How do you stop the Nuggets?! Perk points to the importance of wing players | NBA on ESPN

And I figured out just by experience I can find the shortcuts and just playing in my face niic can do everything every night we see something new from the that was a ridiculous delivery from Y in my position I’m going to be Underdog old you know so that’s going to make me play

Harder welcome back to NBA Countdown presented by door Dash so yic and Murray they’ve assisted on 477 points scored by one another this season that’s the third most in the NBA and the Nuggets they’re also at scoring a poent by 14 points per 100 possessions with this Duo on the floor that’s the

Second best among 164 Duos to log a thousand minutes together the Nuggets they look Unstoppable I’m going to we’re going to take you guys inside the group chat a little bit before the All-Star break when they when they dropped three games we were texting like oh gosh do

They really miss Bruce Brown Jeff Green what’s going on with Denver is it all then Nicola yic said you know what hold my Slovenian beer and go nine and one since the All-Star break they look Unstoppable right now how do you slow them down Kendrick well one there no

Stopping yage but you need great depth at the big position right to be able to bang to be able to use fouls but the way you can stop Denver or the only chance you have is that you got to have wings and guards that can actually put Aaron

Gordon and Jamal muray somewhat in the straight jacket meaning keeping them right a little bit below average above average not good not great but you got to be able to contain them that’s the only way you could beat the Denver Nuggets and there’s only a few teams

That are out there right now that actually have that that type of uh Personnel at the wing and guard position that can actually handle those two yeah and per CH you know what makes Denver so unique is that they know exactly who they are they know how they want to play

They are so certain in their identity and there’s so many other teams around League who want to win a championship who want to Dethrone them who are still figuring that out because when you get deep into a playoff series in a game six a game seven you know that that joic

Murray Twan game you know they’re going to go to it and you know that it is virtually Unstoppable and and the Aaron Gordon and those guys around they’re key players and you mentioned the guys they lost in free agency Jeff Green Bruce Brown Christian Brown the young players

That Tim Connelly before and now Calvin Booth have brought in and Michael Malone has developed they have a group here that is just hard to get off balance and hard to find a way to really do anything um but in a deep tight Series against them know what they’re going to come at

You with yeah W you’re talking about a group that starting lineup that has the best plus minus in the NBA and on top of it perk you mentioned uh depth right yeah my coach at Stanford Tara Vander has something called prayer defense you know you just pray they miss it feels

Like the rest of the MBA is doing prayer defense but the truth of the matter is if it’s not depth it has to be defense and I think I look at teams like the Timberwolves the Celtics the Cavs that have the top three defenses in the NBA

That’s the only way you’re going to slow them down because this is the best passing team in basketball led by the best passer in joic but they’ve really taken on his entire identity they are number one and assist to turnover ratio they are number three and assist per

Game and so it has to be disruption depth defense disruption is the only way that you can physically stop that we we see a lot of quick fixed teams a lot of quick fixed teams in this league and the teams over time that had been great San

Antonio team you know the Golden State team the continuity in Denver from Michael Malone as their head coach they’re key players it matters and that’s what is makes them really hard to beat in a long playoff run and and and in a long playoff series The only thing

That could actually hurt the Nuggets within themselves is is that hunger right going after that first championship you have a certain level of desperation that you’re fighting for like sometimes you have Championship fatigue The Edge just don’t be there like you could be in the series and

Still try to you know when you first when you fighting for your first one and try to gut it out but then also you could be going trying to uh to repeat and then all of a sudden you don’t have that same Edge that’s the only thing speaking like the champion you are

Per [Applause] [Applause] p

Kendrick Perkins, Malika Andrews, Adrian Wojnarowski and Chiney Ogwumike discuss just how you can stop the Denver Nuggets.

  1. First she fucks up the country the beer is from, Jokic is here for a long time, they know he is Serbian, second, they never talk about how they are the best team and a generational team. They always talk like they are not supposed to be this good. This is why I hate ESPN.

  2. Props to NBA after all talk last year that it isn't international they added team from 3rd country and not just one but 2 teams from Texas

  3. imagine if she said hold the Belgian schljivovic brandy, the most important thing is that she guessed the right continent, which country he's from, it doesn't matter

  4. According to Shaq he's Russian, now Malika says he's Slovenian next week Perk will call him Chinese

  5. Slovenian? How does Malika still have a job??? Jokic is from Serbia!!! The only way that can beat Denver is is health

  6. ESPN is so pathetic and such Nuggets haters that they are making shows trying to help figure out a way one of there teams can beat them lol. It’s just sad

  7. It’s simple why the Nuggets are so great. Talent aside, Moach put the players in the position to simplify the half court while making the reads impossible (credit to obviously a high IQ Center and Jamal as a playmaker) because of the chemistry the players have. For example, I saw Jamal run Horns and had Jokic and AG as the options, then literally called an audible before the defense set for a 3. The fact that trust and sets are so purposeful and not forced is so great to watch. I see pundits praise Milwaukee for this style of play because they tried to replicate the style, and now, they criticize the Bucks for having a difficult time running double drags. Denver’s team committed to a style that’s now nearly impossible to guard. A kin to how the Warriors innovated the small ball offense and every team tried to overpay for shooting. Now, Denver is literally running an offense contingent on fundamental basketball and it seems some contenders can’t hang. Denver is a nightmare matchup against the conference, and they are definitely in a great position to run it back. Rare in this league, but this team can definitely do it.

  8. If the Timberwolves have a healthy KAT against Denver they have the best shot in the West of knocking off Denver. They were missing McDaniels and Reid last year and the difference they will make on defense against Murray and on offense off the bench could be the difference in whether they beat them or not if they make it that far. I don't think any other team in the West has a decent chance of knocking them off. Maybe the Pelicans, they're a sneaky dangerous team if healthy. OKC and the Clippers are too small. Phoenix is also small, but they have other issues too. You can never count out Steph and Lebron, but Denver still has a big advantage. Dallas is decent, but Denver would still be the heavy favorite. Is anyone scared of SAC? That's all of the top 10 teams in the west.

  9. Instead of hating on the bubble champion Dwight Howard stopped Jokic in the Wcf against D.N. now he's out the league 🤔 oh my bad LeBron started a pandemic to win another 💍

  10. Was this "Slovenian" just being a muppet or just pure disrespect?
Not knowing origin of the best player from your own league? Naah man.

  11. Americans dont get that if Nikola said that Malika is Mexican or Peruan , it would be a big deal. But they keep mixing Serbia with Slovania and Slovakia and so on.

  12. YOU STOP JOKIC BY MAKING HIM PLAY DEFENSE
IDK UNDERSTAND WHY GAMEPLAN IS NOT TO PUT JOKIC IN A PNR POSSESSION EVERY PLAY WHEN HES ON DEFENSE TIRE HIM OUT HES A BIG GUY TO RUN THE OFFENDE N PLAY DEFENSE UNLESS HES CONDITIONING LIKE THAT.
    THEN IDK
