Spoiler…doesn’t really reveal new info about the injury, timeline, diagnosis, etc.

It’s a shame some of the former Sixers didn’t really participate. But figured I’d post it anyway.

And by “what really happened” they actually mean what Fultz says happened.

Love Fultz. Sad things didn’t work out.

I was standing cheering whenever he attempted 3’s.

It was pretty obvious that his body wasn’t cooperating with him, not that he didn’t want to take them.

He tried his ass off when he was here.

The story more or less is Fultz refuting that there was a specific accident that was rumored to result in his shoulder issues before he was diagnosed with TOS.

What I still don’t understand, almost seven years later, is what happened *between Summer League and the start of the 2017-18 NBA season*?

Because I remember his shooting form in limited playing time that summer, and it wasn’t the way it looked a few months later.

Could the nerve damage have been exacerbated? I guess that’s a fair reason, but it seemed to decline so rapidly and, at the time, we were all so in the dark of what the hell happened.

Either way, the central theme of the story how he rebounded from the disappointment in his time in Philly and figured out what kind of player he can be with his limitations. Which, in the end, is good for him because so many big name prospects fail to fulfill their potential and just flop out of the league.

I usually love the long ringer articles but this says nothing. Go ahead and skip it

If it doesn’t acknowledge his BMX incident it’s not worth reading

  7. HoagieTwoFace

Meh. I learned nothing new. Even had a cameo from his mom, even though Fultz’s mom is a weirdo who put cameras in his bedroom

  8. I don’t think I have another one of these stories in me

Can you imagine if we had taken Tatum? Embiid, simmons, tatum, other shooters? That would have been an unstoppable dynasty and Ben would have never had to be THE guy and could have played to his strengths.

“attempts to reach Bryan Colangelo were unsuccessful” ya don’t say? lol

  11. SpikeEskin3

Interesting story. Unfortunately this isn’t at all what happened.

What is the point of this article? He got the yips and couldn’t shoot anymore. Stop with this TOS bullshit.

  13. lma112519

The Sixers traded for him. That was the end of his career right there.

I just remember watching a summer league game when he scored or assisted on like 15 of the last 17 points and I was over the moon

I thought he was exactly what the doctor ordered but then he started ordering doctors to confirm the mutation that was his shooting form

He’s still a decent rotation player at best, sure there’s flashes but what he was advertised coming out of Washington never came to fruition. Just another insane storyline in the process era history.

Agree this is a very long article with no new info for anyone who followed it in real time. Always nice to get another “Fultz is putting his career back together” article, though.

The injury explanation never held water. He can shoot just fine on the move, but not standing still, because of an injury? He can make a 19 footer but a 23 footer is a completely different form, because of an injury? He can hit a foul line pull up no problem, but glitches out on free throws because of an injury?

It is and was always mental. Which is fine; we should work to dismantle the social stigma that surrounds mental issues that leads to stuff like blaming phantom shoulder conditions when the problem is mental.

  18. moneyphilly215

I don’t really care because we have Maxey now, even if he could shoot a bit ( he was inefficient as fuck) , he was worse on defense than JJ Reddivk, we would’ve been looking to trade him

Help me out. Is there anything in here that wasn’t in Yerom Weitzman’s book?
