Sarr’s game reminds me of Ayton

7′ 1″ with a consistent middy and turnaround shot. Can also hit the 3. He gets some of the same physicality criticism as DA, but I still think we take him if we get lucky with the #1. Him playing backup would be like having DA on the floor at all times, which honestly feels like a cheat code. There’s a reason Cronin and Schmitz flew all the way to Australia to catch his last game. Kind of don’t want anyone else at this point.

I’m actually pretty against drafting Sarr, especially at 1. I think he’s a highlight reel darling.

He’s much more raw than advertised, the 3 pointer is very slow, his D is okay, but I just don’t see it translating to the league well. I’d rather go with a wing than swing on a guy like Sarr.

  2. I wouldn’t call anything about his offensive game consistent, any offensive comparisons to Ayton really scares me because Ayton is truly one of the best mid range shooters in NBA history honestly. His shot profile is very unique but it works because his touch is so damn good, and I don’t think Sarr is anywhere close to that. His jump shot is a concept right now, but I think he has a long way to go before that is a legitimate threat. I think he is closer to Evan Mobley than to Jaren Jackson and even further from being Chet levels as a shooter. Sarr lack of a jumpshot does worry me about the fit next to Ayton because of the clanky fit on offense.

However, I think you still draft him because of his potential as an agile big. I think he has shown some flashes as a passer, similar to Bam/Duren showed in College. Also, he just moves so well at his size on defense and can really run the floor. I think if you just ask Sarr to roam and track everything down on offense and let Camara/Ayton clean up boards, then you have a disgusting defense.

He’s nothing like Ayton on defense though. Stylistically he’s similar to an Evan Mobley or Jaren Jackson type roamer on defense, as opposed to Ayton who’s very much plays like a traditional center on defense.
