The NBA Has No Answer For Nikola Jokic And The Denver Nuggets

During the 2022 to 23 postseason the Nuggets had a dominant playoff run going 16-4 on their way to their first ever championship in franchise history a season later the Nuggets haven’t missed a beat Nicola yic has continued to put up historically great numbers and is currently on his way to his third MVP

Award of his career the nuggets are one of the top teams in the Western Conference and several young players have more than offset the loss of the veterans Denver lost last off season the way things are trending the are in perfect position to repeat as Champions this video will explain what’s made

Denver such a dominant team on both ends of the floor starting off on the offensive end when talking about Denver’s incredible offense we got to start off with jic since the offense runs through him yic gets the most post-up attempts in the league his combination of size strength post moves

And footwork make him an Unstoppable Force down low he’s got a great touch so once he gets within 5 ft of the basket there’s little Defenders can do defending jic is completely overwhelming and what makes him even harder to guard is that you can’t cheat off his teammates Jamal Murray kcp and Michael

Porter Jr are all great outside Shooters so double teams and help defense on Nicola yic are quickly punished with kickout passes to high percentage Shooters Aaron Gordon doesn’t space the floor with his shooting but he spaces the floor with his cutting when his man comes over to help out out on the Nicola

Yish post-ups yish feeds him with lobs and dump off passes which are automatic points and yish has some of the best passing skills ever able to make difficult passes in tight spaces yic also generates a ton of offense for the nuggets with the Twan game he’s one of the best pick and roll

Scorers in basketball he’s not a lob Target but his floaters in the paint are practically open layups he’s also a deadly pick and pop threat where his jump shot is lethal because jic draws so much defensive attention this opens up scoring opportunities for the pick and roll ball handler notice how on this

Pick and roll KP doesn’t want to help out on the Reggie Jackson drive because he doesn’t want yic getting the ball and this allows Reggie to score on this drive yic just going to screen for Reggie Jackson again and roll to the basket B out of Bio doesn’t want to step

Up too high because otherwise it’s an easy bounce pass to joic and this allows regie to drain the pullup jump y yic also creates easy shots for his teammates with handoff plays here yic hands it off to Michael Porter Jr who drains the open three

Ball this time yic hands it off to kcp who dribbles into the mid-range pullup jic catches it at the top of the key he hands it off to Jamal Murray who drives and finishes with the floater over Jason Tatum that Twan game tends to collapse defenses which creates open shots yic is

Going to hand it off to jamor Murray again he drives to the basket which sends everyone on Golden State to the paint he kicks it out to the corner Zeke Naji kicks it out to Christian Brown and he drains the open three this time yic screens for Jamal

Murray the Warriors defend this by immediately double teaming Murr he makes the bounce pass to jic kaminga has to step this up allowing yic to set up Aaron Gordon with the alleyoop ultimately it’s the Joker’s absolute dominance combined with the excellent shooting and off Ball scoring around him that makes the Nuggets offense

Impossible to contain guard yic in single coverage and he could easily drop 50 it doesn’t matter who’s guarding him Whoever has to defend jic 101 is completely helpless he’s just that good and there’s nobody around yic you can get away with sagging off of so send help defense and either a good shooter

Gets a open shot or Aaron Gordon gets a lob no matter how you choose to defend them the Nuggets will always generate a high percentage shot teams can only really pick their poison not only does Denver have an amazing superstar in jic but also a great co-star in Jamal Murray

He’s never made an All-Star team but Jamal Murray is very much an All-Star caliber player he’s an elite scorer that could be the best player on the floor for Denver on any given night Murray’s Speed and handle helped him get to the rim at will where he’s a terrific

Finisher he’s also a mid-range assassin Murray is a master at finding his spots on the floor and draining fadeaways and pull-ups like other great scorers Murray is a tough shot maker with many of his makes being well defended jamor Murray takes scoring pressure off of Nicola yic

Since he’s another player that can carry the offense and he helps Denver to survive the nonic minutes since they like to let Jamal Murray lead the second unit Denver is also the best team in the league at finishing games they rank first in the NBA in net rating in the

Clutch and that’s largely because their dynamic duo of Jamal Murray and are two of the best closers in basketball they’ve both hit several game winners throughout their careers so if either has The Rock on the final possession of the game there’s a good chance Denver goes home with the win yic

Has it clock tick to put one up yic for the win it’s yic got it off in time not only is their offense incredible but they’re also thriving on a defensive end ranking 10th in the NBA and defensive rating a big part of that is having two Elite perimeter defenders in their starting

