[Bontemps] Nick Nurse says Joel Embiid continues to do rehab and on-court work, but still isn’t doing any team activities yet. Nurse adds that he doesn’t know about a specific number of games Embiid needs to play before the playoffs, and that he typically gets back in game shape quickly.

  1. > Nurse also says there’s no update on De’Anthony Melton, who has only played in 5 games since January 1 because of recurring back problems — an underrated part of Philly’s struggles.

    > Tobias Harris (right ankle sprain) is out tonight, per Sixers official

    > Nick Nurse said Harris will travel with the Sixers in their upcoming road trip and thinks he’ll be able to return soon

    Butler out

  2. How long do people reckon it will take Embiid to get back?

Call it a wrap and let Embiid get fully healthy for next season. If he returns this year, there will be the requisite playoff games of “Joel is sitting out this one and that one due to pain, knee swelling, etc. The Sixers aren’t going anywhere this year regardless as Boston (FTC) is simply better, but the sub will be inundated with, “If only Embiid were at full strength…He was having a historical year and it was our time, blah, blah, blah.”

Why risk a return? Better to allow Embiid to become fully healthy and conditioned before going “all in” (FTC) with an improved roster (minus Tobias) next season.
