Mikal played every game this season on a losing team, it’s gotta be draining. It does seem like he did regress a bit this season though. What happened?

He’s a big reason why this is a losing team tho. Hes in his prime and has regressed significantly. But I said this in the offseason that his inability to finish at the rim might catch up with him. That’s why I wanted to cash in back then. If you can’t get to the rim and score with ease you’re going to struggle to be a consistent scorer

He just not a number 1 guy, and he doesn’t miss games. That’s really it. It’s taxing

He’s a number three on a really good/championship team. He was asked to be the number one guy and it hasn’t suited him.
Plus all NBA players look better playing with All-Star teammates

He had 45 in a Loss to the Hawks
42 in a Win vs The Magic
42 in a Loss vs Portland

Its simple. He averaged 26 points per game in 27 games as Net last year because he became the 1st option, had a higher usage in a new environment
Now he’s regressed back to the mean, teams know his tendencies and he’s simply not skilled enough to have the usage he has. His scoring dropped from 26 ppg on 60% TS last year in 27 games as a Net to 20 ppg on 56% TS this year
Another of example of the Nets holding onto assets longer than they should. I think (hope) he ends up getting traded and its only for like 2 first rounders as opposed to the 4-5 firsts that have been reported
He’s only going to have 2 years left on his current deal before needing a big pay day. No chance in hell a contender is exhausting that much capital on a 3rd/4th option when they could just pivot and go after a guy like Kyle Kuzma, Jerami Grant, DeAndre Hunter, Dillon Brooks, etc etc
Huge fumble not trading him at max value last summer. A team probably could’ve been fooled into believing he was ready to be a 2nd/3rd option and maybe an all star on a title team. After this season, its clear as day he is a high level role player who’s a 3rd/4th option at best
