Chris Manning that’s s damal thanks again to Jake Stevens for his work on production Cleveland won a game where they were depending on when and and where you looked uh fandel for instance had them as a seven and a half Point Underdog it was as low got to lowest six
But they were underdogs in this game on the road down Donovan Mitchell down Evan Mobley all of that Marcus Morris thr in there and they win 10 way to 103 Evan I think we have to start with to me the MVP of the game and that’s Caris
LeVert yeah Caris LeVert that’s a great Shout by the way but Caris L was phenomenal in this game almost had a triple double overall um really was a good counterbalance to Darius Garland who did pick up some of his scoring numbers and kind of met Caris a little
Bit down the stretch but like the Garland shot wasn’t falling it was not a very efficient knife from him especially from the perimeter um but like the 23 points eight rebounds love it this once steal a block like the fact that he was more or less the only guard attacking
The rim for Cleveland and just kind of putting pressure on Indiana’s interior defense was really key and um yeah the uh the the Cavs played this game very well um and I think Caris L just deserves all his flowers and you know probably a little sweet that he gets to
Do it against his former team too yeah it was the the note they had on the broadcast that this is his highest average scoring against other teams was was notable um and fun it was interesting at the very least maybe more so than fun the the thing about his game that I
Think stood out to me most in this one Evan is just that they needed this on a n where there’s obviously no Donovan Mitchell who’s out and we don’t really know exactly when he’s coming back but Darius Garen also just didn’t have it so Caris LeVert is 7 of 15 from
The field he was seven of 10 on twos he got to line 11 times he made eight he also had 11 assists just one turnover 23 points really great game as you said almost a triple double darus scarland by comparison five of 18 one of nine from
Three only got to line four times made two of them seven assists versus five turnovers 13 points 13- seven for Garland and particularly as inefficient as he was shooting is just not going to cut it you need without car being the ball handler without being the distributor without
Being the scorer he was on top of what you got from Jared Allen and Isaac Kor and Marcus Morris and Sam Marell who and will get some moris in okuro specifically later you don’t win this game this is the value I think ultimately if you
Wanted to like make a case of what is the value of having Carver even if he’s somewhat redundant with your star guys and maybe you’d like to you theoretically MCU to use his salary elsewhere this is why because he can pick up the slack on his best nights
When your other guys just don’t have it or aren’t generally playing well season yeah and to your point um Levert position-wise skill-wise does overlap quite a bit with Garland and Mitchell just because he is functional off the ball but lever is at his best when he
Has the ball in his hands and he’s just kind of given a green light to break down an opposing defense slow the game down a little bit uh he can either and just really be elite in the pick and role which is something he’s always been
Good at ever since coming to the NBA out of Michigan but in this situation in this game I agree like Garland just didn’t have it um sure if you look at the final stats you might think it’s a little bit different but like he started the game
One or two from the floor in the first quarter and like that that’s kind of indicative to me like okay he’s not going to be super super aggressive scoring wise and you can tell he’s kind of settling for some shots he’s not really driving to the basket as much
Anymore just because he’s physically just not 100% there the burst he has admitted isn’t there Weight Wise he isn’t there but either way um with Garland still not 100% kind of finding his footing and his way back to the floor you you do need Knights like
This from Caris sler to pick up the slack especially when there is no Donovan Mitchell or even when there is a Donovan Mitchell available like it makes life a lot easier for Cleveland because you’re able to get that rim rim pressure from your back court and you’re also
Able to just really exploit some of the mismatches and matchups that the Indiana Pacers were throwing at Cleveland or just in general but yeah this L this is a game where you say like ah yes this is why the Cleveland Cavaliers are comfortable with having these three on
The roster um playing them either all together on the floor or at least one of them with Levert at any time and it is helpful especially when lever does find a Groove just because like he is a volume scorer once he sees the ball go in a few times you’re probably going to
See it go in a lot more on the Garland front where are you at with him right now with about a month too a little less a month to the playoffs where are you at on on how Garland’s playing what he looks like and what the Cavs are getting from him um
I’m cautiously optimistic that he will kind of get back to more of a full form by the time the postseason rolls around like I know we had discussed it uh back when the Cavs beat the Timberwolves like that’s the best performance we seen from Garland not only just since coming back
From uh jaw surgery uh but also just general this season and it made you feel optimistic that there is like a way and a path forward for the Cavs to really just start to turn it back on with him but it’s been hit or miss um but I’m
