I love him but this was a stupid, stupid contest, up 4 with a few seconds left. I think Kerr even had Pops tell GP2 he shouldn’t have done that when they were shaking hands.

everybody knows that the game was over if you just don’t do anything on the spurs inbound play
even the warriors TV guys said multiple times after draymond hit the 2nd of 2 free throws to make it a 4 point game during the time out
don’t get anywhere near the shooter
just back away and let the spurs shoot and even if they make it most of the time left on the clock would run out that there wouldn’t be enough time left for the spurs to get another shot up especially when the warriors could’ve called a time out and moved the ball up the court for their inbound with maybe a second left in the game even had the spurs made a 3
instead payton does absolutely the worst thing imaginable in this scenario as why even jump or be anywhere near a shooter especially when he’s shooting a 3 where the only way they can tie the game is you foul him on a 3 pt shot

Everyone chastising GPII, this sub would have been apoplectic had he just stood there and watched Wemby sink a 3 to make it a 1 pt game only for the Spurs to do some insane BS like they did to the Suns this season back in October and force a turnover on our inbound into a bucket and win. The time left on the clock when the Suns had that happen? 3 seconds.
