Malik Monk is UNDERRATED in NBA

I don’t know where the Kings would be without this guy he has saved their asses so many times this season and in overtime he did it again this guy had 28 points tonight he had 12 points in the overtime session he took over this game

And what a luxury it is when so much attention’s on Fox there’s so much attention on sabonis to have another guy that is not only capable of knocking down some shots capable of creating not scared of the moment and who’s an absolute certified dog what did you think of Malik Monk’s performance

Especially in overtime you just said it right there the fact I think sometimes we Overlook or don’t even have that perspective everyone’s always looking for the big three who are the three they want to identify something as three and usually that means three starters three superstars in this league it doesn’t

Necessarily have to be that right you look at someone like Malik Monk and what he’s capable of doing not only on this roster but in the NBA as an NBA player he is absolutely phenomenal and I think tonight what I love most was the energy that he provides not only with this joy

For the game that he carries with himself all throughout a game but also through his actions and through his play for example when he goes Baseline and dunks at home Angry passionate all the feels all the Vibes I swear it’s contagious it bleeds out to everybody

Else and I just love that he can bring that in a game like this that just felt way too close he was fantastic finished with 28 points in 39 minutes of work 10 of 19 shooting he didn’t knock down the three is one of six but he was seven of

Seven at the free throw line he had six rebounds six assists in the win and after the game we had a chance to talk to him on NBC Sports California Malik you took over in overtime what is it about these moments um I think I’ve been saying it

Before man if if you learn a game of basketball you want to be a competitor and you want to play the game at a high level um overtime fourth quarter times like this is is is where you want to step up and show you can play so um I

Love moments like this Malik I don’t know where this team would be without you this year you’ve always played with confidence have you ever played with this much confidence always man always man uh sometimes I wasn’t playing as much so you didn’t see it as much so um

I’m just thankful Mike giving me the opportunity um Monty called me here Wes called me here Vette called me here man I’m just thankful they gave me this opportunity you know Kevin herder went down early in this one you guys rallied how did you deal with some of those

Emotions um we know we don’t get no calls man so we just try to use that as motivation um and come out there and just play way harder than the teams man cuz like I said we ain’t going to get no calls um and and we’ve been knowing that

And let’s just give us a little chip on our shoulder so we just try to go out there and show them and prove him wrong I got to ask you about Keon Ellis he steps in when herder goes down you hope herder is okay obviously but you have to

Get production and Keon Ellis comes in and man is he closing games making defensive plays what has stood out to you about what he’s brought to this team um he’s just a professional Man U he he he’s been waiting his moment um got a good contract uh this year got signed to

A contract guaranteed contract man um that’s from him being a professional he just come in and be with um decision makers like you said defensive plays um and just everything man knock knock open shots down so yeah man he’s just a great Pro Malik thank you so much for joining

Us so glad you guys pulled off this win go and join with your teammates for sure thank you thank you so there is Malik monk after that King’s Victory I love him I mean I I was telling you after the game I’m like look off season’s not here

Yet I’m not stressing about at this point but he’s vital and I I think we talk about him so much as a sixth man he could start on teams though and tonight I mean he’s closing games for you tonight late in the game the ball was is

It was in his hands and if it wasn’t it’s because he was being denied he got denied late and then he makes the right play he’s been awesome Sixth Man of the Year duh no but it it’s the emotions he plays with the fire he’s gotten better in every way was how has

He gotten better in your mind he’s someone that you can depend on I mean literally you can rely on if dearon Fox is either not going to have the best game or if a team is going to figure out how to slow him down right like that’s

One of the scariest things cuz seems like at times there’s certain matchups where no one can slow down dear and fox and when there is it’s go you go okay well who else you got obviously you got sabonis who can step up and be big but

Even he can only do so much especially against some other bigs in this league but then when you have someone like Malik monk who you can hand the ball push up the floor create something not only for himself being a Score first mentality but then also being able to

Create and get the best wideopen shot for others or put someone in the Twan game like he did with sabon late L pocket pass God he loves that thing it’s just it’s it’s be it’s not only a just a fun way of watching basketball I I think

That’s what brings a lot of us to this connection with Malik monk but it’s so productive and it leads to games like this ending up in a w and I think he’s done such a better job defensively this year from contesting with verticality playing physical just so much more engaged this is a

Player that if you talk to any NBA guy over the years people who have known him for years I was actually talking to Harry Giles when he was in town before the game when uh the Lakers were in town and we were talking about Malik goes oh

He’s always been like this he was talking about being playing aaou on this like All-Star team that they were on together he’s like that this has always been him and now he’s doing it at such a high level this guy had some roadblocks along the way in Charlotte he had to go

Through go through some difficulties he got through it and here he is playing the best basketball he’s ever played he’s going to earn a big contract with it for it and I I hope it’s in Sacramento because he is that important to this team yeah I I’m totally with you

On that and I don’t even want to think about what this team could look like without him but um I I think it’s it’s just important to really like it’s you know how we try and take a step back and we go wins are really hard in the NBA

Perspective we’re going to celebrate All wins in Sacramento we’ve seen so much basketball over the years you got to make sure like you have that mindset I think with someone like Malik monk it’s take a step back and don’t appreciate when he’s gone appreciate now

Appreciate the hell out of this guy and not just because he’s fun to watch but truly his style of basketball and the way that we have seen it take a leap and develop in just this last year under Mike Brown it’s some good

Deuce and Mo talk about Malik Monk’s epic OT vs. Memphis, what he has meant to the team and their conversation they had with him after the Kingd win.
