The Indiana Pacers need to make three-point shots to consistently win | Pacers lose to Cavaliers

Another day another Pacers close game loss at home another loss to a team that’s short-handed this Pacers team cannot make a three they cannot win a clutch game halberton struggles again defense was kind of good though lots to talk about on today’s lockdown Pacers podcast you are locked on Pacers your

Daily Indiana Pacers podcast part of the locked on podcast Network your team every day happy Tuesday y’all and welcome into another edition of the laon Pacers podcast where we of course talk about the Nana Pacers as always my name’s Tony East I cover the team for Forbes and Si

And today we’re talking Pacers caves of the Pacers give up 108 that’s great they’re usually great when they give up that number and they lose 54 to the short-handed Cavs at home another clutch loss for the Pacers who were tied late in the game another Dreadful three-point

Shooting night for the Pacers who have been awful awful from Deep since the All-Star break Tyrus halberton struggled again but their defense was a little better that’s nice uh what’s not nice is the Pacers lost the game to the short-handed Cavs they needed to get

This win against a team that you know is ahead of him in the standings the the schedule says this is a tough game but they had a chance with Donovan Mitchell out with Evan Mo out with maxu out they were up big early 13-point lead in the

First half and they blow it they lose the game they blow it late in the final minute missing a few shots down the stretch really they gave it away to me in the second quarter when they were up 13 and the Cavs went Zone every so often

Mixing it in and the Pacers did not make a shot for about six minutes in that quarter they were still tied at halftime they still had their chances but that stretch where they could have put the game away put the Cavs on the last game

Of a road trip uh under they couldn’t do it to me though this game starts and ends with the three-point shooting of the Indiana Pacers and this has been such a dramatic identity shift for this team since the All-Star break right before right they they should be winning

This game just big picture to start with this before tonight when the Pacers give up fewer than 109 points this season they lose this game 108 103 is the final score before tonight if they gave up fewer than 109 points they were undefeated this season 6-0 under 110

They were 6-1 under 112 they were 11 and two right usually they are excellent when they hold a team to a small number or at least for them a small number given that their pace is so high and they did that tonight their defense was

Good this should be a game that they win and yet they didn’t because they couldn’t score that’s not typical of the Pacers to score 103 and because on the flip side of what I just said right yes they win a lot when they give up a few

Points when they score very few points they’re terrible if they score one 10 or fewer as has been well broadcast this season they have not won a game they are now 0 and 17 at 110 or fewer they have quite a few wins in the low 110 but they

Just can’t get over that Bugaboo this kind of game is really tough for them and they needed to not be in this kind of game and to not be in this kind of game they need to score more and in this specific game it all starts and ends

With shooting to me on the season Pacers are still well at least I entered the day maybe not anymore 10th and three-point percentage they get up a decent number in terms of just raw putting the ball in the basket on offense their offensive four factors their effective field goal percentage is

Second best in the NBA that’s why they’ve been so good they score a lot and they don’t turn it over that often that’s great they did not do that today this has been perhaps the biggest story for the Pacers since the lar break and they found ways around it as we just

Talked about yesterday they beat the Nets over the weekend because they dominated the paint they only hadit six threes against the Nets but they dominated the paint on both ends they had this defensive identity and that was great and I said they need to keep playing like this if their shot is going

To escape them and then they played the Cavs and they tried to play like that the Cavs did a much better job protecting the rim Pacers 54 points in the paint they only allowed 44 that’s excellent but they only scored 54 they couldn’t get enough on the board to

Actually beat Cleveland and so they need to rely on their shooting and their offensive efficiency something that’s normally been reliable for them this season and it wasn’t there Pacers nine of 38 from three in this game Dreadful Dreadful 23.7% this is a theme for for them of

Late that 23.7% would be their seventh few uh worst night from Deep this season they made less than 10 threes despite taking 39 they’ve had 17 games this season before tonight where they made fewer than 10 threes they only attempted 39 or more threes in one of those games

Their lost to the Boston Celtics uh in January at home right so that was an unusually poor shooting night given their volume right generally I’m of the opinion this isn’t always true but I am generally of the opinion that the Pacers take pretty good threes right they

Generate good threes and they take the generally not again not always but they take good open high expected value given their Shooters threes if you’re able to get up 38 I would in theory think that’s a good sign but they only made nine and the reason it’s and in theory good thing

