Underappreciated isn’t the word I would’ve used. His greatness is widely known, but people are bored of him. Statistical records are overinflated in today’s NBA. If you can’t back it up in the playoffs, stats won’t do anything. Giannis already won 1 chip and solidified himself at ~ top 25, top 20 all time for now. If we win at least one more chip, then we’ll see him get another MVP plus other awards.
What is frustrating is that Jokic, as great as he is, doesn’t face the criticism Giannis gets. He doesn’t have to win another chip to get him another MVP. I guess it’s mostly due to the fact he didn’t get it last year when voters thought he deserved it, and he’ll get it just to make up for it.
It is what it is. Giannis doesn’t care, so I think we shouldn’t either. I’d much rather he gets Finals MVP.
