If he proves the WCF 2 years ago wasn’t a fluke then I don’t see a problem

Some coaches are just better in the playoffs when they can game plan hard against one opponent. The players all like him and our locker room is cohesive as ever.

If we bomb out in the playoffs then no shot this happens

LOL. please do not. we already fumbled with mosley. let the season play out. evaluate the options in the offeason. Would take snyder or even consider bud.

  3. GotKarprar

Lowkey he’s been pretty good lately. See how the playoffs go and then make a decision

  4. Hope he gets it. We have the potential to have some real continuity going into the next couple of seasons with all the young talent we have under contract for the next 2-3 years. Changing coaches in the middle of all that while the players appear to like him would basically be pissing into the wind.

Edit: Lol, OP downvoting positive Kidd comments.

Timing of these articles is so weird.

    Like, definitely a wait-and-see-what-happens-in-the-playoffs issue.

Please god no. It is absoltely time to move on from Kidd barring winning Championship.

  7. Jackfitz88

If we make a deep playoff run, now that he has an actually roster, he’ll deff get an extension

Sticking with a bottom 5 coach in the league ain’t it

“We were going to extend your contract, but we’ve decided to hire Powell and THJ as your replacement”….would be the Karma I’d love to see….

He’s been bad for parts of this season and even last season, but we have been playing significantly better lately and a lot of it is because he’s made adjustments.

He moved Gafford/DJJ to the starting lineup. He has benched THJ when he’s not playing well. He has invested into playing bigger with Lively/Gafford as opposed to Maxi small ball. The defense has been significantly better over the last 10 games due to this.

I would say if we make a good playoff run, he deserves to stay. Otherwise, he should be gone.

The same people crying about Kidd’s rotations were the ones getting mad at him for not playing Christian Wood more.

The same people crying that Luka has no weapons to work with conveniently ignore that Kidd didn’t have any weapons either.

The same people that claim that Luka is succeeding in spite of Kidd fail to acknowledge that Luka is the reason we have Kidd.

The same people that claim that Kidd “doesn’t run plays” ignore that Luka plays the same way on Team Slovenia and under Carlisle.

The same people that claim that Kidd doesn’t know how to use timeouts conveniently ignore that he has the highest ATO point differential **in the league.**

This sub has become incredibly toxic and insufferable since 2018, and in that time, Kidd has been the scapegoat for everything that goes wrong and never gets credit for anything that goes right.

  12. Just let his contract ride out and then make a decision. No reason to extend him this early

He’s about to get bailed out by Nico and Luka/Kyrie absolutely cooking

  14. Just hire Kenny Atkinson instead! Dude worked miracles in Brooklyn until Durant and Irving thought they knew better and wanted to hire Nash instead.

He is showing that he probably deserves it too.

The grass isn’t always greener on the other side.

Kidd has honestly been really solid for a stretch, I made some anti Kidd propaganda a while ago that I just haven’t had a chance to post since he has genuinely looked like a good coach. If he keeps it up I wouldn’t mind an extension.

  17. I am not a Kidd fan and I think the Mavs made a mistake choosing him over Mosley. We’ll just have to see what happens in the playoffs. Personally I don’t want him back but I know the players love him and he seems more motivated since the trade

  18. StormTheTrooper

Is he a good regular season coach? No

Is he a good playoff coach? TBD (one good sample, not enough to conclude)

Does he have locker room support? Yes

Does he have FO support? Yes

At the end of the day, let him have a playoff free trial. If we over perform and reach the WCF again or at least give Denver or Minny a tough 7 game series in the 2nd round , give him another 2 year deal and see where it goes. The development of Hardy, Green and Lively is going well and OMax is about to join the mix.

Have to balance the value of continuity versus the disruption of bringing in a new and more skilled coach. As long as Nico stays here, either option is probably fine.

  20. DocumentAggressive56

Mavs 3rd hottest team in league since trade deadline. Lookin more and more like Kidd just didnt have the horses early on tbh

  21. koenigwagner

Jason Midd is frequently getting outcoached by top coaches like Carlisle and Nick Nurse, but at least at the moment I don’t see anybody better for the Mavs

  22. ITakeLargeDabs

It’s literally championship or bust at this point, there is no way we can waste the talent and youth we have on a guy who clearly is a far far far better player than coach. We don’t have to make NBA legends into coaches, not everyone can do it and forcing it only degrades the quality of the league. Thank you for 2011 but I’m not trying to give Kidd a job just because he was really fucking sick at passing the ball back in the day.

  23. Dapper_Connection526

Give him a front office job and hire Jordi Fernandez
