    Replacing Tobi with PG? Where do I sign?

  2. TatersTot

    Throw the max at him or Bron. We really don’t have a choice at this point. Yeah it may be Al Horford 2.0 but we have to take advantage of our cap space this summer. We’d also be able to then use our 5 FRP to fill our roster or get a 4th star

    if we max washed paul george im ending itb

  4. him being 34 going into next year gives me some pause, but he’s an absolutely perfect fit next to Embiid and Maxey and hasn’t shown any signs of dropoff yet really

    PG to me was always the one guy who would be perfect next to EMbiid that was attainable (we were obviously never getting Kawhi, Curry, and yeah Lebron wasn’t and isn’t coming here) I know he’s older but the idea of replacing Harris with PG is tantalizing. I just don’t know about 3 max players anymore. I would rather use that money on 2-4 solid contracts/role players/+ starters that aren’t necessarily all stars.

    But you’re legit on crack if you would be angry at this type of move. I remember people scoffed at the idea of signing Kawhi in 2019 for a multitude of reasons (which were valid to be fair in regards to the drama he brought and his injury concerns). But sometimes you don’t have to overthink it.

    Morey isn’t perfect but I would trust him to make the closest thing to the best decision.

  6. That’d be such a Morey move, renouncing all our depth so we can have yet another top heavy roster with James Ennis and Greg Monroe coming off the bench to blow leads in the playoffs

  7. MaxeytoEmbiid

    Big star name go brr! Well, despite how much this screws us over on the back end of the deal, Morey isn’t exactly known for being a deep rotation guy so we might as well get him.

    He’s gotta be the best free agent this off season right?

    An aging Paul George on a large contract as a 3rd option to Tyrese and Joel is about as good of a shot at a ring as we have left. Fuck it, if this is what the plan is I am on board

    PG would be an amazing signing next to Embiid. Takes the scoring pressure off of Maxey on off nights and has the size to defend the 3-5. Assuming we’d bring back Maxey/Hield and you have:

    * Maxey
    * Hield
    * George
    * PF
    * Embiid/Reed

    That seems like a good start.

    My only question is: why would PG come to us? He’s a LA guy. Unless the clippers are lowballing him and choosing Harden (lol) over him on the max. It just doesn’t make sense.

    Please god no don’t give me another injury prone old guy for a huge contract

  13. The Clippers are going to be in a tough spot. Nobody has really talked about it yet, but James Harden is quietly starting to tail off like he has the last two seasons. He starts off great, but shortly after the All Star break he just isn’t nearly as consistent. This has just started, but I don’t see it getting any better.

    He’s going to want to get paid and so are the other two. LA has some decisions to make.

    I’m much more invested in sabotaging the Mavericks so that Luka demands a trade and we keep the space for him

  15. Appropriate-Hippo758

    Am I the only one who thinks PG isn’t very good anymore.

    Whenever I watch him play sparingly he is injured or throwing up bricks.

    He used to be a good defender but I assume he is just okay on that end at this point in his career

  16. tshawytscha

    Not even going to remotely get my hopes up on this one.

  17. MatCauthonsHat

    48, 54, 31, 56 games played the previous 4 seasons. 34 years old before next season.

  18. Gonna look great playing his normal 40 games a year

    I get everyone not wanting to sign an injury prone 34 year old, but in terms of free agents – he’s probably the best who will be available, if he is available.

    Adding that kind of talent and keeping 5 picks to move for 2 solid role players/some remaining cap (think we’d probably have some left over) would be the best way to maximize talent over the next two years – gotta go all in on embiid, obviously we can’t afford to waste any shot at a healthy run if we have the shot

  20. bravof1ve

    So we are letting 34 year old Harden walk and punting a year, just to max 34 year old Paul George 1 year later?
