Skechers Basketball Performance Review

All right time to get up come on one of these is a really solid performer with an awesome cushion setup it’s this one it’s this one and the other is a pretty big Disappointment what’s going on guys welcome back to the official wear testers YouTube channel my name is Jackson and today we have a performance review on not just one but two Sketchers basketball models the skx float and the skx resag grip and yeah in case you missed it Sketchers makes basketball

Shoes now in addition to the shoes they did send over these nice little Tech breakdown sheets so big thanks to Sketchers I wish more Brands would do that so I can tell that Sketchers was kind of aiming for a different play style a different preference with each

Of these models and it’s funny because the one that doesn’t really match up with what I normally like in a basketball shoe ended up being the one that I enjoyed playing in the most so we’ll start with the skx float this shoe looks like something that my father-in-law would be like really

Excited about the traction setup here is a radial pattern and on this colorway I’ve got translucent rubber the rubber attracts a ton of dust if there’s dust on the floor this thing is going to find it but despite that I found the performance to be more than adequate

You’ll need to wipe the outsoles every now and then when you’re not on a really clean court but despite that I found the traction performance to be consistently really good my only complaint is with outdoor durability uh just don’t take these Outdoors they’re not going to last

It makes you wonder why they’re using Goodyear rubber the durability not only on the float but also on the resig grip more on that later neither shoe is durable outside so anyways keep the skx float indoors and you’ll be good to go for cushion we have Sketcher hyperburst

Foam throughout the midsole you can actually see it peeking out through these little Windows right here you also have a hyper burst Pro insole which is actually super nice and is one of my favorite aspects of the shoe as a whole the overall feeling underfoot is pretty plush although you definitely sit higher

Up off the ground than normally what I prefer however because of the comfort and the overall stability of the skx float I really didn’t mind and I didn’t notice that much when I was playing in them the impact protection is topnotch it’s really good if you’re going into this expecting something like memory

Foam which it is Sketchers after all you’re going to be pleasantly surprised by how good this cushion setup really is the material setup here is pretty basic it’s mesh with some plastic in the highear areas as well as along the lacing setup the side panels here are

More of an open mesh while the front half of the shoe is a much tighter mesh with a decent amount of padding behind it and that tongue is an open mesh with a lot of padding behind it as well in the collar area the material is soft

Enough that despite the mid cut I didn’t feel like my movement was being restricted at all the material setup is nothing special but it definitely gets the job done there’s no bad Flex Points there’s no pinching nothing hurts it’s easy to get on and yeah overall it’s

Just a solid material setup the skx float was clearly made with comfort in mind and I think it delivers so now on to the fit I got my true size and that is what I would recommend for everyone including wide Footers it’s not a suffocating fit it’s not one of those

That fits like extremely one to one for a specific kind of foot shape the skx float is much more accommodating of several different foot shapes now because of that I did have to do some cinching up of the laces and really making sure that my foot was locked down

But I was able to do that and the shoe has some features in place that make sure that your foot stays locked over the footed most notably you have these TPU pieces here in the heel and in the midfoot there is also one kind of hidden

Up here in the toe area it’s behind the mesh you also do sit just down within this top line of the midsole it’s not much but it does help secure your foot just a little bit more heel lock down was also good so you know I thought heel

The toe the lock down on the skx float was really good the shoe was like the old head that shows up to the gym can’t jump over a phone book has zero athleticism still gets buckets it’s not flashy but it gets the job done the support on the skx float is anchored by

That fit and you also have some different support pieces in place and it’s really a more stable shoe than I thought it was going to be that base is nice and wide and the midsole here on the lateral side really forms a pretty decent Outrigger torsion support is

There as well nothing to complain about there siren Wee Woo you also have an internal heel counter to go along with these TPU Clips here on the side God that’s siren is loud and so yeah while you are sitting a little bit higher up off the ground than you do in most shoes the shoe never felt

Tippy I never felt unstable while I was wearing them so because of that good accommodating fit and the overall stability I feel like the support features here are going to be more than enough for pretty much anybody so yeah overall the skx float is going to be a

Good option if you’re somebody who wants a lot of cushion and or if you have a wide foot they’re comfortable they fit well the traction’s good this isn’t a shoe that’s made for Speedy or Shifty guard even though I’m not speedy nor am I Shifty I do usually gravitate

