I had faith in JKidd more than most MFFL. I liked the hire as a player’s coach (see Kyrie Irving acquisition), defensive focus and learning under Vogel as an assistant. LOVED him during 2022 part of his first season and the playoff run.

Gave him last season off after losing Brunson for nothing and having a starting front court of Bullock/Powell.

Thought he was doing much better this season prior to the trade deadline. Not really defensively, but mainly in clutch games. We lost SO MANY close games last season and now we’re #1 in the clutch.

He lost me in that 5/6 L stretch. My theory is that was when Exum had returned and he was experimenting a bunch with rotations. Too much Maxi 5-ball. Too much Green in general. He would make so many frequent substitutions it looked like recreational youth basketball.

He’s got my faith back. Fixed up the starting lineup and great move to bring in Exum first off the bench and THJ at the end of the first quarter. Good stuff.

I am cautious though. Kidd is the type of coach where having too much depth isn’t a good thing lol. Bit nervous to see what happens when Green gets back but I think the starting 5 is set at least.

Finish the season strong with no play-in, win another series at least and he should be extended based on what he’s accomplished IMO.

As far the FO, add that missing starting 3 in the off-season, JKidd to add OMax to the rotation, and time to rip off 54+ win seasons IMO.

Flowers to J Kidd, 🙌. Mavs are rolling right now, I hope they continue to stay focused into April.

I was at the game today he was so active on the sides

Almost let Houston back in with some atrocious lineups late in the fourth. I don’t think Lively or Gafford played at all with like 5 minutes left and Houston on a 12-0 run.

Like it or not, he’s gonna be here for a while

Wait. Wasn’t this guy supposed to be fired in most fan’s opinions barely a month or so ago? Lmao.

Just play Hardy a little more might need a spark off the bench one game down the stretch.

I’m not going to give him flowers yet, but it’s nice to see Kidd finally managing the lineups like we have seeding to worry about. He’s earned a little bit longer leash.

He’s still playing Tim too much but other than that the bald cunt has been decent

  12. End-Resident

All he did was start to start Daniel Gafford as opposed Lively as the Center

Kidd has been fine during this winning streak. Nothing more. And that’s okay, he’s not a great coach but this team is so talented and well put together that it doesn’t matter for now.

Do I still believe he’ll be out coached in any playoff series? Yes. Do I also believe there’s a chance it won’t matter the first round (or two if we avoid Denver)? Also yes.

All I’m gonna say is, they should hold off on discussing his next contract until after next season. Notice the change in effort from him when the talks of his employment started to really come up during that rough patch after the trade deadline? Kidd becoming complacent is what they need to avoid. He still has this season and next season with this post trade deadline team to prove us all if he’s fit to be our head coach for another 3-5 years.
