Nikola Jokic Jokes with Wemby about Blocking Shots & More

Nikola Jokic Jokes with Wemby about Blocking Shots & More

A n what’s stood out about this game and why were you guys able to pull it out down the stretch um I think the defense was last a couple minutes like two 10 minutes was really good uh it was um interesting game I think we we we had to control the game

In the first quarter then they took a lead uh we were up one right in the halftime and then they took a lead um in the third quarter we were kind of playing behind they they were pushing they were pushing the pace um even on

The makes even when we make they had a lot couple easy couple easy um bad layups basically so we kind of needed to adjust like we didn’t adapt really quick on that and um it was rough and that that team play really hard and uh they uh they cut they

Cut really well they they run the plays really well so you know it’s hard to be the team who always play 100% what kind of improvement have you seen in W since last time he playing I mean you know it’s I think it’s still young it’s still

Early to say but you know he’s learning basically every game every every game is a new for him uh I think he is learning the matchups he’s learning the he’s learned learning the the like a floor balance he’s learning the who is guarding him you know it’s a

I think it’s for I think he just needs two games and then we got to figure it out you know I think he’s a he he you know Aon was guarding him basically the whole second half he’s our best defender he and kcp so I think that’s a show of respect

That we have toward him you know our best player the defensive player guard him basically the second half so um to to answer your questions I don’t know yet but U he’s I think he’s humble he’s working hard uh and he’s still hungry you know I think that’s the bad really

Good combination how much more sort of conscientious do you have to be in the post against him as far as getting the extra space when you put a shoulder into him for a shot or or even maybe altering the Arc of your shots just to count i l

I mean I of course I didn’t do a good job today he blocked my seven six seven shots uh but um you know he’s a special player and you always need to do a special or extra things to to score against those guys uh but um I think when he learns and

When he figures out it’s going to be a even bigger problem what was going through your head in the first quarter he had just blocked your shot you get the long Outlet pass and and you go for a quick D before he can contested going through your head is those final

Dribbles before you go up I mean I was just at least I’m going to be aggressive and try to dunk it like why not and then it was it was funny you say anything to him after there yeah if you block more shot I’m going to something but he he blocked like four

After that so I didn’t do anything about it they call Christian he had seven assist tonight he passed it out to Mike for that big time three just where have you seen some of the growth in terms of him just understanding and seeing the floor for you guys just in the second

Year you know when you’re driving and you see big guy over there it’s better to kick it out and he did a good job you know he he make advantage and that’s how you’re supposed to play I mean when you make advantage and uh some other guy

Helps and you just find open guy and hopefully we’re going to make open shots how valuable is Aaron Gordon’s toughness to to everything that you guys do I mean he’s a really big part of our our culture our identity you know the guy I always say the guy who is guarding

Every every night who is guarding the best player doesn’t being a small guard or shoer or a big man or like whatever you know he he’s he’s there to answer the call and um I’m going to say 80% of the night he’s doing a really good job you know so

And he tonight he he scored a lot but you know that’s I I always talk to him like some nights you’re going to score eight and somebody’s going to score 25 whatever but you know and I think he understand it that’s the best thing about him I always remember you

Talked about playing Tim D the first time and and it really made an impression on you I I believe do you ever think about that 10 years later now the next wave of players are coming in and you’re the Tim dunan of the year do you feel a responsibility when you go

Against these young to go hard or should I think I’m far away from t d my friend uh uh and uh if I wambi and no if Wei is no I don’t even what I wanted to say B did a much better job if I’m a Tim Duncan than

I did against Tim Duncan so i’ say like that Nicole I’ve asked you about the one seed before I try to phrase this a different way you guys just got back into the one seat and got six games left to go if it were up to

You would you play all the way through like play as many of those games as possible trying to get the one seed or or does that matter at all would you prefer staying healthy I mean of course stay healthy but um I think I’m going to

Play every game till till end just you know to stay in the Rhythm because we have a s days break basically after after after after what’s the name um play playing tournament yes thank you uh so but yes if I feel a little bit whatever

Off my goal is to play every game and that’s my mindset so if something happens I’m going to let you guys know thank you are good pleasure

  1. Wemby 2-11 from 3 and most of those horrible decisions. If he would have stuck to high efficiency shots spurs win. Glad he didn't lol. Keep chucking 3s Wemby! Go Nuggets!

  2. Wemby did a much better job if I am Tim Duncan than I did on Tim Duncan in my first season. Shows respect and doesn't mention the fact that he still managed to score 42 pts. That's how great players talk. LeBron could learn a few things.

  3. Scores 42 points, tells he did a bad job because 6-7 of his shots got blocked by an 7 foot 4 defensive monster.

  4. pure class Nikola. "wemby did much better against me than me against duncan." you cannot give a better answer. Ja, take notes.

  5. If the spurs get Alex Sarr and then couple of good trades …it’s gonna be a big problem for the west

  6. Duncan already had 3 championships when he was jokics age right now he's right dont compare them they're far apart from each other
