We’re suffering from success. Celtics have been really good for really long, after the Pierce/KG-Nets trade, we didn’t really have a lot of down years before being back close to the top of the conference. Even without winning a championship in that time, most other franchises would love to have the season’s we’ve had.
All that’s to say, it’s crazy how things get amplified for us. I would’ve assumed we were bottom 5 in clutch offense the way narratives get spun. It’s a blessing and a curse to be in our position, only thing that can make it stop atp is winning a championship.

If anything, we are due for some defensive regression in the clutch
We have quite literally been better in the clutch than we are as a team and even better than our starters have been specifically.

We’ve been good statistically, but I feel like what annoys a lot of us is that far too often, our offense changes in crunch time and becomes too predictable / more inefficient.
It’s always: give the ball to Tatum, who tries to make something happen and takes time off the clock, but then puts up an off-balance or contested shot as time expires.
It’d be interesting to see how the crunch time numbers change when we’re playing against other contenders.

This just tells me we still have some work to do as the number one W-L team in the league.

I think the Celtics are generally much better in the clutch than they have been and they are certainly better than they get credit for, but it’s worth noting that clutch time covers a lot of ground. If you need a refresher, clutch time is defined as any time in the final 5 minutes of a regulation or overtime when the score is within 5 points. The last 5 minutes still allows a lot of room for error.
On nba.com’s tracker you can reduce the number of minutes to refine your statistic.
So in the last 5 minutes the offensive rating is 122.
In the last 4 minutes it’s 121.2.
In the last 3 minutes it’s 120.3.
In the last 2 minutes it’s 120.9.
In the last minute it’s 102.3, which would rank in the bottom half of the league.
I feel like that tracks, if you consider all the final shot possessions where we don’t score.

So the team with the best offensive rating in the league is 6th in clutch time? Got it.
Dude – the Hawks games were a disaster. Just accept that & accept that it’s valid for people to call that out. I don’t really care what the statistics say when I’m watching the Jays dribble out the shot clock in isolation with my own two eyes.

To be fair, we are #1 in overall offensive rating, so this is technically a drop-off in the clutch.
In general, we are better than where we were a year ago but not good enough where I feel like we can have KD Warrior like confidence in winning it all
Dudeman-Jack
We are the number one offense but the sixth best clutch offense….so thanks for showing the Celtics are worse in the clutch than the rest of the game.

When it’s a one possession game with 1 min to go they have a losing record.