Is because on paper they’re a good shooting team right now they are not they are absolutely not and it is the biggest story for this team since the All-Star break team stats just straight up team numbers post All-Star break the Pacers have now played 13 games they’re seven and six they are shooting

33% from three in that stretch 33% that is 29th in the NBA the only team shooting worse from three since the All-Star break is the Charlotte Hornets the Charlotte Hornets to be clear about how important three-point shooting can be or at least the ability to generate

Threes that have a good chance to go in here are the bottom uh let’s say seven teams in three-point percent since the elar break the Charlotte Hornets who are terrible the Pacers the Memphis Grizzlies who are terrible the Detroit Pistons who are terrible the Knicks who are pretty good the Wizards who are

Terrible and the Rockets who are terrible but are playing much better recently and right above these teams is the Bulls the Raptors and the Blazers who all also suck it’s all bad teams and then also the Pacers in the Knicks and that obviously we know making shots is

More important than missing shots we’re not you know change in the world here but that is obviously important stuff at the top of the three-point shooting list in y Allstar break Boston’s in first New Orleans in third Oklahoma City in fourth Milwaukee in sixth Cleveland who they

Just played in seventh Denver in eighth right like obviously again making shots is good the best teams are still doing it they’re rolling in that way so the difference is right if you sort by preall star you’d get a lot of similar results right the best teams in

Three-point shooting the thunder in the top 10 the Celtics are in the top 10 the Pelicans are in the top 10 the Bucks are in the top 10 we just ran through those teams right but the Pacers were fourth before the All-Star break the Pacers were fourth in the NBA in three-point

Percentage and since the alar break they are second to last in the league they entered today bottom five and then were worse than that number that is killing them because th this this should be a bigger story and I’ll I’ll mention it now and I’ll talk about a little bit but

Like the Pacers defense has been okay since the All-Star break decently good if you sort by every team in the NBA for their last six games which includes tonight for the Pacers the Pacers are six sixth in defensive rating that’s pretty good post All-Star break they’re

Now up to uh oh they fell well there were other games since I put tight this number down they’re still 17th which for them is a big Improvement and their net rating since the allstar break is still good in large part because of that defense like that is progress for this

Team but they can’t consistently be winning because the shots aren’t falling and it’s not it starts with Tyrese halberton of course as I talked about yesterday the exact same things that have been happening to him happen again in this game where a lot of stats are like very Tyrese halber 12 assists right

Six rebounds made all five of his free throws on twos he was three for five 60% above his season average a lot of numbers say normal tyres hurn game and then he shoots one for nine from three he hit one in the fourth quarter that almost started the guiding of a comeback

They tied the game up not long after a minute but at one for nine that’s Dreadful he had three turnovers as well they lost his minutes by seven right that he is the face of it because he’s by far the highest volume shooter on the team

Also tonight Ben Shepard one for five uh Jaylen Smith two for S Andrew nard one for four Aaron n Smith one for five and so I’m not saying all this to ignore Tyrese hurn I just did an entire segment yesterday on his recent struggles from three and why it’s so important and what

It’s kind of bled into for his game and the way he’s playing a little differently because of it you know even tonight like sometimes you see where he he looks at the rim and hesitates in ways that he doesn’t or or any number of different things where it’s like clearly

It even if it’s a half of a half of a second that’s a quarter of a second Tony um you know that processing speed where he’s thinking do I really want to shoot this is different than what you saw from Tyrus Halton but it’s not just him it is

Not just him right if you look at the entire Pacers roster in three-point percentage you go pre-all-star break for the Pacers Jaylen Smith on fire 48.4% eron Smith 45% seak in his 15 games the Pacers before the alar break hit 41% of his threes Obie toppen was at 40.3%

Halberton was at 40% but he healed above League average even in a Down Season frame at 38% jerus Walker at 37 and Ben Ma at 36.6 that’s eight guys I almost counted wrong above League average percentage from three on good volume now if you’ll read that list again Ben Maan

Out for the season but he healed no longer on the team that’s already two of the six you know out of that equation and their defense has improved of course but if you go post All-Star and sort the Pacers roster by three-point percentage first up you have T.J McConnell at 70%

He doesn’t takes less than one game so it’s a little different Maan at 41% he’s out for the season Ben Shepard at 39.7% Miles Turner at 37.7% n Smith at 36.8% they have Five Guys above League average everybody else is below it one of them