Towards shoes that are made for players like that however I did enjoy my time playing in the skx float now let’s move on to the skx resig grip I’ll be honest this shoe has potential but there is one thing that just totally ruins it and makes it so that I really don’t

Recommend it for anybody and it’s that tooling setup so resig grip is a foam that’s even more firm than something like flow and it’s used for the traction and it’s also kind of used as a car your foam for the hyper burst midsole the traction pattern overall looks pretty

Good it’s got some Nubs and some lines and some pressure points and right out of the box it performed pretty good even on a Dusty Court it honestly surprised me the problem here is that resag grip come here is the least durable outsole material that I have ever experienced in

My life it makes flow look durable terrible terrible terrible and so once that foam started to wear away I noticed a significant drop off in the per performance of the traction even after like 5 6 hours playing in the shoe and yeah that’s pretty much it I mean that

Alone SNS any potential that this shoe had because if you don’t have good traction especially after only playing in them for a few days like come on man and like even if you play on like Immaculate Court conditions like that durability is going to fall off and

You’re just not going to be able to stick to the floor so anyways even though I don’t recommend the shoe because of the traction let’s go over the other aspects of the shoe because there is a lot for Sketchers to build off of but the cushion is not one of

Them resag grip is also terrible for cushion it’s just so firm that it neutralizes the hyper burst the skx Reser grip is lower to the ground than the skx float it’s more responsive more qu feel but honestly I just prefer the comfort of the skx float over these one

Good thing is that these have the same insoles as the skx float so you know that’s a plus and the rest of the shoe I thought was pretty good I like the upper features a rip stop material with a whole lot of plastic I don’t know what

This material is in the back but it works you have essentially the same collar setup as the skx float feels really good it’s nice and soft the tongue isn’t quite as padded as the skx float but it does do the job it’s not very breathable but the rest of this

Upper is breathable so it does have you covered in that regard so yeah much like the skx float even though this is a different material setup it does get the job done when it comes to fit these run a half size big so whatever size you

Normally get get a half size down that includes wide Footers so if you normally go a half size up in most of your shoes just stick with your true size in these and you should be good and because they fit a little big it was kind of hard to

Get a gauge on just how good that that lock down was connected to the bottom two lace loops on each side of the shoe you have these little support wings and these did a really good job of helping you stay over the footed you can feel

Them in action you also do sit ever so slightly within this midsole enough that I think it does make a little bit of a difference and the heel lock down that I experienced was also pretty good so I can imagine that if I went a half size

Down I think these are going to fit really really nicely as for support you have a stable base until the traction starts sliding everywhere and then you don’t cushion is pretty firm you’re lower to the ground than the skx float you got a big old plastic midfoot shank

And not one but two heel counters One external One internal much like the fit you’ve got all the right ingredients in place here you just get the fit right and I think you’re going to have a pretty supportive shoe overall so like I said before there are some good things

To take away from the skx resig grip and there’s some stuff for sketches to build on for the future essentially I know the name of the shoe is the skx resig grip but the resig grip really was the source of the issues here so what sketches is

Going to have to do is either greatly improve the resig grip especially make it more durable or scratch it and replace it with a more traditional midsole outs soole I wouldn’t even mind Sketchers kind of revamping this using the same upper and essentially just replacing that resig grip tooling with

Something better again the deal breaker here is the traction durability I cannot overstate how bad it was yeah the cushion didn’t feel that great either but I’d be able to put up with it if the traction was good you know I applaud Sketchers for taking such a big swing

With resig grip it didn’t work out and that’s okay okay you build off with that in the future you have a nice upper and you do have a really good shoe in the skx float people are going to clown because it’s Sketchers but I think this

Is a really solid foundation to build on that’s pretty much all I’ve got for the performance review on the Sketcher skx resig grip and the skx float drop a comment on this let me know if you’ve tried them what you think of them and if you haven’t tried them would you give

Them any consideration both of these models also have a low top version so if lows are more your speed then maybe that’s something worth checking out they both retail for1 50 bucks which yes is too much but I do think the skx float would be worth trying out at a discount