Cautiously optimistic that he can get it going when the playoffs start because you had noted this on Monday show that the Cavs do had the luxury of like almost a week off before the playoffs really begin like that’s an opportunity for Garland to rest recover maybe
Getting some extra work just to kind of get his weight up to where he would like it to be and hopefully he’s doing a little bit better but if he’s not consistent or if he’s just kind of like you know in and out and going through the motions at times that could really
Hamper and kill things for the Cavs come playoff time and it just gets even tougher for them what about you I I I don’t know if I’m optimistic I I more I’m still pretty concerned I think ultimately just because it doesn’t look right and I I thought in this game I
Just thought some of the mistakes he made don’t strike me as a guy who’s playing with real confidence right now I think some of the fouls he had in this game were were a little bit silly there are obviously moments where he looks good and figures of out and he
Had some good plays in this game it’s not that he didn’t it’s just that the overall package just isn’t close to where it feels like it needs to be and he look we’ll get to this when we talk about the Pacers as a playoff opponent in in segment three that match up I
Don’t know if they need him at like an a level yeah but do they need him at an a level against Miami I would think so I would think if they slide lower and get New York they’re absolutely going to like there’s just they need a better version of Garland to maximize whatever
This season is going to be and it still feels kind of far away right now and look I again I want to be as sympathetic as you can be with some of these issues it’s just at a at a time it’s there’s also a time where I’m
Like okay uh I I wonder if you’re if this is is just something of a lost year a little bit and that that’s the concerning part for me yeah I think lost year is just I mean you can just chock it up to that in general just because of
The injuries and the fact that he has been hampered by them almost every step of the way it’s just been an opportune timing almost every time we turn around for Garland in the Cavs just figuring out like what his fit is just with his revamped offense or just Donovan Mitchell again cuz like
Surprisingly those two did not mesh the start of the season um and it wasn’t really able for them to build off of the foundation that they had pretty easily put together last year and like that was surprising um but we’ll see uh a lot can change in the next month of course but
If it’s more the same yeah I think you can start to ring the the the alarm Bell a little bit louder than maybe you were before yeah and look maybe we’ll see Wednesday he looks good or something maybe he looks good against the like there there’s still opportunity there’s
Still time but it’s it’s more it’s running out for Garland in terms of this regular season after this yeah go ahead no no was agree with you go ahead all right after this Marcus Morris having a great debut Isaac aoro doing Isaac aoro things and we’re going
To tell you the adjustment from D bicker staff that had a real part in swinging this game something he decided for Te to do for a small spurt hope the Cavs get back in this game and and put up a good number defensively we’ll talk about that after this

National Sports 247 streaming Channel we have been on there a few times so when we’re on there we’ll let you know it’s pretty cool Evan let’s start with Marcus Morris I have a trivia question for you before we get into his performance sure okay can you tell me the last Cleveland
Cavalier to wear number 24 oh Lai marinin who was it before that cuz that’s correct uh this is this is the hard D this where they would Maris Balden who I didn’t remember played for the Cleveland Cavaliers oh yeah he was a yeah he was a preseason guy and I think
Was on a tway for a hot second until the Cavs uh just moved on from it and I think Bolton’s actually with the Bucks in some capacity now too so he’s still bounc it around but yeah yeah two uh two two games with the Bucks this year two games
With Charlotte uh with Cleveland six games one year one year before not ever a lot of minutes the NBA not 11 total games over like five years so tough before that Larry NS Jr were 24 Richard Jefferson were 24 Scotty Hopson Shane Edwards samardo Samuels Trey Johnson who
I don’t remember Daniel Marshall Jason Kono Andre Miller pretty good list of guys to 24 yeah um I think um the absolute best of the bunch was uh samaro Samuels so respecting hats off to a King Legend C Legends Z Marto Sams real heads the traumatized no but look Marcus Morris in
This game Evan was exactly what I think he’d wanted to be played about 20 minutes took five threes made four of them was a little feisty got boards played in the fourth quarter like this as far as the debuse goes and a guy understanding kind of what he’s going to
Be asked to be on this specific team in this specific role pretty good for for Marcus Morris a guy in its ended deal right now yeah I mean like a really good debut for him overall I’m going to pull up this stat real quick as I think about it
But uh Marcus Morris is the first player in Cavs history to score 14 points off the venge in his debut since January 20th 2021 when Toran Prince had 17 points versus the Brooklyn Nets but yeah morus gave the Cavs a bit of a spark in this game I was actually pretty pleasantly surprised