Is out for the season and one of them takes very few per game Shepard has been struggling of lady had that 0 for five game against the Bulls they barely lost and again like I said he was off tonight Turner’s been good n Smith’s been improving after being in a slump but a

Lot of guys are down from three seak com’s at 30% in the stretch topin at 32% in this stretch Jaylen Smith at 28% since the break halberton now at 21% since the break Doug mcder who hasn’t even been playing that much but is supposed to be a shooter was at 16.7%

They need it yes halberton is the face of it his game is predicated on being able to hit these crazy threes that he’s been hitting mostly his whole career but every body is in a slump from three for the Pacers and some of that’s that their offense isn’t humming the same way but

Some of it’s that they just need to make these shots from Beyond The Arc and maybe it’ll come via just an avalanche of Threes against one opponent who knows and it’s of course Very obvious to say yes they’re missing shots and they’re losing as a result but in games where

They can get up 38 of them right Jaylen Smith is not just taking seven threes he doesn’t create his own threes Ben Shepard does not just take five threes same with Daren n Smith they are generally created for them by things that have within the Pacers offense or

Their talented creators and they still shoot poorly and that is a problem for the Pacers they’ve got to be better from deep it was their biggest issue in this Los C Cavs where they defended well enough to win they held them to 108 but they could not get it done plenty more

To talk about halber clutch play defense all sorts of stuff from Pacers Cavs as the Pacers fall to 38 and 31 coming right up here on lockdown Pacers but first we’ve got to talk about Stitch fix with Stitch fix you get a stylist who understands your style size and budget

Pacers thanks for making us your first listen today and every single day for your second listen lock on Cavs he about the winning side of this Cavs needed this win because it UPS their division record and helps I believe their tiebreaker with the Bucks in the chase

For the two seed and anyone without Donovan Mitchell of course big for the Cavs they didn’t even play that well to me um but they got it done like no one player felt particularly dominant I thought Caris lver played pretty well darus scarland kind of manipulated the

Pacers but no one should have been as dominant as the score line suggests really odd game for two Pacers games in a row where the script does not really match what we’ve seen from the Pacers often this season let’s pivot to an under discussed topic next to me I mean

If you look at the Pacers recent run right since they had that Spurs loss where they just got ran out of the building in San Antonio one of their worst losses the season given the opponent quality you know they are 4 and three in their last seven games they’ve won uh

All three Road games they’ve played in that stretch and then they’ve played four at home and they’re one and three at home they beat Brooklyn and they lost to Minnesota they lost to Chicago they lost to Cleveland here’s the theme of those that’s been interesting to me all

Close games they lose by two to Minnesota and they’re tied late in that game right Anthony Edwards went crazy he had the play of his life he said after the game he’s never jumped that high but he blacked Daren n Smith the Wolves win and the wolves have not been a good

Clutch team but they were against Pacers and Anthony Edwards was unbelievable the Bulls the Pacers were ahead late in that game and then D rozan went crazy and the Pacers kind of vomited all over themselves at times in the clutch in that one and the Bulls get it done in

Overtime Pacers only overtime game the season they lost and then the Cavs in town last night game’s tied in the final minute and the Pacers do not get it done missing a shot that could have tied it late not being able to get the stops

When they need it they tied it up at 103 with two minutes to go uh Levert scores halberton misses a three siakam steps out of bounds because of great defense from George yangang okoro scores on the next possession Pacers never have a chance again and lose by five I said

They were tied inside the last minute um they were tied inside the last two minutes before Caris over and hit that fadeaway all that to say they have been tied oread in all of their last three losses at home in the last like minute or two of the game they’re right there

But the clutch play has not been good enough for the Pacers of light and so we’re going to do another pre-all-star post Allstar split really quickly if you look at every team in the League’s clutch stats uh before the All-Star break the Pacers were 10th in clutch net

Rating 120 offense great 108 defense also great um and they were 16- 11 in clutch games that’s great that’s a good way to survive your season uh a lot of the teams above them are pretty good teams the Mavs the Celtics the Knicks the nuggets the Clippers the Thunder the

Bucks those are the teams that were among the teams that were better than them in the clutch before the All-Star break that’s a big deal for the Pacers to go 1611 post All-Star break oof o is all I can say Pacers in the clutch since the All-Star break have

A clutch net rating I have to scroll down a little farther of minus 14.8 they’re one and five in clutch game since the allar break that is the fewest wins in the league of any team uh since the break and the five losses is the

