Is Tyler Hero season over an NBA Insider hinted at that possibility earlier today but hero himself doesn’t seem to agree with the assessment and with just 10 games left in the season and a possible spot in the playing tournament the likely outcome is it time to say goodbye

Injury in response to that hero tweeted I just had a great workout but I ain’t coming back no time soon it’s interesting it was then reported by local media that Hero’s tweet was meant to be sarcastic and that the hope is that he is going to play

Again this season David what did you make of all of this I think it’s all badly ridiculous uh first of all there was a prior tweet from Tyler with just the cap symbol so here we are year 2024 reading player tweets and uh I’m not sure what cap there is because if you’re

To believe what local media are saying it’s pretty much the same thing that Shams is saying is that they’re optimistic the heat are that he’ll make a comeback but there’s no realistic timetable for when he’ll return which is basically what chirania said so at this point we’re looking at is he received

Those injections in his foot to help him start the jump start the process of healing and treatment there’s a onewe period of inactivity as Anthony Chang you know kind of detailed in his piece for the Miami heral from there you’re kind of slowly wrapping things up in

Weeks two and three this Friday when the heat take on the Portland Trailblazers at home that’ll be the two- week period when he’ll be kind of assessed at that point in time to see how far along he’s coming if he’s making any progress at all but there’s probably going to be

Another week week after that of him kind of again going through similar treatment trying to ramp things up and see how far along he is that way at this point as Chang indicated maybe there’s a possibility that he might join the heat on their road trip which coincides with

Our watch party in April 5th that would be a fantastic occurrence for us if you could get Tyler on the big screen there while we’re having you know a meet and greet with all of our fans but at the same time I’m not sure if that’s realistic and to the overall point about

From what Anthony and other local reporters are saying I don’t think Tyler understands sarcasm I I don’t think he’s that kind first of all his use of the double negative and his tweet response not exactly a clear indicator so I don’t know exactly what to read into it

Because I’m not sure that Tyler is offering any clarification I don’t know that local sourcing is offering much either other than just kind of waiting and seeing and I think that’s just where we’re all at Tyler included so he might be upset at what Shams is saying but I

Don’t think what Shams said was all that inflammatory or that it conflicts with anything that we’ve heard from Tyler from the team and from the local reporters so I don’t buy it I don’t bu buy what all of it I don’t buy any of it

Uh I don’t and I don’t buy that this was sarcasm that’s what I don’t buy more than anything uh look you said that chirania was basically reflecting the same thing that the local reporting was saying the one place I would disagree is that local reporting maintains that the heat are

Optimistic that he’s going to play again well shania’s report like Shams took a little bit more of a negative tone the quote was the big worry is Tyler hero he has not played in a while there’s no real sense of when he’ll be back when he’ll be available at no point did he

Ever say that the heat are optimistic or anything like that they just we have no idea he hasn’t played for a while and it doesn’t look like he’s going to be playing for a while going forward and so hero replied to that saying cap basically this is a lie I just had a

Great workout but I ain’t coming back no time soon and to me I thought he was saying like hey the lie in here was that he hasn’t played in a while obviously Shams is referring to the fact that he’s missed 16 straight games nobody cares about your workouts but it’s the hero’s

Like I’ve played I’ve did a workout nobody cares about your workout and then he and then but and then I guess the sarcasm that was later clarified by the local beat reporters was I ain’t coming back no time soon I don’t buy that I

Don’t buy it and I and I and I’m not saying that like Ira or Anthony or anybody like that is is is misreporting anything that’s not that that is not what I’m saying I believe that they were told that it was sarcasm because with like you I don’t look at that and see

Sarcasm and for both with both beat reporters of record to say that that was sarcasm means and I haven’t talked to any I haven’t talked to anybody and I have not talked to them so got it for the same Source yeah it means that they were fed that

Information from the same Source whether that’s the Heat organization Tyler Hero’s agent whoever it might be and so I don’t care in other words because I don’t believe that was sarcasm I believe that it’s a cleanup job I believe that Tyler is frustrated at something or somebody or some organization perhaps oh

