Context: Wizards owner Ted Leonsis was trying to move the Wizards to Virginia unless he got $600 million in public funding from Washington D.C in order to upgrade Capital One arena, which Washington has held firm in standing their ground.

uncommon bureaucracy W, I’ll take it
He finished the press conference off with Tatums kiss of death
I pray for the day the government uses Eminent Domain for good and doesn’t let these teams hold cities and states hostage.
>[DC News Now] BREAKING: DC’s attorney general told Monumental Sports on Monday
I saw this and thought there was a betting scandal
That’s hilariously tragic
Just in time for Jordan Poole’s signature 2048 season
Lawyered.
Nice to see the pan-NBA support here! Get fucked Ted!
I saw the Wizards/Kings game last night only had like 14K people at it which is crazy low for an NBA game in a populated city. Ted crying himself to sleep with the wads of $100 bills he uses as pillows tonight.
Grateful that the District negotiated sensibly back in 2007 to get a fair commitment in return for the large sum raised through the bonds.
I regularly get calls from their sales team but the location in Chinatown and the visiting team are the two best reasons to see a Wizards game.
Good for DC. Leonsis’s plan was stupid enough on its own, but to spend so much on planning the move before making sure that the move is even legally possible in the first place is so brain-dead that I wonder how he’s able to remember to breathe.
I still doubt he’s stupid enough to go to court over this though. Sports team owners REALLY don’t like pushing their luck in federal court because if you get an unfavorable ruling, you’ve just set precedent and eliminated a lot of grey area to maneuver in.
is the current owner the same one who signed the lease all those years ago? NVM He wasn’t but he was a minorty one so he should have known about this.
i almost loled in a library
They are going to tank to be 0-82 and pull an Oakland A’s in protest of the lease
Nice to see it in a downtown area

Hahaha fuck you Ted! You thought you were gonna hold the city ransom or you were gonna move your garbage team? lmao. Get fucked you greedy piece of shit.
Get fucked Ted u suck ass
Ownership seems to forget DC is technically a big market they just don’t do anything to make the team/franchise better
2047?!??!?!?!?
Fuck Ted
I’m very staunchly pro-city and the citizens so I love this. But how stupid is Ted Leonsis? Of all the cities to try to play bully ball with, you pick DC? The center of all our power brokers in this nation? You really thought you’d out piss the heart and soul of the most massive bureaucracy the world has ever seen?
Good, keep it in DC
I thought the DC arena was pretty new and nice. Ridiculous to try to move the team.
Wizards to Virginia? Not over DC’s dead budget!
