NBACHEV REACTS TO RAPTORS LOSING A CLOSE GAME TO WIZARDS | RAPTORS VS WIZARDS RECAP
Happy Sunday everybody 10 in a row who would have thought it I’m gonna be honest with you I thought we would get at least one at by this point I thought the Wizards were one we just I just want one I just wanted one give me one cuz I know
Everybody needs these games especially the ones that are in the playoff hunt one through eight nine 10ish I was like ah we just need one but we ain’t get one yet you know what I mean I thought this was going to be the one watching this
Game I felt like we had enough to to to win this game we just didn’t have enough knowledge to close it out we going to have this we going to have this discussion hit that like button subscribe if you’re new we going to talk about last night we G to talk about
I’mma bring different perspectives to these conversations some [ __ ] you ain’t gonna get nowhere else as usual but I want y’all to walk with me for a second watching watching our games right and watching games in general like the situation that we’re in and enable me to
Take a step back and really look at everything right from college up until like the last few weeks for me I’ve been watching college I’ve been watching the NBA I’ve been watching different teams I’ve been getting in playoff mode and in March Madness mode and I’m realizing we’re all going to realize it
But I realized it sooner I just couldn’t put it in proper context until last night watching all these different games and watching battles and watching all this part of the problem is we as fans right and it’s not really a problem I think we’ve as fans of something we have
So much information we’ve elevated to a sophisticated perspective there’s not a lot that we don’t understand and a lot of and not a lot of research we can’t do to get the information and understanding of a thing that we’re interested in right but then it kind of messes up because it’s it’s
All reality now it’s not the fantasy that you have a as a child cuz that’s what made the sport fun that that little bit of imagination that you could throw into it and and the and what you don’t know we get to see too much we get
Experience too much we get to watch too much we get to hear Too Much which which makes for a more sophisticated judgment but we always forget this one point that messes up the whole thing we’re watching games right whether it be College even high school and you
Know what I mean the NBA we’re watching games and we’re judging the exceptions to the rule to the exceptional exceptions to the rule I’m going to let that sit with y’all for a second and what I mean by we’re judging the exceptions to the rule to the exceptional exceptions to the rule
Is everybody’s not on the team whatever whatever level there are people who did not make it for whatever reason some people got the tryouts and didn’t make it some people got to college and didn’t make it some people got to high school didn’t make it some
People got to the pros and didn’t make it but there are so many more people people that did not make it and we’re looking at the exceptions there’s only 5,000 basketball players that’s ever played in the NBA in the last 75 years right and we’re like I I had to think
About how I see it and how tough I am on players at times and I’m Jud like I’m comparing [ __ ] to Magic which is he’s the exceptional exception to the rule which is crazy cuz it’s like you won the lottery but you’re comparing the Lottery that they won to the billion
Dollars that somebody else won which is damn near once in a lifetime you know what I mean so we’re judging $50 million lottery $30 million lottery to $200 million lottery winners you see how crazy that sounds first of all to win a lottery is exceptional within itself cuz Millions
Upon millions of people fail all week every day every month every year and when people win they kind of make it relatable to the point where you think that’s normal and that that’s no longer an exception to the rule but a part of the rule itself and it isn’t one in a
Billion is one in a billion for a reason one in a million is one in a million for a reason they give us those stats going from high school and how many make it to college and how many make it from college to the pros and have a successful pro career those are
Levels and then let alone having a productive pro career and then having a having tenure which is 10 years in your career and then having certain achievements like the it’s rare Air at every level and they’re all exceptional everybody that gets to these different levels are the
Exception to the exceptions to the rule but we we created this normal and conversation as if they all could be grouped together and there’s no divide and there’s no layers and flavors and and levels to it and it kind of hinders the excitement and the process that we that we used to enjoy
Right teams that we watch especially our team now is so young and we’re trying to figure figure out who we’re keeping like our situation is very unique we’re on the back nine of a complete rebuild in the middle of a [ __ ] season which is crazy mistakes are mistakes are important they’re vital
At this point early failure is important heartbreak important because it builds the awareness it makes you aware of this is what it feels like if I don’t give my all and we lose this is what losing feels like it isn’t until you truly feel like you lost and that
Heartbreak that you really pursue to win cuz you never want to feel like that again and that takes time it’s different times for different guys they feel that it’s different you might not feel that way in the NBA yet because the money makes you feel good you’re making more
Money than anybody else in the world pretty much doing something you enjoy to do and you’re in that you’re in that you’re the goldfish in the in the Fishbowl that everyone comes by and look you’re Abraham for Arnold on Different Strokes everybody goes and looks at Abraham they had like seven different
