POSTGAME REACTION: Miami Heat at Detroit Pistons, 3/15/24.
We welcome in the pride and joy of Rochester New York and a guy who’s become a really important player for the heat off the bench Thomas Bryant Thomas thank you so much for putting on the headset and joining Eric Reed and John Crow you had all 11 of your points in
The fourth quarter you got to finish out what was really an important Victory what was the mindset for for you and your teammates coming into this this game well the mindset was just coming out aggressive man we know we lost four straight and we didn’t want to come into
A hostile environment like Detroit and lose another one man so we had to come out from the get-go from start to finish and that was the that was what we wanted to do Thomas talk about your defense that uh what what did you do on the
Defensive end you were able to force so many turnovers and and really create a lot of your offense off those turnovers well a lot of it was just a lot of activity out there you know a lot of talk communication out there with the guys and you know we went over and shoot
Around in practice and you know we just try to get try to be as connected as we can out there with high heads great defensive effort out there Thomas you know you joined the heat in the off seon and now with the addition uh with the
Deletion of Kevin Love due to the injury you haven’t had consistent minutes but you’ve made the most of whatever minute you get how you staying ready and how good does it feel to really participate contribute and and help your team win well it feels great man you know
Everybody on this team is want is wanting to win and willing to win you know and it doesn’t matter what whatever whoever out there we all try to be be together and go out there as one and just try and get a win whenever we play Thomas Bryant you might very well be
Exactly what you think you are the greatest player to come out of Rochester New York congratulations on another strong strong effort for you and your team here in the second half tonight much appreciated thank you I guess just first um General thoughts on the bounceback I mean
It’s um a welcome reminder you just don’t take anything for granted you know and it it feels uh you know earned and um you know you just realize how tough it is to to win in this league and um you know collectively we’re able to to
Uh come together and get the job done tonight uh it doesn’t matter how who uh when or what um it’s just a matter of uh you know getting the game and and we were able to do that the spirit was good and uh you know there wasn’t discouragement you know this morning in
The prep um and I thought there was a professionalism you know to their approach tonight uh you know now we have to you know gear up and rest up heal up and and get ready you know for the matina game when you look at the flections steals how much of that is a
Good indicator for when the defense is on yes yes we we’ve said that all year long um we’re at our best when we’re active we’re disruptive we’re making our our presence felt we’re up and into you know offensive teams um we’re making them feel us uh if
They’re getting wherever they want to go uh and there’s no disruption um you know then you know we’re not the biggest team uh we’re not small either but uh you know if teams can just take it to us that that’s not our winning formula and you know I
Thought the the start of the game set the tone even though it was like back and forth you know for the most of the first half the activity level was was Set uh from the beginning Terry was was terrific with his activity uh Caleb was outstanding bam was really good defensively and then
Everybody just joined the party from there the deflection steals disruption um activity plays um you know it looked a lot more like us the way bam dominated in the second period was that just his force of will was there something you saw even against their size with his
Quickness you thought he can get to get 16 yeah what uh what what bam is about is is just being a great competitor and you know he wanted to make sure that he was going to impose his will on this game and he did it on both ends of the court and do
Whatever we had to do uh to get this win and you know he was setting the tone uh in that second quarter uh and it wasn’t just that that scoring but obviously that was that was big I mean he had some you know impactful plays uh momentum plays
Um and and then defensively he was he was everywhere uh you know and and that’s what your leaders you know do you know in these uh tough moments of a season they step up and you just follow them we asking this every year but it’s
Two games in a row now that bams hit that above the break three is that a shot when teams are giving him that space yeah it’s interesting like you know um I had this discussion with him um during the summer and he was working on his Corner three and uh man I was
Cool with that you know I want him to work on the three uh but I told him that the the three that would be more available would be the one at the top that’s where he ends up being more often like the spacing you know typically it doesn’t
Make really sense for our roster for him to be in the corner there’s other guys that would be in the corner um but he’s up top all the time uh and also I watch him you know now for several months that’s the one you know he’s he’s most
Proficient on so uh I’m good with him shooting that if there playing way back you know he’s he’s a great decision maker so that’s going to lead to a great action where somebody uh you know in a deep drop um which is a problem for if you’re Duncan’s coming off or or Jimmy