And tweeted what he tweeted said he’s not coming back anytime soon and I think he meant it and I think that the cleanup now is hey he was just being sarcastic it would have been a lot easier for him to not for him to just not tweet anything if all he

Wanted to do was get off a bad sarcastic joke it feels like he’s got better things to do and that’s not really Tyler Hero’s Mo right this is not Kevin Durant on Twitter f with Twitter fingers this is like I I I don’t buy it David I don’t

Buy it I don’t think it was sarcasm and I think Tyler was trying to convey something else which was frustration at somebody someone or some organization this is like you know making a joke next to a boss or a spouse or something like that and then being very very

Uncomfortable and going oh what a what a kider look at that guy look at him he’s just he’s just being funny of course he’s coming back don’t read into that’s just ridiculous I don’t know at this point I’m starting to lean into the possibility that Tyler is not making a

Return at any point and I I I don’t know I I’m well is it because the foot is that bad because he did go the PRP injection all that is real and the timeline for that is real and whatever Tyler means by anytime soon soon is a

Very relative thing as soon 24 hours from now as soon Friday’s game in Portland as soon two weeks from now as soon never right nobody knows so it’s it’s subjective but I don’t I don’t know like that to me didn’t the Tweet did not sound like

Tyler hero had an idea of when he is coming back because like you said nobody really knows he can go he’s going to go through the procedures of the PRP another week or so for the ramp up and stuff like that and then you start getting reevaluated but you don’t know

How your body’s going to respond to this nobody knows like there’s no solid information because it doesn’t exist Because unless you have a time machine so for Tyler to tweet something like that means to me that he’s not planning on coming back anytime soon which is

Just as bad which has nothing to do with the injury right so what’s up yeah that’s an interesting question yeah that’s an interesting question I mean it could be as you said frustration uh I think I think this is playing out very similarly to what a lot of people see as

It it played out the same way with Justice Winslow where Justice was saying oh I can’t play and the he is saying get your ass out there you can play and just as is saying no my back really hurts I can’t play and the heater is saying get

The hell out there we need you to play and then basically he’s saying I can’t play and then he gets traded and then he got traded yeah so I don’t know that it’s playing out quite this way if look we talked about this when the you know the announcement of the getting those

Injections first took place it’s a pain management thing if if it’s just a pain management given heat culture and everything else as cautious as they’ve been with other players in the past there’s also a finite point it’s like you know at some point you’ve got to be

Able to play like just just yesterday Eric spoler talking about bam at a bio and and the Collision he took at the game where he hit his head he’s like he’s a warrior he’s tough he can go through it he was great after the injury Etc like there’s no denying that fans in

General and and the Heat organization view pain tolerance and playing through pain as an asset like as a you know an an indictment of of their personality an indicator that they can tough it out and go through the pain be a warrior and everything else like that whether Tyler

Is up to Snuff in that sense I don’t know but I would sense that there’s a growing divide between the the organization the coaching staff and Tyler himself as of yeah what limit there is to how much pain he could take and at the risk of of you know going out

On a limb too much here and just started theorizing and and and conspiracy theory like I don’t I don’t they don’t leave much room for much interpretation right there is a the heat are not offering much information Tyler hero is not offering much information outside of this tweet

Tweet yeah right and then and you get Shams reporting this and Shams is actually been like like w doesn’t get a lot of heat stuff but sham has gotten some heat stuff over the last three years and so I in the void of actual information

Or a timeline of any kind we are left to our own devices and internet sluth are going to do the sleuthing and that’s just what’s going to happen here and and one tweet from T hero is going to be taken into some kind of context whether

It’s out of context in the wrong context or whatever that to me did not look like sarcasm I don’t believe it to be sarcasm and whatever the reason behind it is is again left up to interpretation by anybody who reads it and so I’m not I’m

I don’t like you we’re not like Reckless on this show we’re pretty I feel like level-headed when it comes to this stuff but I think it’s also fair to say give us something real here provide some real information because in the void of real information this is going to come

Flooding in and I don’t feel bad about it at all because I do think obviously the injury is reason a the re that’s why he is out but I think there’s a reason B and I don’t know what reason B is and I don’t need to speculate on that because

