Toronto Raptors Media Availability | Postgame vs. Minnesota Timberwolves | April 03, 2024

Um what fell apart there do you think in the second half um first uh first uh uh quarter we were competitive we did a good job of uh preventing them to get out out in transition and run uh we made them a half court team and U you know

They scored 23 points I thought that that we had a lot of fight there I I thought that as the game was wearing on of us we were getting more and more tired uh and uh we just started turn turning the ball over and uh once we

Started to turn the ball over everything opened up for them uh running in transition scoring easy points Second Chance points from that point we we did not have enough to to to play against this type of uh Team when you guys do suffer kind of the worst loss in

Franchise history what is the conversation do that you have with the guys in the locker room after that it’s uh it’s uh tough I mean um we want to be competitive we want to to do our best uh it was really rough night uh all over um

You know uh we were down to only eight available players to play this game tonight um you know we got to turn the page and then focus on tomorrow and Coach I asked this respectfully but for you this is your first year first season um to go through the losing streak that

You know this team has gone through how are you personally doing in terms of just managing keeping other guys uh motivated coaches motivated um I mean we we uh close to the to the end of the regular season uh we have uh some seven eight games left over here uh you know

So we got to continue working we got to continue pounding you know it’s not uh the number of times you fall down is the number of times that you stand up and continue fighting and uh it is what it is right now but uh you know it’s every

Day is new opportunity to stand up and then keep keep fighting when you look at you know this team and and you know even signing someone new today and being undermanned and having rookies on the team and new new players that joined halfway through the season and injuries

And coming back how do you adjust your expectations with this group so that I guess nothing gets diminished or taken away from the effort that they are putting out there I mean it’s it’s really focusing on the small parts of it uh looking at the combinations of players what they’re doing they are

Small wins of uh calling the coverages we here play players out there they’re just joining our team and having them you know playing heavy minutes and try to contribute it’s it’s hard in itself you know uh so the most important thing is that this group stays together and

That they continue working and and fighting all the way to the end can you think back to an experience in your coaching career where things were kind of low for a consistent amount of time and what was it do you think that kind of P your situation out of it um it’s

Having healthy players available to play and work that you put in and daily process that you put in and then things really start to turn around thanks for watching the Toronto Raptor YouTube channel check out our latest videos and subscribe for more Trent answers back Gary Sid step [Applause] great got it

  1. No one is expecting us to win games, but there has to be some kind of standard for effort. I get positive vibes are important and all that, but who is leading this locker room and holding guys accountable for this terrible effort? If Kyle was still here, would he stand for guys like McDaniels jogging back on defence? Makes me sick.

  2. I understand losing but horrible effort. Grizzle’s beat the Bucks and wizards lost by 5 points to lakers tonight. Gosh and pleas waive or trade McDaniels. I hope he’s not in the team next season.

  3. Raptors tanking now for Edey? When the Raptors were healthy they were losing games. The Raptors 30th anniversary season in 2024-25 could be a big turnoff for the fanbase if a sub .500 Lottery bound team takes the court. Never should have traded Pascal when they got a very nice haul for OG. Pascal for Brown, Olynyk, Agbaji, Nwora, Ind 2024 FRP, Ind 2026 FRP = bench fodder and magic beans (non Lottery draft picks). Poeltl, Siakam, Barnes, Barrett, IQ was a nice starting five to build a bench around. Darko and his pizza party motivation tactics need to be replaced with a real proven NBA head coach. Darko couldn't win when he had OG, Siakam, Barnes, Poeltl, Schroder together. Darko is a good development coach just not a NBA head coach.

  4. Malachi "The Messenger" Flynn (18-25 fg, 5-9 3fg, 9-12 ft, 6 rebs, 5 ast, 3 stls) with a 50 piece special off the bench in 34 minutes tonight for Detroit against Atlanta.

  5. I stopped watching/following/being interested in anything Raptors months ago. What a disgrace and embarrassment. I have better ways to spend my time than watching this garbage. I'll spend my time and money on another form of entertainment thanks very much.