That fit the mold of kind of what you expected of course but also just the fact that he was really able to bring some juice and just you know give them a little bit of that veteran presence and was really surreal to see like a front
Court rotation of at times that just had Morris at the three or Nang Nang at the three or at the four and then Tristan Thompson at the five like Thompson and Morris both really brought it in this game but like yeah really good debut for Morris and you you hope it continues
Against Miami and Minnesota the rest of this week and that uh he just continues playing harder and harder and better and better and then it becomes either a second 10 day or just like a regular contract for the rest of the season I I think he just makes sense for
The rest of we talked about this yesterday but this is just very clearly the the path I think for this kind of guy um yeah like if he’s going to come in and do this and you give him just enough to to do that kind of stuff and
He just understands that this is what he’s going to be like that’s cool and like he also just seemed to immediately kind of fit in with the energy of the team which is a plus like the fact that it it wasn’t he didn’t feel like he hadn’t been there before right like it
Felt like he was connected with these guys already like you know I’m sure like all these guys kind of know each other and they run in the same circles the NBA is not like the biggest place but the fact that he just kind of comes in and
Matches what is already going on in in the positive sense like that feels right to me again it’s a 10-day signing I don’t know how much of an impact he’s ultimately going to make but this is pretty good indications that at least you’re getting something here out of
Marcus Morris I mean the in the interim um for like like yeah for the next 10 days until Dean way comes back until you get back Donovan Mitchell until you get back max Tru until you get back Heaven moley like in the itum this is very impactful basketball at least in the
First game of I think maybe like four or five games that he can technically play for qualify for with the Cavs but regardless he yeah just really good debut for him um curious to see uh how long this sticks but I also agree with through take that like the the fit right
Away was kind of surprising like I noticed in this game that he’s just a dude who’s playing with a little bit more energy and pep in his step like he like there’s a Minnesota player or excuse me not a Minnesota Indiana player taking a free throw and as soon as the
Ball went up like Morris is already getting back on defense and get getting set and like sure he wasn’t perfect on defense but he was playing with a lot of energy and a lot of hustle and gave the Cavs a bench spark that they definitely needed especially after a pretty flat first
Quarter Isaac a Coro to me Evan is Jared Allen too just ho home like pretty good night for him again but Isaac uro has you know it’s nine it’s a steel it’s not the most impactful night if you look at the box score but that guy is just everywhere defensively
He’s really smart and he had a bunch of just big moments in this game as far as down the stretch goes um you Ty halberton hasn’t been great lately but aoro definitely didn’t let him find a Groove at all especially like in clutch moments I he really stood out
And that atto defensive like setup the Cavs did like we just threw the Pacers in total disarray because aoro would not leave H Burton alone and um the Pacers just started scrambling like they inbounded the ball to sakam and then like eventually got it back to halberton
But it was just moot point just because aoro was being a game wrecker for the Cavs in those clutch possessions which is what you need him to be obviously when you’re so underman but also like come playoff time like that’s just really valuable to have especially when
He’s you know not dealing with a high ankle spring that’s going to sideline him for a month yeah and and look the little cut he has the in the game is just everything I want that is just what if he’s going to slide in and not be the
Corner three guy which his first shot of the game was a a pretty clean corner three if he’s just going to cut in and dart in and find those little spots where he does that all you need from him it doesn’t have it is not complicated I
Think for him to Be an Effective player we just we know exactly what he’s going to be the defensive point on Halbert is is the key D too like you you can do having him as your main primary Defender when you’re playing manto man just helps and whatever series they’re going to be
In whether it’s Indiana whether it’s Miami whe whoever it is whatever round you’re going to need to play a core real minute it’s I think it’s just inevitable at this point um Ian speaking of defense last thing Z defense first half I think really helped to get this game put
Indiana out of rhythm they didn’t really know what to do with it the cat we have not seen a lot of from the Cavs the last two years really I like when you sprinkle it in every here and there I’d like to see it when Moby gets back since
That was such a key part of his rookie year if we want to go all the way back but rolling it out in this game against Indiana team that when you’ve watched them when I’ve watched them and you read about them for and listen to them un
