So you guys don’t miss any of our content over the course of this season all right let’s talk some basketball all right lastly before we get out of here today my fourth biggest takeaway the Warriors looked completely dead to wrs uh and then they saved their season

You know I I kind of you know pulled aside this part of their schedule as a vulnerability for uh for the Warriors just simply because of the type of personnel they were going against teams that have really good physical strong perimeter Defenders that can make Steph

Work hard can expose the issues that the Warriors have in down the roster shot creation and I I had a feeling that this stretch would cause them some issues and it did but the last two games are not easy matchups on that front either Miami has athletes on the prim that they can

Throw at Steph the Orlando Magic have arguably the best young guard defender in the league in Jaylen sucks and so these were games that I kind of had my eye on as where it could have gone really South and and and then to make matters worse Houston can’t lose you

Know so like it was looking like a danger zone and this is where you know I have such an appreciation for guys like Steph Curry and both Steph and LeBron have had stretches like this in the last couple of years and and it’s helped you know kind of reinforce the way that feel

About them as players because these are not these are not easy teams to believe in looking back to last year’s Lakers when that team looked dead to wrs and even this year and then this year’s Warriors obviously these are not teams where it’s like you’re not like like

When joic is sitting at home right now he knows like if I hit the Jets and I play to my capability we’re going to get the trophy like that’s the confidence that joic has in his group right and I don’t think LeBron or Steph have any delusions of grandeur I don’t think

They’re sitting around in their houses going like we got ourselves a real title a real title threat here I think they think like we can win but man like we got some strengths and we got some weaknesses right and what’s cool about that is like both of them have responded

To that by trying to win anyway it would have been so easy after that last sequence uh to just let go of the Rope and no they didn’t even just in that Orlando Magic game Draymond Draymond Green gets uh ejected with four four minutes into the game completely absurd

Completely unacceptable at some point Draymond Green has to understand that his team needs him on the floor and there there is absolutely no excuse to continually be getting yourself kicked out of these games and and and I would imagine Draymond would agree completely unacceptable I totally understood why

Sta was so upset but like even then it would have been so easy to just be like not our night really good Orlando Magic team on the road tough matchup for us not our night but no that’s not what happened and like it was a classic kind

Of battle too because Steph what what he go six for 18 in the but he was obviously made a three at the end of the game that kind of tied that together it was even worse before then and they got some huge contributions out of uh Andrew

Wiggins I thought that was probably his best game since the 2022 playoff run really got going in the with the ball in his hands there in that fourth quarter started with a kickout three Steph got blitzed on the right side of the floor and Andrew Wiggins stuck that above the

Break three on the left side but after that it was all Wiggins on the ball like running those inverted ball screen actions where like again the so Steph sets the ball screen nobody who’s guarding Steph wants to hedge or help or anything because his job is guard Steph

At all costs right and so it essentially operates as a really really uh uh great screening because as long as Steph sets a good screen on the on ball Defender there’s nobody that’s going to be waiting on the other side of that screen as a matter of

Fact Orlando tried switching it late and then Wiggins ended up just bullying his way to the basket out of the post it was a really really impressive effort from Wiggins and honestly like that’s going to be the big kind of like swing factor for whether or not Golden State can make

A real meaningful playoff run versus something that is less impressive it’s going to be that legitimate secondary offensive initiator maybe it’s Wiggins maybe it’s kaminga maybe it’s Chris Paul maybe it’s Clay but like someone needs to become consistent on that front because what ends up happening is if you

Have a night like that and kaminga is a little iffy and Wiggins is a little iffy and Clay is a little iffy the Warriors just lose they just lose because they don’t have that consistency in that group and so I thought that was a really encouraging sign but again I thought

When you saw the emotion from Steph from when Draymond got suspended or ejected to when he hit the big shot at the end of the game you can tell we might as fans analysts whatever be like this Warriors team don’t really have a a great chance and that for the record that’s the

Truth but Steph Steph isn’t accepting that as an answer and again like a lot of times we look at the The Mountaintop moments as the defining characteristics of these guys we look at Steph hoisting the trophy KD hoisting the trophy LeBron hoisting the trophy and we’re like these

Are the moments that define them as their best and I tend to disagree I think those are an important part of it but all of these different moments demonstrate a players’s greatness throughout the entire process from start to finish including like the years where your team doesn’t really have it what

Are you showing in those situations you know this is actually the biggest reason why I’ve said Steph is the best leader of this particular era I don’t think Steph rides the highs and lows as much as other as much as other leaders do he does a good good job

Of keeping an even Keel and helping trying to bring limited teams up and helping to make sure that a really good teams don’t get overconfident and again like I think that this has been one of my favorite Seasons rooting for him because a lot of is hit the fan in

So many different ways and the competition from Steph has just shined through as he’s tried to make it work uh I had a radio hit in San Francisco I want to say it was last Wednesday and there was a fan on on the show that just

Simply asked like hey Jason give me some you know kind of Silver Lining some sort of like positive thing to hang on to while all of this is crashing down and I said kind of what I said at the top which is this particular stretch of their schedule is really tough and they

Just need to survive it and honestly like getting those winds overheat over the Heat and Magic that’s them surviving it now five of their last 10 games are against teams that are below 500 they’ve head-to-head matchups against the Lakers and Rockets to either secure position or to fight for more position and these

Guys believe from the coaching staff to the Stars down the roster they believe and so like again it’s not I I’m not going to sit here in lie to you guys I don’t think that the Warriors have legitimate Championship potential um but I think that they’re capable of having a fun

Playoff run and I think we’d be foolish to count them out simply because of the fact that proven winners at the top are are not going to let go of the rope and as long as they hang on to that rope and they get meaningful contributions from

Other players down the roster they have the they have the potential to make some Noise

Jason Timpf discusses how Stephen Curry has risen above the issues in Golden State, including Draymond Green’s recent ejection, to keep the Warriors afloat in the NBA Playoff race. What is Golden State’s playoff potential? And is Jason willing to bet against an inspired Steph?

