Hawks vs. Celtics Postgame Press Conference: Quin Snyder

Hawks vs. Celtics Postgame Press Conference: Quin Snyder

Coach it’s just uh two straight games with deante just kind of being the head of the snake being the leader just what have you seen as he’s grown over this last month as he’s taken on the leadership role yeah we were I wasn’t joking but half joking I guess when told

Him to get 16 threes up tonight um CU we felt you know the way that they were defending um that would be important I think he shot 19 so he’s coachable it’s h and yeah you know particularly tonight with Drew holiday I thought you know his teammates did a good job of recognizing

Situations and trying to get in matchups and you know obviously that’s where we were going late and uh you put the ball in his hands and don’t overthink it and you know let him make a play he’s been dealing with lower back soreness over the last couple of games for him to kind

Of have the performance that he did tonight despite soreness I mean what does it say about his character and his skill level yeah I he’s tough is what it comes down to he’s just tough and he’s mentally tough you know I think they the two go hand inand to a degree um but

He’s you know he he’s he’s defending too you know I think sometimes you know our whole team is defending um so that’s that’s good to see you know collectively but with the back you know that’s something obviously he’s been fighting for some time it’ll be good to have a

Day off but he knows how to take care of himself he’s a pro and um you know he’ll do what he needs to do I don’t think he’ll be able to get him out of the game you know Trent actually did a good job

When he was in it just was you know I wanted to get DJ one little spell at the beginning of the fourth and Trent really held down the fort until we could get to jonte back in coach what did you see from your team’s ability to just constantly answer back to Boston

Especially late as you guys were pushing you know towards the end of the fourth in in overtime well I think you know we obviously saw what What DJ did and you know his shots got as they locked in more as the game went on it happens all

The time it happened to them too you know shots are harder and I I thought that collectively our our team was able to recognize situations Clinton knew you know when to come up and pick and roll when they were switching up the line and trying to get matchups you know I

Thought we were we were smart you know and being able to think late is huge you know and I think you know we didn’t get we didn’t get rattled and we didn’t get out of character you know we one of the biggest things is we want to keep

Running you know so you get more space on the floor and I think that was a big part you know doing that requires you to get a stop um but as much as anything you know you answer runs and shots with stops you know and we see the buckets

But a lot of times that comes after the defensive to possession coach uh your team has now won four games in a row on his current home stand despite injuries kind of you know pling the team as of recently it seems like you’re getting the most out

Of your your your lineups as of recently guys are playing hard and they’re really listening to the philosophies in which you’re setting what’s been the most impressive thing you’ve seen over this last four game stretch well I I think there’s been a focus on defending and you know that that’s created offensive

Opportunities for us and you know on the offense end I think we obviously I think I said it before pregame I didn’t care how many shots you know as long as we’re efficient and uh we’re finding ways uh to do that I think there was a stretch

Too where you know hunt gave us buckets and a stretch where bogey gave us buckets and those guys were all of them you know Clinton too people playing off each other and you know helping each other on the offensive end you know you you end up seeing you know there there

Was a number of shots you know from DJ that we we wanted to space and give him room and let him attack but there were other situations where his teammates whether really in pick and roll as much as anything I thought he and Clint were really connected coach 28 Second Chance points

From you guys just what does that say about the team not giving up on possessions it says a lot um was a point of emphasis for us before the game you know we felt like I think I can’t recall the stats but they they won that rebounding battle um in the first game

The Challenge is you know to get to the glass and still get back back and particularly you know on a back to back we just said we’re not allowed to be tired and that meant guys were crashing and still trying to get back and if you could do both those things you know

Officially there there was a a number of times you know they got out and I think they started the game that way with long outlets and they got behind us a couple times especially Jaylen Jaylen Brown so that that’s you know they he runs so

Well you know it’s it’s hard um but for the most part I thought that was a really good Focus for us kind of to piggyback off that a little bit um just the hustle plays where was whether it was V taking a charge or I mean it felt

Like every single big play was off of an offensive rebound how big are those a hustle plays when you’re playing against a team that’s ranked or first in the NBA they’re they’re a really good team and that was something you know again the glass and and we felt like you know

The 50/50 balls all those situations um loose balls you know even if we didn’t get the ball um just trying to when when you know they’re so good um if you don’t get that ball it’s usually a catch and shoot three and you know that’s it’s a so you you you double down

On that so those plays you know you see them and you see somebody on the floor and you see the the hustle um but they’re worth more than that on the scoreboard thanks coach okay

  1. To think the Hawks were looking to trade this amazing player! It shows the GM is not attuned to the true talent in the team.

  2. I am confident that the Hawks, as a team, has the Boston Celtics number. If they match-up again this postseason, the Hawks can easily get more than 2 wins against the C's or even win that series.

  3. Got to love Quin, he basically says, yeah, DJ is great but did you see Trent? Trent only played 6 minutes and was great like DJ in the moments he played. Great response Coach.
Reporters please stop repeating game stats and ask the questions that reflect what we "can't see."
For example: How has Quin coached DJ to bring him up to this level? What skills are you working on with Bogi, DJ, JJ, etc.
On a side note, we don't see these guys in the news waiving guns around. And I'm very happy I don't have to shield my kids from watching this team.
Atlanta has something special with this team and this coach.
This Hawks team is amazing with this Coach. Keep Going!