Locked on Pacers and all that they just aren’t in a rhythm offensively at all right now it feels like nothing’s really kind of coming together a Zone like flums them in a way that is kind of perplexing but it worked and credit to GB bicker staff for pulling that
Lever yeah uh really smart call on bicker staff’s part I think he coached his pants off in this game too like the uh challenge he had in the closing moments was also huge for them but like yeah switching to the zone and just kind of forcing the Pacers to
Settle what’s up talk about the CH we should talk about the challenge when you’re done because I forgot about that and George ning’s face is incredible incredible like disbelief in like actual honest NBA disb and also like George was pretty big for the Cavs in this game
Three or four from three but like Pascal cakam like made it seem like he was getting shot with some of the physicality just like how hard he’s flying back but either way the The two3 Zone made a lot of sense for the Cavs especially when you are underman to
Begin with but also like the spacers team as you isn’t a funk and the fact that you held them to 9 of 38 from three-point range by forcing them to settle for three-point attempts either in art and Rhythm or just within the flow of their actual offense or just you know low
Efficiency uh very tight contested jumpers because you’re Walling off the paint and kind of preventing them from getting looks on the inside like that’s just really smart and I think just you know kyp know your personnel and the Cavs definitely took care of that or did that you you you had here dropping
Acronyms yeah I know what k means I don’t know if I ever heard that before um the challenge is just very funny because it obviously was the right call but just like I understand how the ref misses that in real time but also just like when you roll it back how in how
George credit to him did everything he could to to make seaka commit that turnover uh was really really incredible and just a very funny moment to see just how clearly upset he was when that that happened and just perplex that they they’re they’re not calling on him to
Your point it’s understandable why maybe you miss that call in real time it’s easier when you have the benefit of instant replay and watching it a certain distance back uh on on the broadcast at home but yeah it was just a really funny possession kind of chaotic I also think
Just the way JB bicker staff kind of emphatically challenged the call is pretty funny and of itself too but hey biger staff kind of has a knack for clutch time challenges this season and it’s uh really been working out coming up after this the Indiana Pacers would be the

Last segment here Evan the the Indiana Pacers if you look at playoffstatus.com which does a really great job tracking possible playoff outcomes mhm they have a 27% chance of being the six seed and a 31% chance of being the seven seed they are the most likely six seed
In the East if you look at the the breakdowns as of right now as it so happens the Cleveland Cavaliers are the most likely three seed they have a 37% chance in their model of being the number three seed a 28% chance of being the number two seed you can
Look at uh different ports and you know run different things if you look at basketball reference for instance uh the Cleveland and Milwaukee are much more even as far as the two seed goes with Cleveland you Milwaukee being more locked into three than Cleveland is and with Cleveland more of
A chance of falling to four for what for just based on the standings and in their model I will just say that if the Cleveland Cavaliers ended up as the three seed and the milwauke and the Indiana Pacers excuse me ended up as the
Six seed what a what a win for the C Cavaliers honestly if you’re talking about the possible playoff matchups that they could get in round one in in any case and it’s if I’m ranking them Indiana is the one I want number one clearly we should do an episode kind of
Ranking possible first round opponents but if I’m looking at who I actually want in round one give me the Pacers absolutely it is a bit of a interesting tunal shift for us at least just because we talked about this on Monday show like between the magic or the Pacers we both kind of
Agreed that uh Indiana seemed suboptimal just because of how the Cavs had played them this year but yeah did I did we did I I don’t I don’t know I don’t know if that this doesn’t feel I don’t know if that’s that’s how I would have how I
Would remember that but I don’t remember what I said like five minutes ago sometimes well actually no this I I lied this is a conversation I have Justin Rowan so psych um yeah what’s up I would I don’t know what you you guys are on you guys are off and
That’s that’s a bad take by both of you honestly that’s a bad take well just in the interum based on how the Cavs were performing at the time and um just how the Pacers kind of seem to have Cleveland’s number to start the season um yeah I I understand the timate but
Yeah like this Pacers team is in disarray they are not good defensively especially with tyes Halbert and like just you know being continually frustrated and kind of getting his water shut off and also just you know being a liability for Indiana defensively like this is a more ideal match up for the Cavs
And it gives you the luxur of like you know avoiding Miami or avoiding Orlando and then like yeah sure you’re likely locked into a second round match up with the bucks but on the spectrum of the bracket like in sure Milwaukee’s been playing better and the Cavs have never