Unit in kcp and Aaron Gordon kcp usually guards the other team’s top scorer if they’re a small quick guard and Aaron Gordon gets the job if they’re a big win they also have good perimeter Defenders off their bench and guys like Justin holiday Christian Brown and especially

Pton Watson in just his second year Watson has become one of the better defensive Wings in the league often times he’s trusted to guard the the other team’s best player he ranks as one of the Top Shot blocking Wings in the league averaging a block in just under

20 minutes a game his prowess on the defensive end often has Mike Malone putting him in closing lineups let’s also talk about the Joker’s defense he may not be a shot blocker but he’s got quick hands if you expose the ball jic will pick your pockets he’s also Super Active in the

Passing Lanes so he generates tons of steals it turns them into fast break dunks on the other end he also helps Denver secure stops with his work on the glass where he’s among the NBA’s best rebounders he won’t be competing for Defensive Player of the Year anytime soon but yish provides Denver good

Defensive value the nuggets have great defensive Personnel but equally as important is their teamwork the Nuggets rotate really well on defense so when a player is beaten on the perimeter help defense always arrives so shots near the rim are heavily contested they also defend the outside shot really well

Thanks to the high effort they give when closing out Mike Malone has done a great job at getting Collective buyin from this team defensively they hustle play hard and communicate really well on defense in order to win a championship you have to be great on both ends of the

Court the fact that Denver has a top 10 defense while also continuing to dominate offensively gives them a great chance at repeating with that said that’s going to be the end of this breakdown but now I want to hear from you guys what do you think of how the dev nuggets have been

  1. He's the best player in the league and has been for a good while now. Watching him effortlessly punish my Knicks yesterday was as predictable as the sun coming up, and we've been playing elite defence all year. He did it flawlessly.

Will theNuggets win the championship, though? Likely. If you were to go through a list of 10 reasons why they're a main favourite, the first 8 would start with 'J' and end with 'oker'. The dude's basketball's nearest thing to Einstein.

  2. 1:15 I don't understand how he knows that Brown trying to take a steal. Great timing. Crazy.
This is not exception. A saw this many times.

  3. Would be fun to Wolves and Nuggets go against each other at full strength. They might be the best matchup to knock Denver out of the West.

  4. I think what makes Jokic special is his ability to read defenses and to anticipate how the defense will react to a certain move. If you think about it, these guys are professional basketball players who play 80-100 games a year. They know when to double team and how to apply pressure on the ball handler. To do this, they of course take some risks by leaving someone alone but they also make sure that the pass angle to the open guy is so tiny. So almost nobody attempts it and it's safe to double team. Jokic on the other hand reads this and makes that tough angle look so easy. If you really observe the defense's reaction, they look so surprised because by experience, they know that Jokic's pass shouldn't be possible. So, your defensive intuition becomes your number one enemy when you play against Jokic. He is that good.

  5. Loved player by player/subject by subject analyzing.
Insightful compared to other content providers trying to talk about the Denver Nuggets.

  6. After watching every Denver game for years, here is my recipe to have a chance against Denver:
    1. In the defense, mix it up as much as possible. One thing certain about Jokic is that the same defensive scheme won't work twice in a row. You need to try different things at different stages.
    2. Wear him down in the defense. If you have personnel to attack Jokic's defense and put him in foul trouble, use it. This is the most effective way for sure.
    3. Disrupting MPJ and Murray's rhythm is usually more effective than trying to slow down Jokic. In other words, if MPJ is shooting the ball, your chances are near zero.
    4. Leaving AG for open dunks is a guaranteed loss for you. If you double team Jokic, it shouldn't be with AG's defender. Jokic will see the pass angle almost always.
    5. Don't sleep on defense. Giving away free dunks with full court passes is so stupid and demoralizing.

While you do this, Jokic will of course counter your counters, and you can lose anyway. But from my experience, this is what teams did to beat Denver in important games.

  7. The only way to beat Denver is to consistently attack Jokic, get him in foul trouble and make Den sit him! If you can’t force Jokic to defend, whether it be pick n roll or ISO, u don’t have a shot!

  8. On Joker's defense. Something not mentioned: he doesn't foul out. That means he gets max minutes every game. Too bad for the other team. Which poison would you take: a fantastic Joker defense that may foul or a Joker that plays 30 minutes of offense? I've noticed he's smart and lets buckets happen if the risk is higher for a foul call.

  9. they barely beat the T-wolves who were without KAT, Rudy Gobert, and Naz Reid and were playing the 2nd of a back to back…..(no rest day)

the Wolves play them twice before season's end. be careful.

  10. One chance and one chance only……..
Get the big guy in foul trouble and hope Murray's not hot. Usually the Joker's too smart for that. 😩 This from a 63 year diehard Laker fan.😑
