Article by Vinny Benedetto is not paywalled.

“It takes something special to beat the Nuggets in the clutch, and Kyrie Irving did just that in the final seconds of the Mavericks’ 107-105 win Sunday in Dallas.

After an uncharacteristic miss from Jamal Murray with five seconds left, Dallas took a timeout with three seconds remaining. It didn’t look like Irving had much to work with when he caught the ball in the right corner, but the masterful finisher doesn’t need much space to score. With the clock nearing zeroes after a couple of dribbles toward the middle of the court, Irving leapt from behind the free throw line and got a left-handed floater to fall at the buzzer. That came after Denver erased a 13-point deficit in the final seven minutes.

The comeback started with 3-pointers from Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Michael Porter Jr. Then, Murray and Nikola Jokic went to their trademark two-man game in the final minutes. Murray hit a 3 and a floater to bring Denver within a point in the final two minutes. Jokic scored inside to tie it with just over a minute left before Murray’s 3 put Denver up 3 with 28 seconds left.”

I’ve seen somewhere that Irving stepped out-of-bounds on the game winning shot. Does anybody have photos or video?

  3. Mavs would be a really tough 1st round matchup for sure…but no easy ones on West lol
