Kyrie to the Celtics: the Re-Grade 🤝
So we’re regrading the NBA’s biggest trades of all time and yeah let’s talk Kyrie to the Celtics so as a reminder here are the full trade details of a trade that went down just a year after Kyrie hit that gamewinner in the finals and the whole Crux of this trade was
Very simple kyy wanted his own team the shocking part of this trade was the Celtics trading away Isaiah Thomas who had become like a CT hero in Boston and yeah Kyrie was a good Celtic when he was on the court making an all NBA second team in 2019 both him and Gordon Hayward
Struggled with injuries in Boston and then he left after just two years meanwhile for the Cavs Isaiah Thomas just had a brutal hip injury which ruined his entire career what’s so strange is the Cavs knew about it and they did the trade anyway and reportedly they could have had Paul George instead
Well final grades this is a weird one man at the time it seemed like a win-win but in hindsight neither team really worked out so I guess it’s a lose lose

Can you do Dennis Rodman to the Bulls if you haven’t already?
Here’s the cool thing about this trade.
In 2018: – Traded IT to the Lakers for Clarkson and Larry Nance
– used the 1st rounder Boston gave us to draft Sexton
In 2019: traded Clarkson for Dante Exum
In 2020: traded Exum for Jarrett Allen and Taurean Prince (Harden 4 team deal)
2021: – traded Larry Nance for Lauri Marrkanen
– traded Taurean Prince for Ricky Rubio
Then we flipped Rubio and a 1st for Caris Levert
2022 offseason: we kept our 1st rounder because we missed the playoffs and drafted Ochai Agbaji
– resigned Ricky Rubio
– traded Ochai, Lauri, Sexton…for Spida Mitchell
So we traded away IT for Jarrett Allen, Caris Levert and Donovan Mitchell
You can’t really factor in the planned Paul George trade into your analysis because it happened before Kyrie requested a trade. The plan was to send Kyrie and Channing Frye to the Suns with the Cavs getting PG and Eric Bledsoe. It only fell apart cause Phoenix refused to trade the fourth overall pick as part of the deal (they later used it on Josh Jackson). Kyrie believed LeBron was behind the planned deal, which caused him to lose his trust in the organization, that combined with his desire to be a no. 1 to lead to him requesting a trade.
What’s ur take on fields getting traded?
That trad led to the Sexton pic which led to the Donvan Mitchell trade so I think it wasn’t as bad in the long run
Well that trade eventually did lead to Donovan Mitchell to the cavs so I would even say a lost for the cavs
PG and Lebron would be a great duo. Basically kawhi and PG 2.0 but no one is hurt
Well this trade ended up technically getting the Cavs Donavon Mitchell because they got Collin sexton
They did get the Nets 1st rounder which became Sexton, which then turned into Donovan Mitchell.
So basically, Cavs won the trade. Celtics still do have more success though. 🙁
Have you done the Anthony Davis to the lakers or the boogie cousins to the pelicans
For Kyrie's last shot as a Cavalier to be a game winner in the finals, legendary.
Gordan Hayward on the Celtics is such a big what if, say he never suffers that injury in game one does Boston win it all one of those years?
nah i think the cavs deserve a higher grade bc this started a domino affect for donovan mitchell
This might be the first superstar trade that went from a win-win to lose-lose
he should’ve stayed with lebron and become one of the best duos of all time
That trade got us Collin sexton which got us Donovan Mitchell?
Damn, forgot pg was almost a cav, and that was brons second to last year in Cleveland I think they may have won it all that season
Sexton was traded for Mitchell tho
Both teams lost this trade lol
FUCK could you imagine if we had Paul George with bron 🥲
Sexton helped the Cavs get Mitchell though
If Kyrie would’ve stayed 1 more year in Cleveland, I could’ve seriously seen them winning again
But at the same time this trade actually led to the Cavs getting Jarrett Allen and Spida so it’s kind of a win for the Cavs and a lose for the Celtics, cuz Kyrie didn’t do much in Boston
