J.B. Bickerstaff | Cavs at Wolves Post Game | 3.22.2024

Uh I mean we just struggled in that third quarter to score um struggled to create enough field goal attempts we only took 16 shots in the third quarter um you know we turned it over quite a few times in that quarter as well um you know just didn’t give oursel a chance

Offensively um you know to get on the board you mention 16 shots in the 30s what did you see as to why it was so difficult to I mean they’re good defensive team so give them credit uh but you know again I thought we just got stagnant um there wasn’t a lot of

Movement um you know we didn’t have enough attack get to the paint create something else for somebody um you know and again give them credit for being good defensively but you know I just thought we weren’t as attack-minded to get to the paint to create some sort of

Chaos uh so we could create looks for one another defensively tonight what did you see I I thought we did good for the most part I mean hold him to 101 or 104 excuse me um but they hit timely threes and I think that kind of bit Us in the

Butt a little bit um Nas Reed in particular had a few um you know just big ones Mike connley obviously had you know some big ones um but I thought defensively you know we were good in spurts uh just didn’t sustain it enough what did you think of dares tonight I

Thought he was good I mean you know he was aggressive he’s trying to find his shots obviously you know a few of them that he’s used to make and didn’t go down for him tonight but uh he was aggressive um you know he read the game

Properly um and tried to make the right plays Jared Allen with this he obviously came back of hand but yeah I mean we’ll take a look at it you know I think he competed his tail off obviously you know with his right hand um you know he was

Just limited with some of the things that he could do J what can you do to consistently generate more offense given the state that you guys are in right now uh I mean it starts we got to attack the pain um you know we have to create some sort of a

Rotation um you know we can’t allow and again give them credit but what they do is they allow you know Rudy to just stand in the paint and they stay home so there’s not a lot of close outs but we got to try to beat our man get to the

Paint um for some help and then move it rotate and then get the looks that we’re trying to create Darius his efficiency has been down over the last week week and a half or so what’s the message to him going through what he’s going through right now uh just keep going uh

He’s got to be aggressive um you know we need him to be a tech-minded uh we need him to take shots create shots for everybody else uh that’s a heavy burden on his shoulders right now uh because we’re asking him to carry a huge load

For us but we just need him to be aggressive um be himself can you do anything to take some of that burden off of him at this point uh I mean you know I think it’s on everybody at this point right um everybody just has to step up

And do a little bit more um you know set harder screens for them but again we can’t ask one person you know to fill the void of all the guys that we’re missing so it’s everybody you know just has to tick up a little bit more

Cleveland Cavaliers Head Coach J.B. Bickerstaff spoke with the media following a 104-91 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on March 22, 2024 at Target Center.

  1. Garland has 0 burst, couldn't get passed Rudy Gobert in isolation. When Mitchell gets back to 100%, for the team to have any chance of success, DG MUST go to the bench. Right now, he is not a starting caliber pg… Liability on both sides of the court…

  2. It's been t old for the past 3 years with or without mitchell. After all star break cavs always on a free fall that's been consistent eversince jb took over. They will say its because of the injuries the heck all teams at this point are banged up. Don't be surprise if another early playoff exit happens. Cavs, this off-season must fire jb, and either you trade garland or play him off the bench.

  3. Cavs must have a new coaching staff to take the next steps. Thinking Garland is going to make it happen is foolish and grounds for dismissal.

  4. Its becoming more and more evident that DG is just an above average player nothing more nothing less. Cavs shouldn't have given him a max contract. Big mistake, they pull the trigger too early.

  5. Garland hasn't been the same since the jaw injury might be a mental thing team needs to get healthy quick

  6. Cavs are becoming more of a lazy team with no passion to play at a high level and to win…I predict they will not advance out of the 1st round of the playoffs again this season SMH
