LA Clippers reveal SURPRISING new logo

Here’s Brody Brazil so what I’m going to do here is show you the very first image I woke up to this morning and also try and recreate my exact reaction Clippers new logo wait we’re in the middle of the season is that real is that instant is that for next year wait

That’s the basketball Clippers right what is this I was not expecting this anyway it is the new logo for the Los Angeles Clippers and kind of interesting timing that they’ve done this mid to late season usually this is an offseason summer Type move for a basketball team

But they’re moving into a new building they’re trying to generate excitement they’re going to keep everything current until the rest of this year and then ultimately change over but first impressions I don’t know I really don’t know it doesn’t necessarily look like the logo of a basketball team feels

Pretty corporate feels almost like a bank or a financial institution’s logo go I get it it’s got the ship I mean before we get into the meaning of all this I can see it right that’s a Clipper ship with the hull as a basketball I see the the cardinal directions of the

Compass there the sea I mean there’s a lot going on there when you soak it in but it just didn’t necessarily pop out as a sports logo to me by the way the Clippers also unveiled their brand new jerseys for next season and it keeps the tradition I do like that script across

Their chest they’ve always had something like that the Clippers or this case to Los Angeles I really like those little nautical touches down the side of the Jersey tops obviously they’re they’re Jordan brand but it’s got kind of a cool look and there’s only so much you can do

To stick with the current theme which is pretty basic and straightforward and maybe that’s the theme of the logo too they didn’t want to divert from basic and straightforward like they’ve always been so these jerseys are fine you know and look I’m not a person with a direct

Connection to Los Angeles or the Clippers but uh if you’re a fan I would imagine if you’ve always liked it well this kind of Falls right in line they also unveiled what their new courts going to look like at the in dome which I’ll also show you a picture of in just

A second construction is coming along there obviously really well in time for next season I do like that it’s got the coordinates there at Center Court on the bottom side of your screen otherwise it’s pretty simple and traditional not a crazy wood pattern and the keys are blue

With the red outlines and the the white three-point line so yeah I mean well done right you can you can easily overdo this and overthink this you know what as much as I might be I might be not the biggest fan of the Simplicity here like I think you could

Have done a little bit more the only thing worse than that would be doing too much and they definitely haven’t done that oh the in it dome is looking really cool and the Clippers have had an interesting trajectory right playing at the LA Sports Arena back in the day then

They moved in to staple center with the Lakers and with the Kings a three- team indoor venue in Downtown LA now finally they get to move out and into something that’s their own their ownership has invested a ton of money into this I’ve seen the renderings of the inside it

Looks spectacular and the other thing is so hard to compete with obviously already Staples Center crypto.com Arena that’s pretty popular with LA live downtown and then you get Sofi Stadium which is beautiful and Brilliant so how do you keep like setting the bar at least matching the bar to a new height

And I I can’t wait to see what the new home of the Clippers looks like down in Southern California so that’s coming along but going back to this logo and let’s get the Clippers explanation of what they were doing here a strong and stylized Mark they say that illustrates

Movement and precision while paying homage to the team’s nautical Heritage and a couple different things to point out here yeah the compass cardinal directions North and the N oh I see the n on Los Angeles look at that matches up to North providing Timeless Direction okay I get that the silhouette of the

Oncoming ship a nod to the team’s origins in the San Diego Harbor the custom type face you know the type of font inspired by Naval typography the hull of the ship set off uh the hull of the ship set off with the seams of a basketball okay I definitely do see that

And the new Clippers C it’s the primary icon when removed a partial logo carries alternate version serving as a single letter monogram that c is also ingrained in there but I don’t know I mean I I I instantly recognize that centerpiece of the logo as a ship but could it be

Confused as like a seashell or an acorn you know I it just it sometimes I feel like a logo has to smack you in the face a little bit and tell you exactly what it is so it makes sense but maybe this will s thinking over time and you

Know what the Clippers have always kind of had interesting simplistic less than glamorous logos I mean this is the one I grew up as a kid with and they had that one for a long time it’s literally a basketball with some lines on the back of it and a Big C