Abrahams they had to cuz goldfish die rapidly often and the only way that you can build your awareness is through failure and and lessons and that’s how you build your game you build your game around that awareness last night we we saw that there was another level we learned another valuable lesson
Sometimes it’s not about you giving your all or believing that you can win cuz I believe that that we believe that we win that game we weren’t aware of the little things that will enable us to win we took our eye off of a couple of little
Things we made a few mistakes here and there that were while they were making timely baskets while they were making timely plays because they they had more experience and more awareness and they understood that they can get away with something against us that they wouldn’t be able to get away with against other
Teams there’s a reason why they’ve only won 13 games with the with the experience and bhood players that they have in all honesty the the Wizards you they thought Jordan P was going to be the man they was like he going to lead the league and score and
He’s going to be in all these dope conversations and that wasn’t it that wasn’t the reality he self-destructed in the team as a whole they never lived up to they they could at least be in the play in at the least they have enough experience but what we’re looking at is
And what we saw last night we didn’t have a great shooting night you know what I mean but you can tell there was there was a competitive fight there we believe that we can win this game and we played like it especially after the first half when they couldn’t get
Control over the game cuz that’s what that’s what teams want against us they want to gain control early and then the pressure and the weight of the moment and our inexperience will put us in a place of you know disadvantage that we can’t you know really overcome because of our lack of
Personnel even though they had a little bit more experience lot more experience a lot of them played for multiple teams different coaches been in the league you know what I mean they they all aware and understand what the situation but they could not gain control over this game we
Were not allowing it we weren’t allowing them to set a tone we weren’t allowing them to set nothing they were making just as many mistakes as we were they didn’t play mistake free basketball we had we we only had 17 points off of the what 15 points off of their 18 turnovers
That should have been an easy 25 we should have had at least a extra six seven points on 24 instead of 17 fast break points and more points in the paint because once like any team that commits 18 turnovers y we’re to capitalize off of that but we didn’t
Have a good shoot night we shot 24% from three we shot 42% from the field for whatever reason you know what I’m saying like we didn’t get like the shots weren’t dropping and sometimes it’s like that but you have to be aware when the shots aren’t dropping to shrink your
Game use the back Ballard we did hit free throws 21 to 26 it just just awareness you know what I mean and just a just a little you know what I mean just understanding the importance of certain certain statistical categories that would have put us in a place of of
Of of finishing this game out and getting us to win rebounding stands out the most though they had 13 more rebounds than we did and even though I feel like we rebounded enough to win the game even though they did you know what I mean we didn’t utilize that because
The 18 turnovers are enough that was enough to make up for the lack of rebounding but when it’s not you start to see how important rebounding really is you got to leverage something else especially cuz they were a little more physical and and they were more deliberate they had one player what ran
Holmes had what 15 and 14 rebounds but despite all that we wanted to win that game we had enough to win that game we could have won that game we just didn’t have we you got to learn somewhere you know what I mean we we didn’t shoot well
And Ne they don’t shoot well either it’s not like they shot lights out they only made a couple more threes than we did they shot what 40 47% from the field like it wasn’t like they they cleaned up nice in the fourth quarter pretty much but I felt like we
Crashed the board enough but when when you don’t capitalize off the turnovers and you don’t then that becomes all right problematic it becomes a a glaring statistic that we didn’t leverage and make note of we we moved the ball enough we had enough ball movement with 27 assists that’s that’s good for me
Without quickly because you know Kelly oen had 18 assists one thing I didn’t like I didn’t like the fact that we had so many people bringing up the basketball like I I don’t I don’t like that pick a guy maybe one or two guys and then let that be that everybody
Can’t bring up the rock cuz regardless to how smooth it looks some guys are better off attacking at an angle as opposed to bringing the ball up the court I’m cool with um Freeman Liberty because he has to touch the basketball throughout games to get his game going
Because he’s one of those he’s more of a Hands-On guy than someone who can stand still and score off of you know moving without the ball and playing without the ball he has to touch the basketball so I understand why we put him in that position in hopes of seeing how much of
His g-league success will trickle down and transition into the league we need him off the bench we still don’t have a backup point guard and that’s that that was the thing I noticed the most you know what I mean and we didn’t put a lid
On Jordan P who who wasn’t having a good game up until the fourth quarter where he got he had 14 of his 18 points but I watched him play point guard I was impressed I think that might be the the ticket let him run point for the Wizards