  1. The ranking of the difficulty of the Dubs remaining schedule was b.s. They were saying a couple of weeks ago that the Dubs remaining schedule was one of the easiest in the NBA. I think it was 25th.

  2. Steph can’t be the best leader of his era because he has never checked Draymond or held him accountable

  3. The concept of resilience is too strong and for far greater challenges than a basketball season. It is used for the ability to overcome deep psychological trauma and problems, or in its general acceptation, very challenging tasks that, with persistence and time, were transcended. I would suggest using another word.

  4. Mailbag question: as a Lakers fan, Jason, do you see how NBA refs are calling much less fouls in general since All-star weekend (the memo), EXCEPT in Lakers games, in particular in favor of the Lakers? Last three games, the free throw and PF's discrepancy was unacceptable. 110 FT's for Lakers, 52 for opponents. 90 PF's for opponents, 46 for Lakers…

Even coaches are often saying something about it postgame, tho they're usually very careful about it because they don't wanna get fined (except for Darko "It's a complete crap!" Rajakovic).

Are you watching this? Can you honestly say there isn't a BIAS in favor of Lakers EVERY SINGLE GAME they play??

  5. Keep it up, Wiggs!! 👍👏🔥🔥

Gimme 5 out 7 next games of that same intensity and efficiency and I might start trusting you again and Warriors might ACTUALLY do something special still this year! 😊😊🎉❤

  6. Seeing Steph so emotional was tough.

I'm SO GLAD he got to do his night night two hours later!! 👍👏

Hope they win the next MUST WIN GAMES as well this weekend, or it would've been all for naught!

  7. I believe that with curry it doesn’t matter what happened in the 1st 2nd or 3rd quarter. Curry understands that magic happens with him. He understands the power of Preparation and Opportunity and knows how to master it. The doors of opportunity and success opens just for a brief moment but in the 4th quarters he seems to find that door every single time. He is a Master of the Magical Moments

  8. I appreciate Lebron as well don’t get me wrong but giving up when AD is on the team and when he’s playing 80+ of his last 100 games is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT thing than giving up when your 2nd, 3rd, and 4th best guys from the last couple years ALL have one of greatest downfalls like not being available, not being consistent, constantly beating opponents up and getting rejected.

  9. Wiggins is the ceiling of the Warriors. Relying too much on Steph and focusing too much on Steph & Klay plays is the reason why the Warriors is on the brink of elimination, period!

The Warriors need to empower more Wiggins, which they are just starting to do it lately, to save the season. Splash Brothers are a perfect system streaky support players, not actually the one can carry and dominate the game.

  10. Just want to add, Steph got hit in the balls during a screen for Wiggins and instead of going down, he limped back on defense and continue playing.

  11. This is a new era where the “best” players/teams are those that rely entirely on flopping and getting a third of their points from the free throw line (looking at you Lakers, OKC Thunder, Sacramento Kings, and so many others). Watch any Warriors game. When it comes down to pure basketball, the warriors handle teams. But then the other team just starts flopping every single play and getting a damn parade to the free throw line. Basketball has changed again, it’s all about flops and free throws now. The Warriors were the last great dynasty before all of this flopping BS took over the entire league.

  12. Good analysis. It reflects my feelings during the game. The way downs and the ups. I saw Steph playing some really strong (not spectacular like GP2) defense and it made me feel great. I saw Dray do his bad act and it was a real downer. I saw Steph dog it returning to the defensive and it was another downer. Then he came alive when he needed to and it made me feel great.

  13. Makes me think of when the Garnett, Pierce Celtics started getting old. No matter what their regular season record was they were a pain in the butt to actually knock out of the playoffs

  14. Bad take. Recency bias right here. Steph has given up on the season, and its visible in his body language and the way he plays. Hes to old to be the number one option anymore unfortunatley.

  15. Man I hope we get a game in the Olympics where Steph just goes completely insane. That would be so fun. What a blessing to have been able to watch him the last 15 years.

  16. Mailbag Question: Why does Warriors get less free throw? There was a game where they won and they only had 2 freethrows.

  17. But hey in 2022 they gave up on Steph and GSW. They were never the favorite and haters were many like Perk. But Steph proved that he can be the GOAT if he wants to. He said you don't wanna see us next season and he really made it personal. This season is different but if Steph puts his mind into it and the roster does the same, then this team can make it all the way😊😊😊

  18. This dude is shooting sub 40% since the all-star break yet you’re over here saying he’s carrying the team. Look at the standings dude.

  19. Imagine if them boys still found a way to win it all .. I can see it now .. is steph the second greatest player ever 🍿