Played them while they have been coached by Doc Rivers but it does give you like a little bit more of like a cleaner path to the Eastern Conference Finals just because um that way uh it’s a see you went two and two against like you know Isaac aoro
Can play very good defense on Damen Lillard and things like that but um I don’t know I think the Pacers and the Bucks would be interesting just because they’re both division opponents but at least hey you’re avoiding Boston or like Miami for as long as you yeah the thing
Every that everyone cares about most in the NBA divisions hey man um the Cavs will put a banner up if they won the division they have not they’ve done it before they’ve won the division like almost 10 years look I you get to the second round
I don’t like you’re going to play hard teams then like you just are it’s unavoidable I I don’t care Indiana even the last two weeks has had like a good like run like they’re six in offense last few weeks I don’t really think that feels as accurate as as the numbers
Would say they just don’t the process doesn’t feel quite right to me when I watch them seaka hurn thing just hasn’t really clicked it’s a really good offense and a really bad defense and if I look at how they’re playing right now I don’t exactly understand their if they’
Figured out what their full identity is whereas orl like I’m picking the Cavs against the magic too but like Orlando at least I understand what their identity is and I think Indiana feels like a little bit like yeah like Indiana feels like a little bit rudderless to me
Right now in way that just from watching them maybe Pacers fans can tell me I’m wrong whatever I’m going to ask Tony East if if I’m incorrect I’ll report back but Tony’s from Lock Pacers but I this is just like if you’re telling me like I you could play Indiana or Miami
Or Orlando or like Philly I’m taking the Pacers 10 times out of 10 and it’s the easiest decision I could I could make yeah and also I think we were wrong on the 24 thing by the way I just thought of it technically speaking I think Luke Travers War 24 last for the
Cavs during the summer league but that does that I’m B but that doesn’t that look Summer League champions all that stuff doesn’t count doesn’t count okay okay if you say so if you say so if it’s not on the basketball reference page then it doesn’t count I mean it like it
Like half counts let’s see what number he wears when he comes over that’s that’s the real answer I’ll count it if he wears 24 yeah okay um either way yeah I think the Pacers are the more ideal outcome just because defensively they are a mess the Cavs have the pressure points to
Make Indiana uncomfortable like you can match tyres halberton almost minute for minute if you wanted to with Isaac aoro depending on whether or not like you feel comfortable telling Max dreu who still may not be 100% to come off the bench and let um uh aoro handle that business like if
Evan Mo’s back and he is you know that the ankle injuries an afterthought and his uh he is still doing okay like um he is a fun match up against seak um I think Allen just you know wiing off the interior is good too like in terms
Of just personel the Cavs have like a lot of good players that can kind of just mitigate what the Pacers can throw at them versus maybe other teams and like you said like I do have an understanding if the orando magicar where they are young athletic long as
Heck and very Scrappy and annoying so I don’t know we’ll see and also you know the Cs have Marcus Morris senior so maybe that adds them gives them extra wrinkle to that uh no team can really prepare for uh this late in the season so the just I check this real
Quick Sumer League roster was Luke Travers wore 46 this year he wore 33 the year before okay well goes to show I’m not paying attention I just know he wears 23 in Australia so I’m like well the Cavs are going to let him wear that so 24 is
The next logical step apologies Travers family and Dynasty yeah he wore 46 uh Craig Porter who wears number nine now uh that was a weird that’s a weird jersey number team it’s like the Celtics because they retire every single number no demand um Pete n were 48 these are bad
Numbers yeah that is an odd number um I don’t know the numbers are silly anyway as long as you’re good at what you do and able to perform and give the team what you can that’s all that really matters thanks Dad that that was a very
Father that was a that was a very father of the way for us to end the show Evan all right we’re going to end there Cavs beat the Pacers get a tiebreaker as well notably um in these playoff in this playoff run with this winner of the Indiana Pacers Cleveland
Cavaliers has had some real playoff uh they wrap it’s the first Victory against Indiana this year um this is a good M Cavaliers a good win on the road without Donovan Mitchell without other guys we’ll see where it goes Cavs eat at home on Wednesday we’ll talk to you
Before that game after that game all week here on lock on Cavs have a great week

These guys are too nice. Cleveland media as a whole is far too nice, making excuses for poor play… DG is a walking, breathing turnover. Given the personnel mix, he's a better fit coming off the bench when DM returns…
Get DM HEALTHY…MORRIS will help stretch the floor…CAN'T PLAY DG at the END of games!!!
Garland was a plus ten and Haliburton was a minus 7. Neither played well.
Caris is TALLER…better D…better rebounding…plus takes better care of the ball than DG…FACT!!!!
TT is still playing as good as he did before the suspension, that's great.