Most of any team with only one win the other teams Golden State uh Charlotte Brooklyn and Boston are a one and less than five so the Pacers have been record-wise the worst clutch team in the league since the break they’ve played in six games which suggests they’re right

There they’re in it right that’s above average in theory you’d expect you know in an average like pretend that every clutch game that means that for 43 minutes the teams were within five points right you could say if you did that for infinite mathematical simulations it’s a 50-50 chance to win

And now the Pacers have crashed back to 5050 for their full season clutch record right after that 16- 11 start the Pacers now uh in in their 33 clutch games are 17 and 16 right so in theory that math is holding true but they were a good

Clutch team and now they are not their net rating is Dreadful and I think if you’ve watched the Pacers it’s been very interesting the way this has gone their offensive rating in the clutch in sear break is just as good as it was before 122.75 minutes but still their defensive

Rating in the clutch since the All-Star break is unbelievably bad unbelievably 137.5 defensive rating that is atrocious 13 7.5 unbelievable um the only two teams with a worse defensive rating than the Pacers in since the All-Star break have played a total of 13 clutch minutes the Pacers themselves have played 23

That is a really killer problem for them in these games they get into that have been tight they’ve been able to defend well throughout the game but not in those moments they cannot do it sometimes they’re trying to force errors like tonight when they were trying to

Get the Cavs out the ball out of Garland or Levert’s hands and the Cavs Just Whipped it around and eventually Jared Allen found a cutting Isaac Coral wide open under the basket right the cuts have been killer for them but that has been a big issue for the Pacers of late

Especially as they’ve lost some close ones at home since the break their win I believe was that New Orleans game uh at the very end of February but losing to Toronto was you know another one that they were right there late in that game like they have just got to be better uh

In these clutch games I think that Spurs game ended up counting as a clutch game because they were within five in the last five minutes even though they ended up losing by 10 so they they just have to defend better late in these games it is currently holding them back quite a

Bit it held them back in this game where they did well to mount this comeback and then the Cavs just go berserk in the last five minutes of this game the Cavs only scored eight points that’s pretty good the Pacers were also down by five

Or excuse me down by three when the last five minutes came and down by five with 448 to go and they lost by five so they needed to be better in those last five minutes than they were even though they came all the way back to TI it they were

Far in away they didn’t score for the last two minutes of the game and they gave up five points in that stretch that’s not going to do it they’ve got to be better in the clutch obviously ain’t going crazy and D rozan going crazy is potentially you could say two outlier

Things but it’s still a problem for the Pacers they need to be better and crisper in these clutch situations because one of the only positives you could take away from this game the defense was good again 108 allowed for the Pacers like I said earlier they’ve actually defended pretty well recently

Right top six in defensive rating in their last six games is legitimately very impressive right they’ve been much more physical as noted by the team and by my eyeballs in that stretch right that’s a good thing I think that is something the Pacers can hang their hat

On not saying they will but being the sixth best defensive team they have a plus 5.4 net rating since the alar break ninth best in the NBA they’re only they’re only three and three um excuse me in that last six games they’re defending really well they’re three and

Three despite having a top 10 that rating in the league in that stretch like they just need to find a way to have that defense translate to clutch time or to actually score the ball and make threes that hasn’t been happening but you’ve seen it right the the

Opponent Point totals alone which is not a good stat because there’s some Pace stuff involved right a 100 allow against Brooklyn 11 11 against OKC 97 against Orlando 113 against Minnesota 117 against the Spurs even though they lost that game like 114 against the Pelicans in that win like these are all good

Results numbers-wise for the Pacers there are bad games in that stretch where they got got mowed down by New Orleans in New Orleans and that Chicago game that went to overtime uh they’ve been better largely defending that’s a good thing that is one of the few positive that’s come out of the last

Couple weeks for the Pacers and if they’re going to reach the playoffs they’re going to need to be able to defend at that level for some extended stretches right they were up big early in this game against the Cavs up 13 of the first half because their defense had

Some significantly strong moments in that first half but it wasn’t good in the clutch it wasn’t good in the clutch against the Bulls it wasn’t good in the clutch against ant it was good enough he hit some nutso shots and that is where they need to improve their defense

Because largely their sample recently is looking better right clearly a growth area they’re still near the bottom of the league in defensive rating but this is an improving area for the team after losing some guys in some transactions they’re now up two on the season H why