And they have a better chance of you know him being successful and the team being successful but of course you know he’s a very sporadic player so you really don’t want him to be the the floor General but I I saw there’s there’s some potential there you know
What I mean that’s you can’t leverage him anywhere else so you might have to put him there as a safe place and have other people you know chime in as he floats around and shoots and scores kind of like what Steph does um we have Prime opportunities though
With those 18 turnovers that’s the thing that sticks with me you know what I mean we got 17 fat break we run enough even without the the the the the best players that we have on the court there’s still a p that we play with and
We love to get out and run is we didn’t get out and ran enough like we I wish we would able to turn those 18 turnovers into more fast break points and more points in the paint we had 60 points in the paint we were attacking in
Transition and and and in the half court set you know what I mean we treated them the way they they what the way their record indicates they are you know what I mean we were we had everything right until going into the fourth and they got it going
Enough in the fourth to pull out the victory because we we didn’t have like it just they were able to close it out we went into that thing with four-point lead which you know that’s really nothing in the NBA that’s absolutely nothing they they got enough veteran and
Awareness and IQ and abilities to overcome that lead and apply pressure and then Force us either we if we’re going to win that game we would have had to hit shots but I do understand what coach said about the rebounding like we could have we could have boxed out more
We could have fought for for position more we could have been more aware of how important rebounding would be against the Washington Wizards who these n they miss 52 shots a game they miss 23 threes a game we’re going to get a chance to grab some rebounds we have to do it you
Know what I mean they missed 52 shots on average so that’s 52 defensive rebounds on average that we can grab and attain and last night they missed what 48 shots and we gave up 16 offensive rebounds we only grabbed 29 well we grabbed 29 defensive you know rebounds
Off of those 48 you know misses left too much money on the table you know what I mean they too much money on the table you know what I mean and and and they grabb 39 of our 54 misses which is 72% of our misses anything over 70% for all you
Geeks out there anything over grabbing 70% of the the misses on defense you’re going to be successful that’s a good number when you get into the 75s and the 80s there’s no way you’re going to lose if you’re grabbing that many defensive rebounds because on average there is between 46 to 50 misses
Per per game if you can grab 70 to 80% of those man you you got a chance at transition you got a chance at you know what I mean more assists more points in the paint more scoring faster Pace you can really do a lot with that we just
Left too much money on the table you know what I mean and you there’s no substitute for hitting shots as a professional you have to figure out how to hit shots if your normal shots aren’t going you have to BR shrink your game utilize the backboard we we hit enough free
Throws utilize the back ball it didn’t have to be a shootout once we got the game under control in the fourth quarter they’re going to allow us to shoot threes there pretty much a dare nah just shrink the game and and get in the perimeter and make life difficult for
Them force them to play mistake-free basketball which they cannot do you know what I mean and you start to understand the different levels of awareness as as a basketball player and and it’s okay what are we going to do what are we going to do it builds
Character we we don’t have the top tier Personnel in the game so guys are going to have to figure out how to win on their own which is very these are very important lessons very important experiences you know what I mean that we going to see because at some point the
Responsibility is going to be on them to close out leads and close out a half and you know what I mean so the sooner they get acquainted with this reality the better but I think when when I watch out players I try not to be the guy that’s
Like forgetting that I’m comparing these exceptions to the rule who are in the Adolescent stages of their career to the exceptional exceptions to the rule you know what I mean because it’s always going to be levels of experience levels of talent level of you know genetics
It’s always going to be that thing you know what I mean and you got to learn your lessons somewhere you know what I mean and this is where they learn this is and the guys that we keep they’re going to be they have to be battle tested so I think these are valuable
Lessons I wish we would have won this game I think because they do deserve to win you know they do deserve that feeling of winning because the NBA isn’t that hard now there’s no real defense yet there is no real adversity yet other than the fact they’re in front of
Something totally new and they don’t completely understand the experience enough to get the results that they want and you know technology and information is so far ahead of their ability to work that they like no matter how hard they work on their game they have to be able to outwork the
Information that’s floating around about them in their game so you have to add on not just maintain and get better and become more efficient at being you and your signature your signature style of play but you also have to add on new things which takes a lot of time a lot
