All about trying to explore his offensive game I I didn’t think it went great I thought he had some positives he did some good things I think he learned some lessons but I don’t think it was this smashing success but then he refocused in on his defense and I feel

Like the basketball Gods rewarded him for it yeah because now his defense looks great but his offense has also come around over the last week yeah and his three-point shot that’s been a storyline over the last couple weeks he’s above 37% from three right now which is a

Great mark from him and he’s even showing some of the stuff off off the dribble that he tried to show at the beginning of the Season that wasn’t all the way there so uh this was another just really encouraging performance from him and if he if he has this confidence

They get to do this because 15 and two 15 and two I I sold them a little short 15 and two since the allstar break and they get to do this just because they have such a great culture and because everybody just Falls in line right now

And you get Great Performances out of everyone including by the way Julian St gets in here and he makes a three which was great to see yeah I mean yeah that I mean that shows you the type of game that they had and I mean we’re not going

To sugarcoat it the Memphis Grizzlies are not good but to still get that type I think you sugarcoated it a little bit they are horrible there you go but to get that type of performance from your young guys you get to put in a a Julian

Stra you get to play a Jay huff and those young guys um I love how you put the the duck like following in the road because that’s them trying to learn the system trying to get into like this Denver Nugget basketball um and still being able to be themselves like this

Was a game that everybody got to be true to themselves but also got real minutes um while following niika yachu was still incredible in this game so really like this part of the season is about just making sure that you stay healthy and finishing off strong and you get to

Teach lessons along the way like that that goes a long way um for a young team or for the young guys on the team yic also is just the NBA’s best system he’s the system in himself James Harden tried to claim he was the system but it’s

Player he doesn’t eat up possessions he stays out of the way and then defensively he’s an absolute Monster uh and his he’s back to his old self so the question was is this the best he’s ever looked and really just build on that you know how you think he’s looking

Specifically that he got to play with yoke tonight well I think that him and yoke really compliment each other just because of the the pieces he’s a great slasher he also gets out in the open court and yoke loves to make that extra pass but he also provides the spacing

Because he is willing to shoot the three even though he’s not a designated three-point shooter but he also slashes and he opens up the floor which joic really loves a guy that’s going to you know slash and get to the rim I’m in fine different ways also he’s a really

Good Defender and we we know the type of Defender that he is um I think I would have to see a couple more games just to see it because it’s the consistency part but right now and he he’s in his best offensive stretch and that’s where he he

Has wanted to get better and where he has been lacking um this year is just on that offensive end and we’re starting to see him get more confident um be able to take those type of shots find different ways to score um and get points on the

Board so if you couple that with the defense he’s in a really really good stretch so I just I want to see it continue to play out so if he continues down this final stretch I mean Malone already said that he’s in the rotation he’s already a lock he is in for the

Lock but now he gets to like continue with that Stellar play so I I think he’s well on his way to his best stretch just consistency part yeah I think these last two games have probably been the best back-to-back offensive games of his nuggets career I think defensively he

Can still go up a level I think he had such a good defensive St who was it on a good player too who was it was it Bane I think Bane and ISO he guarded him then blocked his shot I mean short arms that happens to you sometimes well they’re

Both short arms though that was a short on short arm match up right there that is T-Rex battle two two T-Rexes going at it but um and Heen had some good plays again in Portland game but I went back and watched that Trail Blazer game I

Thought he could have been better in a lot of aspects defensively so on that end of the floor I still think he can go up a level you know to get back close to the level he was at last year but offensively these last two games have been the best he’s looked in

Back-to-back outings and it’s the comfortability I feel like in the offense right now for him yeah how he’s timing his Cuts where he’s moving off the ball the Rhythm he’s in if he’s getting a dho or if he’s you know coming off a ball screen from joic or DeAndre

Jordan uh he’s got his head up he’s confident he’s aggressive he’s looking to go to the rim um so he just looks at ease right now in the Nuggets offense and you know going back to the beginning of the Season he looks so indecisive at

Times you know he’d get the ball and a lot of times Christian brownen didn’t know what he wanted to do he didn’t know what he wanted to do did he want to you know take man off the dribble uh what move did he want to pull now it looks

Like he’s just being so much more decisive and because of that uh the rest of his offensive game has really filled out it feels like confidence is hilarious man confidence in the NBA I think it’s the most underrated component to player success yeah how much confidence do you have and by the way

I’ve talked to Calvin boo about this I’ve talked to Tim Conley about this prior to that selecting for conf idence and unbreakable confidence not Cockiness not irrational confidence but how does this guy feel about himself when the cards are down is this a guy that loses

It easily is this a guy we worry might struggle if things get hard play teams spend a lot of energy trying to find that out when we talk about doing workouts so people always ask you know you have a whole college career to watch and you have all this stuff and you go

To the combine and this or that and then they bring guys in for workouts and you’ve always heard some teams over overv value workout some teams whatever those workouts are often hey we’re going to put a defender on you that is too big too strong and we’re going to let him

Foul the hell out of you yeah because we want to see if that bothers you we want to see like how do you handle it when the refs and then we’re going to call fouls on you so you’re going to go up against the other guy we’re keep F

Calling fouls just because and they’re testing you they’re doing all this psychological testing and a lot of that is just how does this guy maintain confidence but confidence is huge and I feel with Christian Brown right now his confidence is is up it’s really up and I think Michael Malone throwing his

Weight behind him and calling him a playoff lock not and then starting him tonight and then starting him tonight not that he I mean look I think he knew he was a playoff lock he was a lock last year in the rotation so I think he knew

That but kind of throwing his weight behind him it’s something and I think he’s playing like that I think Colin gesp is another guy that feels the Michael Malone’s weight behind him and he plays with a certain level of confidence but with CB I do think this