Is my sorting going so poorly on nba.com today uh for the season now after this recent stretch of slightly better uh defensive play if if nba.com will let me sort it nope it won’t okay great um they’re climbing the defense there we go they are now to 25th and defense out of

The bottom five there we go for the Pacers next in their sights the Raptors and Spurs if they want to get out of the bottom eight we’ll see how that goes there’s plenty more to talk about from Pacers Cavs halton’s game some other players who actually did well and would

Injured Anthony Edwards playing well and David lock radio voice of the Jazz host that show check out lock on Jazz for the latest on the Utah Jazz the last team I saw news about before I started recording this episode let’s talk about a couple other things of note from this

Game I already talked a little bit about tyres Halbert and there was just some moments in this game where you could just feel feel like it was a little different from his impact right I’ve said this more recently and maybe this is just me being lazy and not being able

To come up with the perfect description for what I’m trying to say but like when the Pacers were struggling on that road trip early this month when they lost to the Pelicans in the Spurs you would just tell their offense looked different and I think in this game even though tyres

Halberton outside of his threes had a normal statistical night it just didn’t feel the same all the time five FS three turnovers in a way that was significant he’s just got to find a way out of this slump for the Pacers he just has to they’re trying to find other ways to get

Him involved in going and they’re staggering their rotational ways that make sense and siakam’s playing well and they’re getting ball handling on the floor and it all will click if they make the threes and that starts with their best shooter now on the team at least

Should be their best shooter but has not been of late tyres Halbert and we will see if it ever comes around um sanum good again they get the ball to him 18 shots he has 19 points with them because he struggled from the foul line he was

One for four there um but largely efficient inside the paint four offensive rebounds 12 in total that was all very good stuff part of the reason the Pacers were keeping up in this game and were dominating uh at times early was their work on The Possession game they had

Five more offensive rebounds in the Cavs and three Fe were turnovers and that really helped them kind of maintain a balance they took 11 more shots in the Cavs although Cleveland did get to the foulon I thought that was something good from the Pacers and siakam’s offensive

Rebounds were a big part of that right he continues to very much impressed me on the glass of L he averaged over 10 rebounds per week last week um he’s been a beast in that way for the pce I think that’s part of what their new focus is

In terms of being physical is it doesn’t just stop start and stop with defense it includes more including rebounding and shakum has been excellent in that way where Carlile been very appreciative of his defense in recent pressers TJ McConnell still the Beating Heart of this Pacers team so often of late I

Thought this was said well I can’t remember who tweeted this during the game like it’s very good that TJ McConnell is helping the Pacers this much and has been playing this well it’s alarming that they need TJ McConnell to be this good all the time to have a

Chance against some of these teams he was cruising for the second unit again seven for 11 for 14 points and four assists I mean he’s just an awesome player recently he’s hitting well over 60% of his shots all the time on unique shot attempts that defenses routinely

Don’t see they’re not used to it they’re not ready for it sometimes I think that’s been a really impressive and important thing for the Pacers obviously been well broadcasted how good TJ McConnell has been but again in this game especially in the first half when the Pacers bench was drolling right top

And came in he did his thing he’s been very important subbing in early for the Pacers he had 10 and eight he was plus eight Ben Shepard was an active Defender Jaylen Smith made some first half threes and mccon was running the whole show I thought that was significant for the

Pacers and had they won I probably would have dedicated a bench segment to this game because the starters weren’t good enough uh but the bench was and I that was important for the Pacers in this game noteworthy by the way in the Pacers substitution pattern change in this game

Ninan rotation no jarus Walker did not play coach’s decision uh perhaps the Pacers really wanted to get this win perhaps there was something about the matchup that made them not play jarus I did not ask Rick Carla about it after the game there were a lot of people in

The Press Room who needed their turns asking questions I got why I needed but jarus Walker did not play um in this game they only played nine guys very interesting Choice from the Pacers but that meant you know topen was in his early route as usual and then

Sakam of course playing uh in all the minutes the topin not out there and they went to shakum with the three next to topen and to center a few times throughout this game I always think that look is very interesting and they went to that again in this game but no jarus

So only a fourman bench as they try to stagger the stars and make sure they have one of hurn or seak out there for All 48 minutes Miles Turner uh got a block still five short of the franchise record he hit two threes which is significant because him and Jaylen Smith

