lol the fact that this guy makes those sarcastic faces when other people flop

  2. megaman47

it was a foul, maybe he shouldnt have called it so late but regardless its a foul

  3. YouTellMeBeavis

What I don’t understand is the broadcast announcers are from the Magic but on the top right corner, it says nbc sports California which is the Kings’ channel.

  4. It’s more than 20s left. Not really a winning FT and that can be no call.

  5. noochies99

That’s a foul, but if he doesn’t fall off balance and into the back court, ref doesn’t call it, because otherwise if it ain’t a foul it’s a back court violation?

Same thing as when they wait to see if the shot is missed before the whistle is blown for the foul which is also major bullshit

  6. LoWE11053211

a slight push… very late call, feels like 60% of the time they dont call it.

but I really dont know what is a foul what is a fixing/rigging anymore.

  7. Casperthecattt

It very clearly was a foul. A late whistle, sure, but clearly was a foul.

  8. DivideOverall7174

Hate/downvote me for saying it but I don’t think it was a worthy foul.. Suggs barely pushed him, Fox planted his pivot foot and then realized he had no where to go/pivot and was fucked so played off the push like it was worse than it was.. and I’m saying this as a fan of Fox.

  9. Awanderingleaf

That…is not how foul calling works, is it? Are they supposed to wait and see what the outcome of the foul is or are they supposed to call it regardless of the outcome of the contact?

He didn’t even clap at the refs for that call. Interesting.

  10. livefreeordont

That level of contact could be called a foul possibly 200 times a game

  11. pondponderpondest

watching this i kind of figured that it was specifically a foul because fox ended up in the backcourt like how pushing someone out of bounds is an automatic foul i even if the contact is incidental enough to not be called otherwise.

  12. Honestly, I can live with the call (eventhough as a Mavs Fan I wanted Orlando to win). The ref didn’t want to blow the whistle for some minor contact but the backcourt violation kind of forced him to. Either way both sides would have complained in the end

  13. ChannelNeo

Suggs makes contact with Fox. If he doesn’t then Fox doesn’t tiptoe the halfcourt line. It was late, but the right call. The Kings did their best to give us chances to win or tie tonight, so no complaints here. Tough loss, but thems the breaks

  14. LukaDoncicfuturegoat

I can understand why Magic fans were pissed

  15. Yeah, but orlando also whiffed like 3 shot attempts off 2 offensive boards after this to lose the game

And got away with a flagrant on ellis that definitely wouldve ended the game

  16. cough_landing_on_you

Magic didn’t challenge btw, despite having two timeouts. This was a veteran move.

  17. vladimir_pimpin

Ya know, maybe it’s ok that a ref didn’t wanna give a guy free throws for a ticky tack foul in a game winning situation but wasn’t gonna allow the magic to win on a back court violation caused by a by the book foul. Idk this isn’t egregious to me

  18. IndignantHoot

    That wasn’t a late whistle.

You can’t push a player into the back court, and the ref blew the whistle the moment Fox stepped into the back court after being pushed.

It was a soft enough push to warrant play to continue almost anywhere else on the court, especially in a late game situation, but a push into the back court is a cut-and-dry call, and it’s one that can’t be called until it, you know, happens.

  19. Everything is rigged, right guys? Idk why it’s so hard to understand. That amount of contact, we could all agree, shouldn’t be a foul. HOWEVER, if that contact caused a backcourt violation, thus a turnover, that’s now affecting the game and thus it needs to be called. Are you all either 12 or 80?

  20. pizzapizzamesohungry

Ok, so like yeah it’s late, but it’s CORRECT! We really in here complaining when the refs get the call right?

  21. itsnotreallyme0

Literally the definition of marginal contact. Wasn’t even a small push. That was a tiny nudge. King fans will disagree though for reasons.

  22. orlandomade

He barely nudged him. Fox flops and sells contact. That’s almost never called in the league. Just like moving screens are barely ever called because Sabonis went to the Draymond Green school for setting screens. These refs are just bad.

  23. Initial-Stick-561

What? Lately the refs have stopped whistling hand on hip during drives altogether which led to the scoring drought we’re in and then this shit gets called??? Just make it a back court violation and get it over with.

  24. Traveler_Constant

    I don’t know, I like it.

The ref was planning to swallow his whistle and let the guys play, but when the foul changed the game, he made sure the consequences fell on the side of the team that committed the foul.

I like the intent. Just because he didn’t call it right away does not mean the foul no longer happened.

  25. pumpnasty2

If the Kings and Magic played more than twice a year I would have to really work on deep breathing. I can’t handle the stress of these matchups anymore

  26. look, I actually don’t think it’s unreasonable for the refs to say “well, that *is* a foul by the books, but we wouldn’t call it in this late-game situation unless we’re forced to”, as a lot of people are saying in this thread

but… like… Suggs touches Fox on the hip, and then Fox takes *two steps* backwards while flailing with the ball in his hands. He’s flopping, right? At that point you’re basically rewarding him for forcing the issue by stepping into the backcourt on purpose. I just don’t get that

  27. Cantguard-mike

Tbh it makes it seem like the ref wasn’t gonna call it but because it would have been a turnover he decided to call it

  28. Remote_Horror_Novel

My favorite part of this clip is the online sportsbook advertisement Reddit is running under it lol.

I’m sure gambling never affects games or would influence a call like this one though! The other funny part is this call definitely pissed off some degenerate gamblers, so if you can’t afford to rig a game you probably can’t win regularly lol. Imagine losing like 10 million because of this call lmao.

I can’t imagine betting on this game seriously with the current state of refereeing, like do they account for the different refs in the betting odds because they should! Tony Brothers vs certain players and teams is probably worth 5-7 points.

  29. 916SactownKings

It’s a foul. Bad late call. Still a foul.

  30. It was explained before that they wont call fouls specially incidental contacts if it didn’t alter shots or affect the player.

In this case the contact affected Fox that will result in a backcourt violation.

It’s a very late call but I think correct call.

  31. Brief-Objective-3360

I think thats actually good reffing. Don’t lie, you would all still be complaining if he called the foul early and be saying that it was weak, etc, but the foul clearly would have caused a back court violation if uncalled.

  32. Wehadababyitsaboiii

Magic had the challenge. They didn’t elect to use it because it was the right call.

  33. LastChemical9342

Feel like this was the equivalent of playing advantage in soccer.

  34. LewsScroose

I don’t like refs but this is call fair enough

  35. Unp0pularS0lutions

it’s just the way this foul is supposed to be called. Because he pushed him off balance causing what would’ve been a backcourt violation, the foul was called instead. It’s similar to how it would be called if a player is pushed out of bounds.

  36. itlynstalyn

This game brought you by DraftKings, bet Fox to get less than 2 FTs to win money!

  37. TheCocaLightDude

Actually not a bad call. He wanted to let the soft touch playout, I can respect it.
