San Antonio Spurs DRAFT Picks Updated | TOO MANY!?

San Antonio Spurs fans I just found a great article that gives us a good idea of all the draft Capital we have that we can use to trade for players in the future or build our team through the draft what is up San Antonio Spurs fans welcome the TSR Sports I just came

Across this article from Hoops habit from last month that was updated post the trades the trade deadline and it really gives us a clear picture of all the draft picks we have where the protection is etc etc I really wanted to go over this again with you guys cuz I

Get asked a lot what how many draft picks do we have coming up what are the lottery protections Etc so I figured let’s talk about it again today while I’m going over this drop a comment down below are you surprised that just at how many picks we have in certain years

Looking at you 2026 5 Second rounders it’s a thumbs up like to our Channel subscribe to become part of our wonderful San Antonio Spurs Community let’s get into the article from Hoops have it the most important one this upcoming draft 20124 we have our own first round pick that’ll probably be

Anywhere between 1 and 7 I think that’s the farthest we can drop we have the Hornets first round pick well the Hornets are the fourth worst team in the NBA that pick is protected 1 through 14 so it’s Lottery protected this year and next year and I agree with Hoops habit

It is unlikely to convey it’ll probably convert to two second round picks in 26 and 27 so forget that Charlotte Hornets first round pick we ain’t ever going to probably see that we do have the Raptor first round pick how that is top six protected they say like l t I’m not so

Sure about that Spurs fans the Raptors have lost seven in a row they are absolutely just depleted with injuries they’re kind of a batt between them and Memphis for that six spot of course they could always move back when the lottery gets revealed I I don’t

Think that’s going to convey I don’t we also have second round picks coming up we have the Lakers second round pick in this draft whoopy dooo as far as 2025 is concerned this is where things really start getting interest Spurs fans interesting we have our own first round

Pick then we have I forgot about this one we have the Chicago Bulls first round pick now that is protected 1 through 10 next year if it doesn’t convey so if they have like the eighth overall pick it is then going to roll over into 2026 as a top eight protected

And then if it doesn’t convey it rolls over again into 2027 you’re not tring by convey is if that pick is protected and Year we’re supposed to draft it it just goes over into the next year I don’t know what happens in 2027 do we just

Lose it doesn’t say but I forgot we had that pick and then we have the Atlanta Hawks first round pick in 2025 unpr protected that is guaranteed to convey if the Atlanta Hawks blow things up and they could obviously send Trey young our way but if they’re terrible that year no

Matter where they pick 10th third first that pick is ours Atlanta picks from the DJ Murray trade are going to have a lot of value now we have three second round picks our own the Bulls and the Pelicans 2026 we have our own first round pick

And then we have ATL’s first round pick but it’s a pick swap that means if the Spurs were to say say we’re a great team at this point we you know a contender and we draft let say we won the whole thing drafting 30th and Atlanta still

Sucks and they draft second well we can go swap swo and now we’re picking second and they’re picking 30th so that could be a very valuable pick in 2026 and I didn’t know we had all these or I forgot or as oblivious to it whatever it may be but we have a

Bajillion second round picks in 2026 that I assume we’re going to sell for cash or trade a couple do something with these we have our own we have Utah and now we have the three second round picks and we receive the worst of the three picks so what that means is if OKC

Drafts 33rd Dallas drafts 35th and Philly drafts 37th we get the 37th pick we get the worst out of those three and that happens with those next second round picks as well then in 2027 we’re probably going to stop here we have our own first round pick and again another

Possibly extremely valuable pick Atlanta’s first round pick unprotected that is of course guaranteed convey again doesn’t matter where they draft it’s ours then we have a few second round picks as well so I want to just kind of go over this real quick because it gives you kind of a good idea

Of what picks are going to likely be ours and which probably are not the Chicago Bulls are an interesting one to watch with third lottery pick right now they’re the 12th worst team in the NBA at the time of this video could they blow things up could they move on from d

Rozan I don’t know his contract situation I see a lot of talk about Zack LaVine maybe being available for trade if the blow the Bulls totally just break it all down then those top 10 top eight protected picks will probably not convey because they’re going to suck and

They’re going to get those picks themselves as far as the Spurs we have a lot of draft capital I broke it down by year 2024 we have four picks 25 we have six 26 we have seven in 27 we have four and in 28 we have five that’s way too much we’re not

Drafting six players in 2025 we sure as heck aren’t drafting seven players in 2026 so I understand why a lot of Spurs fans on one side or saying build through the draft because we have so many picks and other Spurs fans are saying we have too many picks start trading those

Players for players that can help us win now let’s not rush the rebuild we certainly don’t want to keep drafting these guys they’re going to go to the G link and maybe play one year and then n on the roster we don’t need to draft five Joe whis camps in 2026 no offense

Joe whis Camp he last him one year with the team when he was a second round pick sure those those pick the picks you take in the second round that maybe you hit a home run mon job comes to mind right immediately but more often not the