That’s not important right now but I think there’s a reason B and I’d like to get more information on what reason B is that’s said does he does he return flat out like in your assessment do you think he com back this um I think I think he does if we’re including the

Playoffs I have no idea about the regular season but because we only have 10 games left and I don’t know how long this ramp up is going to be maybe he comes back with a game or two left in the regular season I don’t know but I I

The one more likely to keep aside from that I think you might even entertain the possibility of trading Jimmy Butler I don’t know how realistic that is but I think it’s certainly something that the team has to consider and so this offseason results in either an NBA

Championship or it results in this team getting blown up I think you’re right and I think you’re right because Pat Riley essentially said that right I mean he said like it’s been six years with this group he knows as well as anybody does because of his time in the NBA Lakers

The Knicks the heat whatever like teams just can’t stay together all that long and Eric spolar ain’t going anywhere he just signed an eight-year extension so that’s not changing a lot of teams will change the head coach right if you need to change you just change the coach

That’s the easiest thing to do and that’s what a lot of teams do Milwaukee all these other teams but that’s not happening in Miami um Jimmy Butler’s 34 going to be 35 next season like this is this has been a long stretch it’s been a wildly successful stretch Beyond

Anybody’s dreams when Jimmy Butler signed in 2019 that was the same summer kawhai went to the the Clippers LeBron went to the Lakers like of all the wings to CH Paul George to the Clippers like of all the wings to move around Jimmy Butler was universally regarded as the

Worst one an All-Star but the worst one not LeBron not kawhai not Paul George Paul George was coming off of an MVP right top five finishing MVP with the Oklahoma City Thunder that year or or two years before that or one of those like and who has been to the finals more

Than any of those guys Jimmy Butler LeBron has the one championship in 2020 you know so maybe you get in the edge there but that’s you know maybe the greatest player of all time so if Jimmy Butler to him that’s okay but team has more playoff wins yeah more playoff wins

More more success more finals appearances more Conference Finals appearances Like You could argue that Jimmy Butler had has had the most successful stretch and I think we would here so it’s been an incredibly successful stretch it’s tied Miami’s record for the most consecutive seasons in a row with a with a playoff

Appearance at six they haven’t done that basically since Tim not basically they haven’t done it since Tim Hardaway in in Alonzo Morning in the 9s so this has been arguably the most one of the most successful stretches of heat history and there’s nothing wrong with that but it

Comes to an end just like Hardway and and zo just like dwade and sha which was a lot shorter but it got you got a championship out of it just like the big three which was the best stretch of Miami Heat basketball of all time two championships four finals in a row but

It could be successful but it can also come to an end and it kind of feels like this would be an ending point and the reason we bring it up again is because Pat Riley said that he’s sort of working on the next rebuild and if you look at

What that rebuild is it’s increasingly young they traded Kyle Larry 36 years old for a younger player in Terry Rosier they did not opt to trade young players like nikovic haime hakas even Tyler herro for older players whether it be Damen Lillard whether or not they could

Or couldn’t they didn’t do it and they’re holding on to their young guys and you listen to Pat Riley in that press conference before the season before really the offseason he was talking about how important draft picks are Pat Riley talking about the importance of draft picks because

They’re important in building a roster in today’s NBA with the new CBA and the second tax apron and how expensive the top end of your roster could be and he’s like we need good cheap young players with with rookie scale contracts you know and and so it does just sort of

Feel like we’re starting to turn and the only weird like the only thing that doesn’t really match with the general tone and tenor and direction of the heat is Jimmy Butler at 34 years old going on 35 in need of a contract extension because if you just take Jimmy off this

Roster it feels like everything makes sense right young like 24y old Tyler hero 26y old 25-year old whatever bam atab bio 20-year-old uh Nico 22y old haime like all these guys are 25 26 and younger like that’s room to build you have most of your dra like you have a

Bunch of draft picks you can do things here but you’re only rush because of Jimmy right I mean I get that it makes sense in in terms of restarting the timeline and it kind of puts you in a much more clear timeline I like I’ve maintained

The timeline has been out of whack since 2019 they were far more successful in Jimmy’s first season than they expected to they went all the way to the finals because the bubble and everything else but their their timelines have been operating at two different speeds simultaneously and it’s grown any kind

