Shaq to the Heat: the Re-Grade 🤝

Shaq to the Heat: the Re-Grade 🤝

All right we’re regrading the NBA’s biggest trades of all time and yeah it doesn’t get much bigger than Shaq so as a reminder here are the full trade details of a trade that went down basically a month after the Lakers lost the 2004 finals and there were three

Main reasons why Shaq wanted out everyone knows about the Kobe beef pun intended but also Phil Jackson had just stepped down as head coach and of course Shaq wanted more money and people forget just how good Shaq still was in Miami and obviously it all came together in

Their second year when Shaq and DW took the heat to the promised land but this trade was not an L for the Lakers Lamar Odum obviously turned into a franchise icon and hey the first round pick turned into Jordan Farmar but the crazy alternate reality here is that allegedly

The Lakers turned down an offer from the Mavs for Dirk and Steve Nash the final grades look this ended up being a win-win for both teams but if that Mavs report is true it could have been a bigger win for the Lakers

  1. How do you possibly turn down Nash and Dirk? Nash obviously wasn’t the MVP player he was in PHX at the time, but was still probably a top 5 PG or close to it at the time and Dirk was Dirk. Wtf??😂

  2. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks that it was best for the Lakers to trade Shaq because if Kobe and Shaq stayed together we wouldn’t have witnessed 62 points in three quarters, 65 points against Portland, or even his famous 81 point game

  3. The idea of Dirk and Nash (for Shaq) sounds amazing.

But Nash wasn’t yet the Nash everyone thinks of, and next to Kobe and Dirk while also not being under d’Antoni I’m not sure he would become that Nash, still a very good starting caliber point guard, just not Phoenix Nash.

Offensively Dirk is an upgrade over Pau, but he is a downgrade defensively, there is also a good chance he doesn’t become an MVP either.

Then you have the questions of how the rest of the team gets filled out, with now three big contracts.

  4. Steve Nash joined the Suns as a free agent that same off-season. He literally won MVP in 05' on the Suns. FAKE NEWS.

  5. Honestly they should've went with that trade with the mavericks 🤦 but at the same time I can't be too mad because the Lakers went back to back anyways

  6. That’s dumb because you’re trading him in the same conference, you’re going to have to deal with them come playoff time.

  7. The problem with Lakers after shaq left was that their team was kinda trash. They had kobe and yes they had Caron butler and Lamar but they had a trash center and a trash point guard.

Like how tf are you a starting 7'0 center and averaging like 6 rebounds per game? Not to mention the years Kobe was literally forced to carry all the workload because Shannon Brown may be able to shoot and jump high but he's still mediocre as a starter imo and the bust Kwame Brown.
