What We’re Not REALIZING About The Oklahoma City Thunder

Here we are coming down the stretch of the 2023 2024 NBA season and the Oklahoma City Thunder as a team are having their best season since the Kevin Durant ERA this year they have an opportunity to finish with the number one seed in the western conference right

Now they do hold on to that number one seed with a record of 52 and 22 but the Denver Nuggets are hot on their Trail so every game for the remainder of this season for the Oklahoma City Thunder is going to be a must win game if they want

That homecourt advantage and we know how big time that’ll be in a very loaded Western Conference playoffs but nonetheless the Oklahoma City Thunder they’ve been nothing short of spectacular this year nothing short of impressive we just talked about them having that number one seed in a very talented Western Conference the the West

Is so loaded with big big time teams teams like the New Orleans Pelicans the Los Angeles Clippers um the Denver Nuggets the Minnesota Timberwolves so many good teams in the Western Conference and the Oklahoma City Thunder have been able to be the number one team and I think what’s been so impressive

About the thunder that they’ve been able to pass both the the eye test with flying colors and also pass the the the stats test because we know a lot of people like analytics and they like numbers but we’ve just seen the Oklahoma City Thunder play some very consistent

Basketball we’ve seen them come down from being big in games we’ve seen them beat the breaks off of teams and we’ve also seen them win in a bunch of Cl situations this year we all know they are one of the clutchest players in the NBA and Shay Gil Alexander also Jaylen

Williams and Chad H green are pretty clutch themselves so um they clashed the it test and flying colors in my opinion and then also we look at them statistically they rank at the top of the NBA in so many different things we look at three-point shooting which is so

Important in today’s game they’re number one in three-point field goal percentage and then number nine in the NBA in total three-pointers made per game so they’re hitting a three at a high clip and knocking down plenty of Threes like we said that is a good thing in today’s um

In today’s NBA we look at them in offensive and defensive rating they have both a top 10 defense and a top um and a top 10 offense as well eighth in the NBA when it comes to defensive rating and then also third in the NBA when it comes

To offensive rating and then some other things there at the top B second in the NBA in Stills per game and also second in the NBA and field goal percentage and then they’re also top five when it comes to turnovers per game they’re only averaging 11 turnovers per game so

Statistically watching them and um watching the Oklahoma City Thunder they look like a damn good team and they look like a team that can make a deep playoff run and something that I and I think something that’s going over um that’s g a little bit overlooked over the last

Month or so is that the the the new the excuse me the Oklahoma City Thunder have been able to um lock a new part of their team and that’s the better play of Josh giddy since the allstar break Josh giddy has been um playing much better than we

Saw around the first 50 games of this season and then also about over in the month of March and specifically over the last week as so Josh giddy you can make an argument that he’s been playing some of the best basketball in his NBA career and before we get into the elevated play

Of Josh giddy I just want to talk about his struggles a little bit and me personally I think his struggles are legit I don’t think it’s from a talent standpoint or anything like that I actually think Josh yidi is one of the more talented players in today’s NBA now

Let’s look at Josh giddy let’s look at his very small NBA career objectively for a second he was drafted in 20121 as a lottery pick the sixth overall pick and we all know when you’re a lottery pick you have a certain type of expectations um surrounding you when

You’re selected by a team but we look at his rookie year Shay Gil’s Alexander was a excuse me was a part of the Oklahoma City Thunder but he only played 35 games that year so Josh giddy had the ball in his hands a lot um he had he took on a

Lot of the playmaking responsibilities for the Oklahoma City Thunder and he had a pretty good rookie year and then second year Shay Gil’s Alexander is a lot healthier you also have the emergence of Jaylen Williams last season so that was something for Josh giddy to

Adjust to as well and it was a pretty good season for the Oklahoma City Thunder they won a lot more games than Josh giddy’s Ricky year and they were even and they were even able to get a win in the postseason winning the playing Tournament game against the New

Orleans Pelicans next game they fall short to the Minnesota timberwoods and now we get to this season and then Josh giddy his role takes a bit of adjust of an adjustment again Chad hren he comes back for the Oklahoma City Thunder and he’s been amazing this year and it’s

Kind of like Josh giddy he saw himself go from like being at the top of the food chain and now you can look at it like the fourth um like he’s the fourth option for the Oklahoma City Thunder but this year the Oklahoma City Thunder we’ve already established this earlier

In the video this is this could potentially be be their best year since they’ve had Russell Westbrook Kevin Durant and James Harden on their team as far as where they finish in the standings they have a real good opportunity to be the number one seed and majority and for majority of this

Season for majority of this ride has been with a struggling Josh Gideon now we’re at a point today is April 1st now we’re at a point where Josh giddy he just played his best month of the um he just played his best month of the season