Of maturity and we’re in a microwave situation where you’re not getting the same time that a Michael Jordan a Magic Johnson ever had where you could add one more new game new thing to your game everybody’s expecting you to excel in your signature and add on two or three new things which
Is even the exceptional exceptions to the rule had enough time to grow but there was no internet for a lot of them internet was in an infancy stage so they were allowed to grow and mature before before all of the spotlight and the selling of the lifestyles as a mass you
Know productive thing but a mass production cuz now everybody’s selling lifestyle everybody selling celebrity everybody’s selling information everybody’s you know so now you’re looking at them as okay you’re selling me on what you can do on the court but I see a lot of inadequacies and people
Speak to the things that they don’t see when not understanding how it how long it takes mechanically to develop it and mentally and emotionally to De to develop a habit you know what I mean it’s not it’s not as easy as people think and it does take a little more
Time than 30 seconds to a minute you know what I mean so people don’t the devil’s in the details I think that’s the biggest thing for us we have to understand that the devil is going to be in the details for a lot of our players it’s not going to be in those
Magnificent dunks it’s not not going to be in all of the beautiful things that you do it’s going to be in the details the fundamentals because that’s where you build your game for real especially now because everyone is lacking fundamentals when guys are lacking fundamentals you go to fundamentals when
Everybody has fundamentals you start to go more into the creative because as a whole you have just as much fundamentals as everybody else because you wouldn’t be in the league because that’s part of the peer group now part of the peer group is not to have the fundamentals
You’re coming out of the NBA earlier and earlier and earlier and the weaknesses in your gameing your professionalism and how you prepare and how you get results is totally different they put you in the microwave to only put you in the oven so it’s like hurry up hurry up
Hurry up hurry up hurry up hurry up oh now wait because now he has to develop you got to develop why the money’s on the line these companies ain’t waiting these billion dollars these billionaires ain’t waiting for you to develop they giving you all right we’ll give you
About a year maybe two and that’s not a long time as a basketball player it’s not it’s not a long time you got two maybe three years if you’re not a lottery pick in that gives you maybe four years at the most and if you and and they will give
Up on you within that span like no he ain’t it so the pressure is always on and you’ve never had to deal with that and not understand what you can do to make the situation better you don’t you really don’t know what you can do because you just now you’re trying to
You don’t want to give up too much of your social life and you also don’t want to put too much into the preparation because you don’t know what’s going to work so you’re you’re trying to put enough in to stay Sharp and then kind of see what the field is
Really like to see what you can transition and leverage in the game for real because everything that you work on is not going to be transition into games so you have to figure out like you know what works in games early on like some games utilizing the backboard is very important some games
Getting to the free throw line is very important when you’re against a physical team or a good defensive team you don’t have a big window to get your shot off so a quicker release and utilizing precision one two dribble pull up one dribble pull up you know what I mean get
Out in transition cut to the basket set screens slide or Fade to the three like more technical sound game is going to be needed against a team that’s better against the worst teams you might have a little more leeway to to figure it out but and allow your subconscious
Basketball habits to to really become attached to the game and Avatar the situation rather than you consciously say I need this this and this because the pressure is on early you know what I mean you just have to it comes down to the awareness of the player because basketball doesn’t change
It’s just your confidence and your ability you question yourself and then everything crumbles everything that you believe that you were it crumbles when you get to the pros because now you you went from being the exception everywhere you’ve been or even the exceptions the exceptional exception wherever you’ve
Been because that’s how you got to the league now you have the exceptional exceptions to the rule at that level so now and then there’s even exceptional exceptions to those exceptional exceptional roles you know what I mean it’s it’s levels to it and then you decide I’ve worked hard for the last 10
Years I just want to stay in the league and and keep getting this paper and live this life I don’t want to go any higher because I’m tired I don’t have any more to give you know what I mean but you still have to maintain because everything is forever changing circumstances and
Situations and you have to elevate and grow so it’s it’s listen you don’t get to listen when you retire you ain’t taking all that money with you you’ll be lucky if you walk away with 10 15 million at the end of your career lucky it’s it’s like being in it’s like being
In the music industry they G to spend you and you going to spend your money and you gonna get caught up in the lifestyle when it’s all said and done you got to live with some regrets you know what I mean and that’s reality you know what I mean a lot of
These guys say that they broke and they’re not really broke compared to me and you they’re broke compared to the amount of money that they left on the table cuz that extra 30 million that extra 50 million that extra like if you have put a little more time in if you