Were the only Pacers to hit two threes Turner two for four he hit 50% everybody else either only made one or shot poorly from three Turner a nominee for conference player of the week last week having a pretty good time right now on both ends of the floor but there’s not a

Ton of guys to really dive into from a positive perspective leading score only at 19 points defense was good but not defense was good but not so good that they were able to to win a game you know the fouling was kind of an issue in this

Game at times like it’s really hard to yank a ton of positives out of this game a game the Pacers probably feel like they should have won right no Max stru no Donovan Mitchell no Evan Moy three guys you know the Cavs the Pacers beat them twice earlier this season and

Granted these teams are much different than they were then but Pacers unable to beat the short-handed Cavs they were torched by George Nang in the parts of the first half Marcus Morris senior who uh hasn’t been on a team for a while hit four threes you know that’s just one of

Those you shrug and you give it to him three of them were heavily contested two I think were at the buzzer of the shot clock and those just went in right one of those kind of nights for the Pacers they needed somebody to be a little bit

Better to be a game-changing force yakum was close but not quite there and the Pacers lose and they are now 38 and 31 now they did uh the Pacers did see the Heat play the 76ers last night and I’m of the opinion that the Pacers wanted

The Sixers to win that game I don’t know I’m never going to ask anybody with the team but because I think it’s more likely the Pacers can finish ahead of the Sixers than the heat so any heat loss is good for the Pacers the Sixers did win that game so I suppose that’s

Good for the Pacers who are still in sixth in the East right now as a result uh but Pacers drop a game that they could have won their defense was good enough they got good enough play from some guys they continue to look like they’re an improving team on the L

Glamorous side on the floor but they couldn’t shoot well enough and it cost them another win they’ve got to find a way to make some threes and lock up in the clutch and they’ll have a chance on their five game Road Trip coming up Pistons Wednesday to kick it off I’ll be

Up in Detroit so you’ll hear for me after that game from up there uh we’ll try to have guests for the inet shows this week so tomorrow’s show and then Thursday into Fridays uh talking all things Pacers their recent level all sorts of stuff like that the Mad Ants

Also just played their last home game so check it in on the 2A guys all sorts of stuff like that coming here on the lockdown Pacers podcast hope you guys enjoyed Today’s show if I said something dumb or you want to comment something else you can comment Down Below on

  1. I feel terrible for Hali. He is heavily scouted now. Teams are ready for playoffs, time to play physical and aggressive. Successful teams have multiple ways of winning, time to have that strategy. Pacers need to use #Pascal #Siakam playmaking with his gravity so he can create easy open shots for Hali and other team members. Trading for Pascal and limiting his skills on the team is puzzling. Also Hali need practice on how to make those passes to Siakam for easy shots, all the passes can't be on the perimeter.
Be Careful 76ers have the most cap space in tNBA that can pay both Maxey and Pascal money for their chip run. Coach Nick Nurse might go for Siakam his championship player, added Lowry now a veteran championship player.
He loves Indy and the team but you can't restrict a winning type player skills that have been used at the highest level.

  2. Nah, they just need their near-future super max. guy to stop playing poorly.
Objectively, he plays on defense like a G-League contract guy.

  3. They need a new voice on the coaching staff, not saying fire Rick just a new voice some one who can inspire a team , someone who can ingrain confidence.

This team is not inspired they didn’t lose talent there still that team

Just trying to fine there own inspiration and it’s not working, that’s the coaches job but there not inspiring

  4. This team has a bad owner Bad GM Bad coach and poorly Constructed roster with a player who we gave a max deal who will never be a super star in the league .. we traded all our first round picks for a guy that’s 30 whose gonna leave us so our entire draft is ruined .. this team is gonna suck for the next 15 years and I don’t see them making the playoffs this season or many years to come .. we might as well trade haliburton for future draft picks this franchise sucks ass 😂

  5. Tony agreed no 3s. But as much as you say its lazy not to blame officials it's equally as lazy and cowardly not to call out the horrible officials. 28 to 16.

