, thats bbg chicken lol and hopefully other teams take put each other, i want Sacramento because i know what playoff AD is like and we all know what plaoff lebron is like and is waiting for , we going to flip that switch !! Lets go lake show lets get that run going , we need a 4 to 5 game win streak that might put us in 6th right away i dont mind 7th because we get two chances to get into the playoffs, and id love to see OKC , minnasota, phoenix, dallas, anyone in the west im confident against even where whatever our seed is, were going to be the most dangerous 6th 7th or 8th seed ,we will scare that team being the fist series, these youn teams dont have the experience to sustain and win against my lakers in 7 games impossible only dnver has a chance but like i said these loses are great timing to them , we have everything weve done wrong at the end of games and i guarantee you denver is not going to beat us another 4 games in the playoffs, we going to the chip fo sho

  20. Austin did a lot celebrating when he was making three point shots….Fox was giving him the business and Harrison Barnes was torching whoever was “supposed” to be guarding him.

  21. Austin Reaves is an absolute turnstile on defense. There's a lot of offensive-minded players in this league that need to be hidden on defense, but man AR stands out as just bighting so hard on every little move or fake

  22. Darvin best asset as a head coach is how he can Bullsh!t the media in these press conferences

  23. Ham is trash…the players dont respect the coach…and to be honest Lebron gets way too much credit….he has numbers to show but he is not balling….he is a vybz breaker…turn the ball over and then still wants to blame some one…..This team is not a team just a bunch of individuals playing without a true leader on the bench..
