Despite the CP/Podz backcourt lineup of CP, Podz, Klay, JK, and TJD posting a -50 net rating and being outscored 11-6 in the 5 minutes they played to start the 2nd quarter, the decision was made to start the 4th quarter with that same lineup but with JK swapped out for Wiggs. To what should have been no one’s surprise, Steve was forced to call a timeout just 3 minutes into the 4th after what had been a 3pt Warriors lead to start the quarter had turned into the Warriors being down 4. The CP/Podz backcourt pairing that was outscored 11-6 in 5 mins in the 2nd quarter, was outscored 12-5 in the 4th in just 3 minutes.
The trio of CP/Klay/TJD with no Podz in the backcourt, however, was also played for 8 mins this game with the lineup of CP, Klay, GPII, Dray, and TJD accounting for 7 of those 8 mins, and which is the lineup shown in the video. This lineup had a +20.3 net rating in their 7 mins and outscored Minny 19-15. Yet somehow, they were neither the lineup chosen to start the 4th nor were they played at any point in the 4th, even after Podz was subbed out and prior to Steph being subbed in.

While Steph should have gotten obvious minutes earlier, your arguments are awful. Using 5 minutes worth of net rating sample size within a single game is just a terrible way to make a point. Pod and CP3 are +10 in 400 minutes this season. If you want to argue the lineup is too small vs the lineup that wolves were playing, that’s better, except our entire team is undersized.
I think perhaps the problem with Podz / CP3 is that CP3 sets ppl up, but Podz isnt a great scorer. On the other hand, there is prob some truth to Podz and Curry in that Podz can usually find curry. Doesnt have to shoot as much.
So I guess if many of us are saying he can;t be a starter, the same group likely can;t see him on the bench with CP3 either. seems like a conundrum.
Do you think that it’s meaningful to add that 11-6 in 5 minutes is a -50 net rating?
Really curious how the coaching staff thinks about this and if they argue at all like hey the 2nd q lineup we put out was bad, let’s try using to start the 4th quarter, they might do better!
Wiggins at pf is an issue, he just lacks the size to body up bigger guys in the paint. And it also leaves us with no perimeter defense. Kerr forcing these 3 guard line ups has a negative domino effect on our rotations. When we play bigger, we are better. Steph, whoever, wiggs, jk or tjd, and dray.