  6. Not getting out in transition at all anymore. Shuts down any ball movement, or open 3pt shots. Obviously without Heild and Mathurin now. Obi not being in the starting lineup is a huge blow. Pascal would have to be Elite Defensively to make up for it.. His individual play is fine, but it's not getting anyone else going. That's the problem. He's not looking to shoot 3's either. So there goes your 3pt shot at PF which Obi was drilling with a quick trigger too.. Pascal stops the ball movement and has to dribble, dribble to set up a 2pt shot. While now you're basically demanding and relying on Turner now to be an amazing 3pt shooter. Granted he's played very well in that regard some game's here of late. It's probably not sustainable. While it permanently takes him out from inside on all Offensive plays. Not that he's a good Offensive rebounder anyway.. Yet he has to make those shots. If not you're relying on Pascal to get all the misses. Which he's not a consistently good rebounder. So if Myles is missing them, or simply not taking them. We lose both ways… Obi was a guaranteed 75%, constant driving threat to the rim and a consistent 3pt shooter. You've completely lost him. We never see any of the previous play from him now. That was all game. Now you get maybe 1/3 of his energy once he comes in.. He might get you a couple plays. It's killed our vibe and team chemistry. I would have gotten a SF, not a PF. Let Obi play yo develop his game and get better Defensively. We are a young team.. Feels like we threw everything that made us great away.. Exactly what I was worried about. We drafted Jarace Walker and Idk why.. Dude could have been playing some SF for us. He was playing well there.. We needed him bad this game. He's actually a PF too.. So I don't understand why we needed to go after Pascal. He's a good individual player. I'm not saying he's not good. He's been great soke game's.. But his play isn't contributing to Wins for us.. Everyone else is playing worse. He likes to be stationary and iso a lot.. smh. Not stretch and cut nearly enough. Isn't an Elite Defender. So idk what the point of trading for him was. Here we didn't draft a Wing player at all… Or Trace Jackson Davis… Which should have been an obvious pick up. "Indiana's Mr. Basketball." We pass on him????? Idc if you drafted Walker or not. You get them both and see who you like. We wasted like 3 picks.. there was a handful of guy's I wanted to pick who have been much better and affective for other team's. Same with the FA and we picked up none of those guy's.. I swear 🤦‍♂️, I could have built this team into a legit playoff team. Now we're barely going to make it.. I'm not hating on Pascal either. He's a good player.. But we haven't balanced minutes right and put the best lineups on the floor to succeed. Lineups that get all of our player's involved and getting the best combination of spacing/drives. Losing Mathurin has hurt a lot too. He was a drive threat also and quick shooter. Becoming a better defender and passer. So now we lost both of our primary driving threats in Obi and Mathurin. While also losing Heild who was a great 3pt shooter. Who would also drive at time's and was a pretty good creative passer. Now look at what we have.. Nesmith is a really good player. But now we need him to be great on Offense and Defense. More than ever he needs to be a consistent 3pt shooting threat. We need drives to the basket.. We ask a lot from him. He and Hali had a bad game so we lost. We've become very stationary at 3pt line.. Not having those player's who can cut to scramble the Defense keeps us from getting good shots.. Neither Pascal or Myles are great 3pt shooters. We aren't seeing guy's like Smith open for 3's much now because the lack of movement. Or Nesmith for that matter and Hali.. Nembhard and McConnell aren't good 3pt shooters… It's as if they said hey. Our team has the #1 Offense. Let's see if we can destroy that… I've hated watching this team ever since these trades… They better figure this bs out.. It's depressing and the vibes/chemistry have completely gone out the window.

  7. Haliburton is looking trash, he looks weak, his crossover is so predictable can’t go left, can’t hit a 3 to save his life, everyone is making excuses for a guy getting paid 200+ million, ain’t no all star going to be on a slump this freaking long, starting to think this guy was a bad move….great players adapt. He should be averaging 25 ppg this guy with get 0 or 6. He is trash

  8. Not valuing Obi, losing Mathurin and Heild.. Lost all transition/cutting, 3pt shooting, secondary ball handlers/creators and secondary passing.. smdh… I wonder. 🙇

  9. Walker not playing at starting SF now since Mathurin is out is insane. I'd start him at SF and have Nesmith play most all mins at SG. We need him.

  10. Even from the start of this year, i havent taken the record that serious. Especially after the trade. This year is about figuring out what works and giving young guys some experience, but it also became about winning due to how fast Haliburton developed into an all-pro.
It does suck hes having a slump right now, but im not too worried.
People forget hes still only 24 or 25, and young players have these kind of slumps sometimes. He obviously loves the game and will eventually find his rhythm again. It just might have to wait until next season

  11. I think we lost this game at the foul line as much as anything. I remember seeing 6/12 in like the third quarter. Stix missed at least 2 trips 0/4, Siakam went empty on at least one trip. That’s the difference between a win and loss
