@Philadelphia 76ers

It really IS that bad.

https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/76ers-pace-with-lowry-in-the-lineup

I’m trying to isolate for when Lowry got the starting nod, because this is atrocious. I don’t even believe in ‘PACE’, but hey it exists and correlates with what I’m seeing

https://www.nba.com/stats/teams/advanced?Month=6&TeamID=1610612755

So the best I can do is isolate for the month of March. In any event, the pace has been horrifically awful. Rebounding has a good deal to do with that, but is it a coincidence that it got worst as Lowry became a starter? You be the judge, because you know my answer

Guy doesn’t even look at the rim, that can’t be our PG in 2024 and spoilers: We know by now such poor offensive players don’t fit next to Joel Embiid.

  1. He stinks but it’s even worse without Joel. At least he’ll be a quick trigger 3pt threat when jo comes back. But yeah he’s washed.

  2. PwillyAlldilly

Philly getting washed vets?!?! That can’t be true! *stares in C-Webb*

    > is it a coincidence that it got worst as Lowry became a starter?

    yeah

  4. ThereAreDozensOfUs

Pace doesn’t mean anything in the playoffs. Everything slows down

Nasty work by you to blame this team being dog shit on just Lowry (just like you blamed it all on Melton until he got injured, then Oubre until we got Lowry).

The dude obviously doesn’t have the legs to be a starter anymore, and if our team was fully healthy he’d be getting 16 minutes as a backup to Maxey and Melton, alongside Oubre on the bench.

Nurse promoted him to the starting lineup because we needed to shift Tyrese away from being on-ball all the time, which destroyed his efficiency (26 points on 50 TS%, well below league average). He’s been a lot better since this change (26 points on 56.5 TS%), and having a ball handler to have him work off-ball’s been a big reason.

You linked the nba stats page showing we’re -3.8 this month, with Lowry as a starter we’re 5-5, and in February we were **minus 9** before we got him. Giving all the credit would be moronic, but its even worse to act like the dudes killing our team

  6. He’s very slow and methodical. It’s the only way Lowry can function at this point because his wheels are gone.

  7. TornManingus

I seriously can’t believe we’re watching the same games with this Lowry hate. He’s been one of our three best players since he got here.

  8. WallOld615

We don’t have any better options atm. This team is pretty ass with Embiid out and Tobias existing. He hasn’t been terrible but he’s the best of a bunch of bad options.

  9. godofhammers3000

Breaking news: buy out guy well past his prime isn’t good !

  10. the moment you see a statmuse link you know its gonna be some bias nitpicked stat.

  11. Huh? Compare out non-Embiid data with Lowry and without him. You know, apples to apples. I’m guessing our numbers with Lowry are muuuuch better.

  12. indoninjah

Also this doesn’t even touch on transition defense which is gonna be a huge issue when Jo comes back. I love Jo but he isn’t the fastest guy, and we’ve seen historically that trotting out one or two sub-par athletes next to him is going be a disaster in transition. And you can basically pencil in at least one guy in Tobias.

A lineup like Lowry/Maxey/Tobias/Batum/Embiid would 1) get cooked 2) be entirely likely to see the floor for extended minutes

  13. Immynimmy

If the entire team was healthy our starting backcourt is probably Maxey and Melton.

  14. BlackyChan20

37 year old guy is slow? Wow what great insight. Idiot.

He’s frankly the only guy on the team playing with any grit, if that means we are slow then oh no we are slow. We’ve been slow every year with Embiid and that won’t change anytime soon.

  15. voltron00x

I’m not sure why anyone would expect the team to look any good at all as currently constructed ***without Embiid***.

Unlike past years, the roster as built for this year is basically designed to maximize everything Embiid does and to have bench depth, so with him out, by design it is going to be an impossible dumpster fire of roleplayers durdling about not accomplishing much. There’s not a lot of point watching the Sixers without even Tobias or D Melt playing (let alone without Joel) and going “oh they looked bad on the road against a desperate Suns team with Durant, Beal, and Book”. They’re missing like 60 points of offense, but it is even worse bc a lot of these guys are literally designed to play a specific role around Embiid and he’s not here.

Long way of saying that honestly how Lowry looks right now really doesn’t matter one bit. **There’s no version of the players Nurse had available that weren’t going to be hot garbage.** I don’t think Lowry’s playing that badly all things considered but it really doesn’t even matter.

I get that you’re looking for somewhere to place blame, and that Maxey is your guy… but this take is horrid.

If Maxey even has an average game last night we win. If he stepped up then we absolutely win. He was a huge negative last night and wasted what was a horrible performance from Pheonix. I love him and his play, but that’s a fact.

After watching that game you’re scraping the bottom of the barrel for stats on *pace* and attributing losses to Lowry? Come on man.

  17. AggressiveLender

He’s supposed to be an 8th man you moron. They have four starters missing the team is garbage. Not sure what point you are trying to make.

  18. iH8Celtics

I can’t stress enough how little our stats matter without embiid out there

  19. ThatBull_cj

Lowry obviously over stretched right now so it’s hard to judge his play. True for everyone really since the roles are so much bigger than they supposed to be

  20. Doobie_Howitzer

Maxey has one of his worst NBA games ever and like clockwork this dude is out here throwing the last man in our playoff rotation under the bus for… Not being good enough to offset the absence of the MVP?

With the Streisand Effect being undefeated, does anyone else suddenly feel compelled to talk about the all star who shot under 25% from the field and only scored 1 more points than Lowry on double the shot attempts?

  21. ihorsey10

Lowry has played really well imo. But I am curious with the timing of Lowry playing big minutes and Tobias falling off a cliff.

  22. The only stat that matters is winning enough to get to the playoffs. Lowry won’t be the starter, Buddy will have catch and shoot opportunities, and Maxey won’t be doubled because Embiid will be back and hopefully Melton.

  23. MrThreebound

    Are you dumb?

Lowry is not meant to be our starting PG. We are just desperate.

  24. Haveyouheardthis-

I can’t pay any attention because the only thing that matters is getting Embiid back. Once that happens we’ll see what we’ve got