In the month of March and we can start with the proof and the numbers with Josh giddy the first 53 games of the Season joshh giddy just averaged 11 points per game around five rebounds around four assists 44% from the field 32% from the 3point line and most of these numbers

Were a complete drop off from his sophomore campaign and then we we come back since the allstar break we’ve seen an increase in everything um 14 points per game still around five assists I mean still around five rebounds still around four assists per game and then the efficiency is where he really grew

54% from the field 38% from the three-point line and then we get to the month of March where Josh giddy has been playing his best brand of basketball all season long he’s increased his numbers to 16 points per game during the month of March to go along with six rebounds

And also five assists 56% from the field and then 40% from the three-point line and then over the um and I promise it’s the last of the numbers and and then over the over the over these last four games before the game against the New York Knicks where he dropped a triple

Double and a close meaningful game but before those four games against the New York Knicks Josh giddy was averaging 24 points to go along with eight rebounds six assists shooting over 60% from the field and 50% from the three-point line so Josh giddy the numbers um prove to us

That he’s been playing at a much higher level and I think these are impressive for for so many for so many different reasons and uh we we’re not going to beat on the beat around the bush we know this has been a season filled with adversity for the Oklahoma City Thunder

And we’re not going to get too much into that but we all know the allegations surrounding Josh Giddy and I just want to think it’s impressive that the Oklahoma City Thunder have been able to play at such a um at such a high level with with that type of thing going

Around with the team something like that could make it easily very easily to unravel especially with the way that Josh giddy gets treated by the fans on the road so I want to give props to the Oklahoma City Thunder to their coach as well that is big time so that’s another

Reason why I think this is impressive them figuring this out figuring out how to get over um that type of adversity hump and then also um over the last week or so Shay Gil just Alexander has been a little bit banged up dealing with that quad injury and Josh giddy has been able

To elevate his play with one of the best players on the team going through something so um I think that is a great sign for the Oklahoma City Thunder as well and then we just look at how Josh giddy has been doing this U one thing

That he has given himself credit for is getting back strong mentally as far as being confident in himself and his basketball and basketball abilities and we all know man it’s so easy even if you just playing pickup ball if you just playing with your friends playing with

Family it’s so easy that you can get psyched out of your game sometimes so I can only imagine how often that happens to NBA players when you’re playing at the highest level against the highest level of competition against I mean in front of all those people um I can

Imagine that you could lose your confidence um sometimes but nonetheless Josh giddy he’s been able to uh to get over that and he said once he got over there everything is starting to come easy to him again and that’s exactly what we just see Josh giddy doing we

Talked about him being that fourth asena Oklahoma City Thunder and with the um with the other four guys being so good around him as far as their ability to stretch the floor and then you got Shay gilis Alexander and Jaylen Williams with their ability to get downhill um it’s

Kind of hard to stop this offense so what teams have been doing is just leaving Josh giddy open because he is the um he is the least he is the weakest three-point shooter on the floor so they’ve been leaving him open and Dearing him to shoot the ball now Josh

Giddy now we just talked about him getting out of his head he stopped over he stopped overthinking it overthinking it and he’s taking exactly what the defense gives him now sometimes teams might elect to put a center on Josh giddy sometimes they might elect to put

A guard and Josh giddy has been a lot more aggressive and attacking those matchups if he does have a big on him he does have the speed Advantage he’s also been shooting those mid-range shots at a higher clip and he’s also been finishing around the basket as a higher CLI at a

Higher clip as well so he’s been able to take advantage of those mismatches whether there is a bigger excuse me whether it’s a bigger or a smaller guy on him and then also we just talked about how the three-point efficiency has gone up so with Josh giddy playing like

This it really takes the Oklahoma City Thunders offense to a whole new level so with that being said I think this is just a great aim for the Oklahoma City Thunder Josh giddy finding out how to be a threat on the offensive side of the

Ball again now you have him as a swing man catching the ball on the wing being able to attack being able to score the basketball and then also also also being able to be a playmaker for his teammates as well this just going to be so hard to

Stop the Oklahoma City ther they’re a team that can play in the half court they can play with Pace they can knock down the three-point shot they have a rim protector and then they have um they have four guys on the team that can go

Five Guys Five Guys that can go get you 20 plus points they have um four guys that can go and get you 25 plus points they have two guys that can go and get you 30 35 Plus points so the um Oklahoma City Thunder Man they’ve been so fun to

Watch this year so refreshing and I think they’re going to be a very dangerous team going forward into the 2024 playoffs which I cannot wait to see man so many intri intriguing matchups especially out in the Western Conference but that’s going to be it for today’s
