as a C’s fan, the biggest difference watching them this year has been that they feel like they’re playing together more as a TEAM. Versatility in the lineup has been huge and having almost everyone on the floor be a threat from 3 is huge as well
This team plays together like a team that I haven’t seen in an incredibly long time it’s just absolutely unbelievable. The way they all sacrifice and play make for each other and play such fluent basketball on both ends of the court it’s just amazing to watch. They are so entertaining to watch that it’s hard not to tune into every game and make time to see this. The additions of porzingis and jrue holiday took this team from maybe a grade A team to possibly the best team in the NBA because they’ve opened the door for so many playmaking opportunities. Along with allowing this team to be fluent defensively. One more thing I have to say is some of the solid bench pieces they’ve developed and added. Pritchard when you really need him to can give you a solid 12 along hauser can give you clutch threes horford still reliable as ever and Tillmans superb defense and let’s not forget the rise of Luke kornets play as of this year. There’s something special in Boston right now.
Love seeing the Celtics beating up 80% of the NBA but they gotta have a dominate win vs Milwaukee tonite and later on vs OKC. Then Ill be more confident for the playoffs.

The Celtic's have been looking so good! All the starters are stars and ball together well. The bench just beat the Pistons. Loving JB's left hand layups and primal yells. Tilman looks like Horford if Horford went to prison. Kornet's a dabbing moose extraordinaire lob maniac. Sam Howitzer with the 3's.
I think obviously its the players on the roster, this time last year we were talkin about how Marcus (Hope the best for him) was shooting sub 30% from three and what were gunna do and Rob (Also love) only rotating from picks to dunkers spots not stretching the big, too many guards who wanted to be starters but as they say this year there is only 5 spots. We are not having JT and JB drive into contested layups on bigs because rob floating in the dunker spot and only getting 7 looks a game then kicking to some unreliable shooters. This year its the polar opposite, were 5 out sometimes allowing easier lanes to drive and were kicking to all players you must cover. Defense will be the decider though cant wait for the post season and to see how they end the season with rest and all that.
To me the team is better because of the acceptance of rolls. Holiday, KP both came in knowing that on most nights they are not the 1st or 2nd option. D White also has evolved his game around the 2 stars. Tatum and Brown have, for the most part, taken less ISO BALL, and have been more team oriented. The bench has grown big time throughout the year. In the beginning of the year all you heard was the C's have the best starting 5 and one of the worst benches, you can't say that anymore. Even boss man Joe has improved and Brad has used his days a coach to see what he can make happen in the front office to improve the team. All of that has worked to create this TEAM!

This team gets so much hate cuz they are so good that everyone has to admit that they are the best team since warriors years back. These guys have all the pieces they've been needing now.I've been a fan since 84 I've seen the bad times and great. Now its their time

Less desperate Hero Ball, more Beautiful Game team play. When the C's go Next Man Up or emphasize a hot hand, it's without the frustrated intensity we saw in previous years. The C's have so much talent that there's always another option, and by now they all seem to realize that and be able to keep it in mind. I think this has especially benefitted Tatum, Brown, and Pritchard, none of whom seem to be trying to force things as often as they used to. I love Smart, but he was guilty of that bad habit, too, and Holiday is just not the type, so he and White are both steadying hands.

White also had an ankle injury but that dude is that guy he may have off scoring nights but defensively he's a terror and passes the ball he starts the movement. I do gotta say JB has them clean up his turnovers and FTs along with ignoring wide open ppl. That's a basic clean up along with they all need to box out. I get I but its still things they gotta work on we all know games can come down to FTs he needs to hit them
I think the biggest difference is in the team mindset. Jayson and Jaylen don't play like they are counting their shots anymore. Not to say they never take a heat check or sub into the game with the mindset of getting it going offensively. It's just that Those two are playing a lot less selfish. This mindset I also felt plagued Smart at times too, often he would take a good shot instead of passing off for a great shot. You mentioned replacing is PG minutes with White and Holiday settles the offense much better.
Sneakily I think a big difference not in the Celtics control, is the strength of conferences. Last year the east was way stronger and the competition was closer, same with the year prior when the Celtics made it to the finals, and it showed both times. Last year of course getting bounced by a low seed and the year prior in the finals the two 7 game battles the Celtics went through with the Bucks and the Heat showed against the warriors who played a few less games and had time to rest before the series as by the middle of the series you could see the warriors out working the Celtics. This year I expect the wolves nuggets series to go 7 games especially if Towns makes it back for the playoffs as the teams appeared close even without KAT playing. Same with the Thunder, the fact that any one of those three teams mentioned is going to have to go through the other two plus maybe the kings mavs pels and clips just to get the the finals where the celtics might be looking at their toughest series being the bucks who are even worse than last year or the knicks if they get randle back or if the heat do their voodoo for a third time is a huge difference.
They don’t crumble as much in the clutch
The biggest difference with the Celtics this year vs previous years is their mentality. They’ve been able to stay poised when other teams go on runs and been able to stick with their offensive and defensive principles. They’ve also been able to beat teams in many different ways instead of being one dimensional. Ultimately, it’s coming down to the maturation process of the Jays as they enter the primes of their careers. They’ll only continue to get better as time goes by.
as a Celtics fan this is the best we’ve looked with Tatum and brown but I have the strongest gut feeling they are gonna collapse vs the nuggets, they haven’t really played anyone who can score easily on them, except for the nuggets… that Jamal Murray jokic P&r is fucking terrifying, they literally don’t use it till the end of close games most of the time, a whole game of that is gonna be mentally draining