Second round picks they don’t end up making it we’ll see so hopefully that shed some light on just all the draft Capital we have which is just a ton to work with especially those unprotected picks from Atlanta so good things are coming 20125 could be a very interesting

Year for our Spurs it’ll be wheny going to year number three at Atlanta pick if they don’t you know if they blow things up and let’s say Trey Young’s not on our team which I be honest with you I think I have a feeling that could happen not

Saying I wanted to I’m on the fence on that but I think I think this p is going to make a big move this offseason and he could be the big player that’s coming to San Antonio so that’s it I’m starting to ramble that’s all I got thank you for

Watching appreciate you all thank you and as always G Spurs go

That’s a LOT of second rounders!

  1. The benefit with quantities is to select the best players possible to build with.
With more lottery picks in the future they will just replace lesser players on the roster that’s all.
I don’t think it’s the time to make a big trade like some fans are suggesting, maybe 2 seasons later but not now.

  2. 7 first round picks is literally half of a 15 man roster, and that's not even counting our second rounders. If we don't trade some of them, either they're going to go to waste or our previous picks we've already spent time developing are going to waste because we'll have to cut players.

  3. I was all for running it back plus Wemby this year to see how it goes and see how Wemby transitions into the NBA. Its clear Wemby is ready to be a superstar now. Spurs need to move some of these pick and push to be aggressive this offseason to build a contender around next year imo.

  4. I think the raptors pick will convey. Right now the raptors are the 7 worst. We need to do whatever it takes to make wemby happy, we have to get 2 all stars around him to win

  5. Bold prediction Ricky Lombardo and Ron Jambo will troll TSR’s intro in the future and say Go Giants Go because the Spurs still stink as that would be really funny

  6. At some point they're gonna package a bunch of seconds for a player on a team that needs to shed a bad contract. I'm thinking Ben Simmons.

  7. I’d keep most of them and look for another superstar unless a big name young gun is on the market that will bring instant success in SA during the build!!! If we can draft successfully then no reason to give up a lot! Explore what who will fit and help!!!GSG!!!!

  8. I might be mistaken but i read somewhere if picks dont convey we get their next year pick unprotected or a 2nd round pick

  9. You can never have too many draft picks. I believe we will keep our 2nd round pick, which is practically a first at 33rd currently. Reported as "SAS's 2024 2nd round pick to PHX protected for selections 31-49 and 55-59 or to BOS protected for selections 31-54 (SAS's obligation(s) to PHX and / or BOS will thereafter be extinguished)"

  10. I would rather they have lower draft picks because it forces them to be creative about using them, getting guys like Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. Haha

Joking aside, I think it's a good problem to have. Reminds me of the 76'ers before Embiid and Simmons, although I hope we don't end up getting unlucky and pick up an albatross like Simmons though. Even if Pop's and management end up going all in for getting a great team fast around Wemby, it's a good resource. Although even if they just slowly but surely build up their talent through it (which I think is the Spursy thing to do), I'm all for it.

    GSG!

  11. Keep our own picks and use the others for a big move. I don’t trust our front office to draft perfectly, and we could end up in the same position as now with loads of young players figuring out the NBA and suddenly we’ve wasted 4 years of Wemby trying to figure out his teammates 🤷🏻‍♂️

  12. This year, all but 3 second rounders belong to teams other than the original, 25 of them have been traded. There will be a market for second rounders.

  13. I think they do something with em. I think we will see some kind of action this summer or next. Doesn’t even have to be a blockbuster. Imagine if raptors pick conveys packaging Keldon and it to move into top 5 or something

  14. Bring DJ back instead of Trae Young , trade keldon & Zach with a couple of picks in there ,then draft a defensive foward that can guard 1-5 and put Sochan in the bench and we should be good 👍🏽

  15. If we can get trae and keep wemby, vessel and sochan or wait for 2025 with more guards to choose from in draft. Both options would work. We also need a good back up center that stays healthy.

  16. We almost go all in with are draft capital please let’s not get rid of are 2025 picks only due to the fact of Atl or the Bulls blow it up that is the year for Cooper Flagg that who I want to play SF then we trade everyone except Barlow Sochan and Vessell to come off the bench and so everyone else plus are draft picks for Giannis and Luka sounds like a pipe dream but I’ll manifest it into existence🎉

  17. It would be a disservice to the players themselves if we drafted so many. They'd likely end up in the G League and not an NBA team.

  18. ….give the hawks back there picks and we get trae young…and if we keep the raptors pick we need to get the best defensive sf…i don't want the spurs to draft topic or reed i don't think they're going to be that good…

  19. I say if we get the raptors 7th pick we make a trade package with keldon and send em to the hawks for Trae Young

  20. As a Spurs fan myself, I really hope we are able to get Toronto's first round pick this year, but the pessimist in me is telling me that we probably won't though.