Have knew then what you know now financially you cuz we’re talking about this money that you have at the end of your career is to start your new life the money you made as a child is supposed to sponsor your adulthood but you’ve already created a lifestyle based
Off your juvenile impulses and your needs and wants and media and [ __ ] like that what they say was cool and that’s why so so many people got [ __ ] button-ups from 2004 in their [ __ ] closet that nobody’s wearing D was right that button-up [ __ ] was stupid and Lon
Was the first one to do it it wasn’t it wasn’t Jay Jay wasn’t the one that made button-ups popular he got that from loon when loon was with bad boy that was Lon style never gave loon credit but loon was the first one wearing button-ups and
Fitteds and all that that was his style that was what he was doing and then you know he took another Harlem [ __ ] swag that’s all it was again but you know it is what it is but it’s rare that you have young Talent with vision and understanding of you
Know the the devil being in the details but we got potential you know I mean grd Dick had a had a solid game but it’s going to be it’s it’s going to be tougher like I said whenever he’s playing with g money because G money is so aggressive he’s
Such an aggressive shot taker you know what I mean and we GNA talk about that in another video we GNA have some I’m G lce y’all today I got some things I want to talk about on all platforms gearing up for the big the beginning of a the
The new week but um yeah I was all right the game wasn’t that you know it it was enough for them to learn from you know what I mean it’s a very valuable lesson for the guys that are staying never couch your chickens until they hatch and and it ain’t over till it’s
Over and you have to understand there are levels to it you know what I mean you really you really can’t take your eye off the situation and you have to it’s your responsibility to win if you’re in a position to win you can’t leave things to chance you
Have to be deliberate you have to

Fastest rebuild In Massai we trust. Top 6 draft pick, 17th &32 picks. My wish list is reed Sheppard or rob Dillingham, Zach Edey at the 17th pick and Ulrich chrome from Africa for our second round pick
Our bench almost beating starters next season gonna be good 💯
I think people don't remember, these teams are playing against our "Training camp". Yet we are keeping up with them for most of these games. So imagine when this team has a full summer to train and practice with everyone having their roles solidified. While learning the system. If they can acquire Edey!! Grady will flourish next season, and Abaji will be an interesting piece to watch. Patience will pay off. Trials and Tribulations, then rewards.
Game was grimey but a lot of positives to take away. Zac E would fit nicely with this team. that was our 3rd strings going toe to toe with starters.
I am okay with winning one more game . The game against wizards in Toronto. We got the building blocks. Now let's add a wing, pg and back up center.
Keep Gary cut McDaniels and em
Is it me… or does Gary seem "not quick enough" out there? Could be that missed dunk, but the rim finish…. weak? And I am not saying he is a bad player. Just not idk… not enough for me.
I commented yesterday they'll have all the pieces and be healthy and make moves in the off-season and be ready come next season.
Let Gary walk, trade jacob and bruce brown on draft day for extra pick
Kelly is a big add, he's an incredibly underrated player. He's the perfect small ball big while Jakob is a good big man center. If only Jak can shoot 3's, that's where I'm a bit shocked he hasn't developed in his career. Even Valunciunas can hit 3's now.
Hey Chev, you do realize that the raptors are using there games to learn how to be in sync. Otherwise we are giving the games away and losing by 10 or 20 points.
The NBA is being punked by the Raptors great acting..
We are gunning for the lottery so we are low-key tanking.
At least we know that the bench is capable of delivering alot of points when they play next year
Next year is going to be so much fun. These bench guys are getting valuable reps against starters. Can’t wait
This is the first 10 game losing streak under Masai as a GM. He became GM in 2013. Before that, the last time the raptors lost 10 in a row was in 2011.
#NBAChev I just prepared myself to lose all the games for the remaining season.. We are having auditions for our roster as to who might make next season…The losing record don't mean anything to me at this point… Just observing skills…
Last night's game is the exact reason why we need Zach Edey badly, the difference was the paint game against Richaun Holmes. If we had Jak or Edey, this would've been an easy win for the Raps. Wizards capitalized all night from second chance opportunities. That Wizards team is solid as far as the starting lineup goes, they better be a top 10 team in the East, or they underachieved. That boy Zach Edey is hotter than fish grease to start off this tournament, had a double-double in the 1st half and didn't play a good portion of that 2nd half because Purdue was up so much. As far as the Raptors go, usually when G-Money has more than 20-25 pts it's because he does more than just shoot from outside, as he'll actually cut. That's what I like about Gradey's game already is that he doesn't just settle for shots he'll actually cut to the basket. Gradey has been playing nicely, he probably gets close to 25 in this game if G-Money didn't play this game, so I see what Chev is saying there, he takes at least around 3-6 shots away from Gradey when he's in the game. We're right there, we're not going to win a game the rest of this season, but next season is going to be fun when we get all of our main guys back and add to this team with more talent.