Or or somebody but like that but if they’re going to totally lay off I’ve seen him make that one enough um we’ll see we’ll see where it goes speaking of dunan those three three-pointers to break it open how important was it uh yeah I love seeing the the
Competitive fire and the spirit not only from uh Duncan um you know I I I think that was just something that he just let out because the emotion and everything you know he wants to make every shot he doesn’t want to let the team down and you can’t
Control whether the ball goes in all the time but he always creates something good for our offense when he’s moving around creating overreactions making plays uh you know off the dribble uh all of that um but he’s a he’s as ignitable as anybody in this league if you sees one go down um
You know the first one was uh I think end of the clock um it was a tough one it’s probably one of the tougher ones that he’s hit or shot in the last few games he’s had some much easier ones but I don’t know sometimes when he hits one
Of those it’s uh it can become an avalanche you know from there but his defensive activity was also uh very good and um it was great to see the fire the fire was really coming from uh Duncan and Caleb Caleb was uh his Spirit his uh voice uh his intensity all that stuff
Was contagious he basically let every single person in our camp understand how important this game was all right thank you thank you how critical was that period first of all it’s nice to see the threes go in but consecutively and really helped to widen
The space in the game to lead to the end of this losing yeah I mean we we were talking a lot about just getting a breakthrough um you know I thought we had stretches where we played well but uh you know you just got to have moments throughout a game where
You kind of take control of it so I think it started with the defense now we’re able to get out and finally see some shots going my goodness and there you are sitting at 999 for the very dramatic one that goes in on Sunday afternoon what a coward two chances
Three chances to get it um in this game getting a nice win just a just a coward it’s all right you’re saving it you’re saving some you’re saving some for Sunday the threes will Splash uh hands active by the way on the defensive end getting some stuff done helping with
What was a massive turnover game for the defense really piling it up and turning it into points on the other yeah you know we we’re active on defense uh we can get out and go and get in transition so uh we don’t need to worry about half
Court offense at that point could just go out and and get some which is big it would think from the outside that there’ just be like this kind of release and Rel to get that losing streak done but it has to be more complicated than that
I guess at this point in the year because where you guys want to be when we get to the second season yeah I mean at this point you know we had a conversation earlier uh every game is like a playoff game you know the sense
Of urgency he’s got to be at an all-time high coming on the stretch here just finding a way to win games so B it’s all nice when it comes together you knocking down threes back in the 20o scoring range the win comes back good defense and good offensive at
The same time uh we were clicking ton night you know shots was falling we was making plays on the defensive end so yeah um that’s one game we have to play them again whenn what’s today Sunday so uh I feel like they be more prepared again how about that three we
Want to see a little bit more of it if cats are going to Sag and you’re at the top might as well how nice was it have to play that fourth quarter uh I mean well well needed rest uh just felt good to communicate um watching my guys you know hold the
Lead and you know cap got to sit on the bench today was just saying that he was watching you practice Corner threes in the off season um and he kind of had a conversation with you saying that he thinks maybe above the Breakthrough would be the one that would be more
Available in the offense have you kind of noticed that where you get those opportunities a little bit more and now star to put them up obviously the last two games but you get those opportunities within the flow of the offense yeah definitely in the flow um and at this point it’s about just
Shooting it uh letting it ride uh and you know we uh we always have our shooting competition me Orlando and uh TV so you know when I win I I feel more confident in shooting it how many dice was it that TB gave you the fourth
Quarter off that what he did he was active and efficient and effective man um it’s not that’s not easy to to you know play Spot minutes some games not not play not knowing if you going to play and then come in and be productive like that so you know I always tip my
Hat off the guys you know in our system where you know you don’t know if you’re going to play you don’t know how long you’re going to play and they go out there and produce so very proud of them I know it sounds fun Dental but how
Important is it to sack win starting with Sunday that every game has to be now coming down the stretch to get another and pile them up U we just use this game as momentum this was our breakthrough game we just use it as momentum B

Been rooting for Thomas Bryant to get reps since the season started. Glad he’s getting minutes now, to show out.
Smiling a lot.. Wake up Spoelstra it's just the pistons a lottery team… You were a small team because you did not play your centers… Start playing Thomas Bryant man before it's too late again
Keep playing Thomas Bryant and start playing O, Robinson.