Clippers like it’s it’s traditional I get it I instantly recognize it’s a basketball team’s logo uh the one on the top left is obviously their current iteration which also carries the same alternate that’s kind of cool cuz you look at that and it’s LA and then the C but I

Mean La what I mean if you didn’t know it was a basketball team you you wouldn’t know the one on the bottom left the LA I mean that almost looks like Microsoft Paint what font is that just in my opinion that one has never really stood

Out like a high schooler could make that in minimal time time on a graphic editing program an elementary school kid could make that my son could make that he’s in kindergarten anyway but that was their logo that was their alternate logo for a long time so all being understood

The trajectory of this current logo falling in line with what you’ve seen here and they didn’t decide to change the colors I give them credit on that they’re sticking with it and they’re they’re generally sticking with the same Jersey so fans don’t have to necessarily

Go out and get the new one although I kind of do like the new one but the Simplicity reminds me a lot of when the Warriors came out with this logo in the early 2010s and I’ll never forget the first time I saw this I was

At a restaurant I got a ding from my work email new Warriors logo about to come out like well can’t wait to see this and I remember seeing this and saying that’s a rough draft right that’s not the that’s not the final version is

It and here we are what 10 11 12 years later oh no it’s still the current version um and it was their version when they went won several NBA titles so it just goes to show you sometimes when you first come across a logo or something

That’s going to be around for a while it may not immediately sink in as Timeless but over time it it can Captivate you like that so here are my takeaways of the new Clippers logo which again is going to be officially debuted next season with those new jerseys and the

New building and all of that makes sense right you’re kind of generating the hype for next year with about 20 something games in the regular season remaining this year the logo does look corporate again I I’m thinking financial institution private Equity Firm wealth Capital all that stuff it it just seems

Like a bank you know it it just does uh it could be confusing like again if you didn’t know that was for a basketball team and it’s hard to see the like the the seams of the basketball on there it’s not it’s not obvious I guess the

Warriors well no the Warriors logo is kind of obvious maybe with the bridge and the basketball by the way does every basketball team have a basketball in the logo have you ever looked this up by the way don’t go away from the video yet but

Just look at a a a screen or an image of all the logos of the NBA like more than half of them have a basketball as part of the logo so maybe that’s why I’m thinking it just doesn’t scream basketball it does fit the trajectory of

Their logo history I will give it some time I don’t hate it it just if you had all this buildup and probably a creative process and they’ve spent months on this maybe more than a year behind the scenes probably brainstorming and rough drafts and this is a big deal this is their corporate

Identity going into a new building um everybody’s got an opinion and maybe some of you will love this some of you might hate it too but I’ll give it some time I do like the Jersey details again the nautical little uh Flags whatever you want to call that

Sailor Flags down the side I think that’s pretty cool and you know what I I think moving forward anything else they should do from here on out should embrace that nautical theme there’s not a lot of teams in pro sports that have that as kind of their overall genre so

Take it make it yours run with it you are the former San Diego Clippers now you’re the Los Angeles Clippers I guess it’s growing on me a little bit I think maybe I missed the font could theyve Incorporated that the Clipper is actually this font now that I

The LA Clippers are heading to a new arena next season, and they’re bringing a new logo, court and uniforms with them.

The team showed off its new look on Monday, blending the past, present and future of the franchise ahead of its move to its own arena, Intuit Dome, later this year.

The redesign features a naval blue, ember red and Pacific blue colorway with a greater focus on the maritime roots of the Clippers name, which is derived from the ship. The primary logo features a “C” surrounded by the points of a compass and an oncoming ship with basketball seams.

“We have been on a long journey, gathering feedback and insights from across Clipper Nation,” Gillian Zucker, president of business operations for the Clippers and Intuit Dome, said in a statement.

“We listened to as many voices as we could and then engaged specialists to arrive at a timeless design that blends bedrocks of our past and our future. Our new marks are meaningful and strong, capturing our roots and our aspirations.”