Of sense of development and roster construction out of whack because you just you don’t know exactly what you’re trying to do whether or not you’re trying to supplement and and and build your young cabinet of assets as as Pat has referred to in the past or whether

Or not you’re just trying to accelerate the timeline say we’re in win now mode so I think they kind of trying to do both at once and while it’s worked in terms of success it hasn’t resulted in the ultimate success and you can’t just say okay we’re we’re starting over until

This season like this is the last season for this and and maybe you’re right I I I I would have thought that Tyler would have been the more likely piece to trade at this point given whatever frustration there might be with him and and that might still be the case they might trade

Both Tyler and Jimmy and say bam this is your team we’ll supplement we’ll complement you however we can with whatever those Acquisitions might be turn the keys over to Bam and let him lead the way I don’t know what that team would look like I really don’t to answer

The second part of Professor X’s question I’m not sure what that rebuild would be let’s explore that a little bit more um we’ll do that we’ll talk about Jimmy Butler a little bit more we’ll talk about tell here we’ll talk about all this and then we’ll get to the polls

With it he said like we couldn’t do the big three today because if we did the big three with those three max contracts there’s no room for Shane bad there’s no room to bring back Haslam there’s no room to sign Ray Allen a couple later yeah there’s no room for those guys yeah

M like there’s no room for those guys and you’re seeing across the league it’s becoming more of a big two League you got your top two and then you’ve got the rest of your role players just because of how the new CBA is broken out and the

Punitive tax aprons and all these things so unless you’re Joe Lake up or Matt ishia who kind you’re kind of working with some sort of grandfathered in type of payroll here that you’re just willing to keep paying it’s really hard to climb to that number and stay to that number

And build a legit team around that and you can even see with the warriors with Joe Lake up it’s not NE it’s not actually working despite the Warriors beating Miami on Tuesday it’s been a it’s been a rough year for them and I don’t think anybody anticipates them

Going very deep and it looks like they’re going to have to take a step back in payroll this coming summer and we’ll see what happens with Phoenix that could be a whole other thing depending on like they might be in the planing who knows so I think if you’re looking at the heat

Okay all right you get if you’re any team you get two max players Miami has two max players they have Jimmy Butler and they have B manabo so the next question is how far does your two max players get you and I think we’ve seen how far those two max players get you

Really far but not not championship ship winning for they get you to the finals twice but they don’t win you the championship I don’t think Bam’s going anywhere if Jimmy Butler and we’ve had this conversation before David but and I don’t know how long how much deeper we

Want to go on this but let’s just say hypothetically Jimmy Butler he’s up for an extension that’s not hypothetical he is up for an extension he’s going to ask for a lot of money and he has a point hey one of the greatest stretches in heat history I’m the star I’m largely

Responsible for it pay me he’s got a point the heat also have a point in saying you’re going to be 35 years old you played not you didn’t even play 60 games last year for us we’re not going to pay you a Max we’re not going to pay

You $60 million a year if we can’t count on you for 82 games I realize you’re a 16 game player but we don’t know we don’t even know if we’re going to get those 16 games out of you because these last couple regular seasons have been so difficult because of your unavailability

In large part not just because yep so they could so that’s what the one part of the rebuild would look like I think the other part would look like something like like trading Tyler hero because if there is something going on between hero and the organization and look rarely do

You see a player get mentioned in trade rumors this long and not get traded right OG and anobi is such a great example of this where it’s just like every year trade rumors every year and then what happened Toronto ultimately had to and they kind of got less than

They probably could have gotten for him if they had traded him a year or two ago but they ultimately traded him and they did trade that was mostly contractual though right like he was an impending free agency he switch a he switched agents you know he wanted to pa okay but

There but I do think with Tyler if he’s going to play if he’s not going to play 40 games this year like him being the centerpiece of a Damen Lillard trade is out the window like he doesn’t have that kind of value he didn’t even play half the games

This year yeah so yeah we we we yeah I don’t know I I I don’t know that I necessarily agree and maybe it will just take a a hell of a playoff run in order to change that perception absolutely that could happen yeah no I think that’s I like we