Is the best he’s looked last year he had more narrow role um and even though he did this in the playoffs let’s put the playoffs aside I don’t want to compare regular season and playoffs but as far as regular season goes I think this is the best he’s looked and more

Importantly I think it’s the most confident he’s looked I love that you talk about that uh being tested portion of this all because that’s when like the humility um comes into it all these guys have always been the best players you know in the world or the best players on

Their team or just everybody um catering to their needs on the basketball court because everything has went their way um and that’s where the humility comes in where you have to get tested where things aren’t going your way how do you how do you go after it after you’ve been

Tested or how when when things have been shaken if there’s a team in the NBA because we follow it that you really have to go through being tested and um going through like not like having your confidence taken and still being able to come through it it’s the nuggets and

Especially the way that Malone handles himself with these young guys um I mean you’re you’re going to be tested you’re going to be um benched you’re G to go through these you know coach’s decisions of you not playing um and you have to stay ready and when you’re not only do

You have to stay ready when you come back you have to be even better um than you were before he’s going to call you out you could have everything going for you we just take pton Peyton Watson he was in the rotation he was playing lots

Of minutes he was part of the The Trusted guys and then he got that taken away and he’s going to call you out and you have to respond back to that so I I mean I love that that happens um but also like the adversity part of it is

Why they’re the best in the world or why they are professionals um so you have to get through that and Christian Brown has went through that at various times but he’s on the other side of that and he continues to grow so like this is a

Great spot for him to be in Chris I thought that pyton Watson had a something of a a bounceback game you know he goes for 10 points nine rebound near double double two assists one steal three blocks plus 22 and had some big time plays as he all when he makes plays

They’re big time play he doesn’t make little time plays he only makes big time plays did it meet the standard that you were hoping for after Michael mone’s challenge I think so and I think you just have to look at the activity you know with Payton Watson he was flying

Around out there today this something I’ve noticed with Christian Brown as of late he’s making the 5050 plays oh yeah now that we think of you know when we think of Christian Brown and his activity and his Hustle and I felt like pton Watson made enough of them tonight pton Watson he gets

Going when he’s making blocks like a block shot gets Payton Watson going and the second he blocked one tonight he seemed like a different guy out there um he was flying around I liked his activity I liked his energy I liked his offense too he was aggressive and yeah

Nine rebounds two offensive rebounds three blocks of Steel he did commit five fouls but I take that is a sign of him being really aggressive tonight yeah and I actually take that as a positive so this did meet what I felt like Payton Watson need the show tonight I don’t

Think that it only met it like it exceeded those expectations because he just got called out um and that could be a lot on a young guy could be a confidence Shaker we just talked about a big Shaker where you just like don’t respond in those type of ways or you go

Away from it he I mean he he took it head on and he got back to playing his brand of basketball he had three blocks one steal so four stocks in one game yeah um had his one of his best ever defensive I mean sorry rebounding um he

Almost had his first double double of that would have been actually really cool I kind of wish he would have got it and I think they took over rebound first double double first double double wow like this is a game that you like this

Is a big response for him um in a game that everybody else played well yeah so it’s not like it was like pitting him against other people it’s like hey go out there and continue to play your brand of basketball go Hawk things down go out there and foul

It’s okay to make those type of mistakes if you’re doing it at you know full um like you’re just going all out so I I love the way that he responded in this game just be aggressive on both ends of the floor and nobody can f fault you for

That to go back to Malone’s comment from after that Portland game when he said only Christian and Reggie are locked into the playoff rotation obviously he left out Payton Michael Mullen is so tactical in those moments totally he knows exactly what he’s doing and I think part of it was testing pton Watson

I think you’re right it might have been testing how strong willed he was is this gonna shake him or is it gonna motivate him I think you’re I honestly think you’re right I think by now we know that P wat’s a strong willed guy and it obviously did motivate him maybe it

Refocused him a little bit and he comes out tonight has a great bounceback game and that probably showed Milan a little something I think it did I thought it was a very good night I didn’t know if it was like a great out there wasn’t

Like a ton that stood out like big time to me he made great defensive plays which is what he does and I thought he was very good if I was grading him I would give him like an A minus I’m and that’s a good grade right I’m not I’m

Just saying it to me it wasn’t like A++ but it was a very good game he almost got his double double and I definitely felt like it was a reset back on the right tracks and Phoenix coming in on Wednesday will provide almost certainly will provide a real test yeah because

Going up against GG Jackson and this was the dress reheal for Wednesday so that one will be bigger but you talk about 50-50 balls Christian Brown had some tonight you know the best 50-50 ball getter on the entire team might be Nicole yish well they’re not 50-50 with

He suction you cup hands Colin Gillespie maybe Colin Gillespie has in addition to being a very just solid point guard that guy got like 12 50/50 balls tonight he had faku in out there when you look up nose for the ball in the dictionary it might have a picture of Colin Gillespie

Yeah Colin gillesby you can’t root against him he continues to just make plays he does even while you’re rooting against him I mean he has seven assist in the game he like you Tred to say something playing extremely hard for like loose balls he’s um knows where to

Be like he really has high IQ and just Savvy of making plays you talk about the nose for the ball he’s playing hard the entire time but also everyone seems to be happy when he’s out there because he’s going to make sure that he keeps everybody involved he’s not going to

Just get attacked the entire time um because of his like limitations or anything like that and he’s going to make a big play that Alo to Peyton Watson great play that’s what you feed off of that’s what you get the crow what the crowd going that’s how you get a

Second unit into a rhythm and he seems to always get the second unit in a rhythm um when he gets those minutes he plays well um so I mean another stellar game from him he really was good he did a lot of different things well tonight
