I think Gary does better as a #1 or #2 scoring option than a guy that just plays in the background of the other guys. I think he's more comfortable being one of the featured scorers which explains why in the past he was so inconsistent with us. He's starting to feel like when DeMar DeRozan starting to first come on for us. We have so many options on our team, but if we can find a way to fit Gary in as a feature scoring option then we can make him work on our team, if not we have to let him move on, but I don't Gary is a come off the bench kind of guy on this team anymore, he either starts, or he goes elsewhere.

A reasonable explanation is that he spent half the season being trash. Yes, hes been great since then, but which gary do we get next season? And beyond?
I think RJ is a natural 2 but can play 3. I would like to bring Gary back but off bench at about 24-28 MPG depends on matchups. If there are injuries he can start here and there. I don’t agree with the contract because of the lack of consistency. I think teams will try for MLE so $13,14 so I would do longer 3 at $15.5 with third as player option. If he becomes more than he is today. We can pay him more then.

Ideally we need a legit shooting guard beside quick, scottie, and rj.

One dimension guys like Gary – see Seth Curry – do NOT make 15-20 mill/yr. At the most, the non-taxpayer MLE. So if Gary took 13 mill and agreed to come off the bench, then maybe I'd consider letting him walk. Otherwise, I'd prefer to let him walk and throw a bunch of money at the Brothers Malik and a bit more size. Precious?
He's gone already….too many 18 – 20 year Olds, including Gradey are going to be drafted or undrated doing what he does better on 3 levels and he'll find himself if he stays, competing for less money 💰 with this team in training camp going up against these younger guys, trying to prove he deserves a spot on next season's roster, like Delano and Malachi did.
He did this in the Florida season when everyone was injured too and it’s what got everyone excited…. Then it will be the same story when his numbers fall off, he needs to start, he doesn’t like coming off the bench, he struggles in the bench role. Doesn’t matter you produce in whatever your role is. Time to move in for a bigger better defensive player that can also shoot. I think hopes were agobaji might fill that role but the way he’s looked I dunno.

I think the way gary played had a lot to do with the point guards they had last year and this year. When we first aquired gary when kyle was pg he shinned. When fred was pg he slumped. Dennis pg slumped. Dennis and fred were alike in some ways im the leader blah blah blah.when fred was out last year gary was playing well. And now with dennis gone hes playing well again.
