Hey Mr. Green, you are overrated as a defender. Your on-ball defense is really not elite, weak at times on the perimeter. ItĀ“s not that you are 6Ā“10 and supposingly slow on your feet, you are about 6Ā“6 = guard size! You once said you are the best defender of all time but the only thing you are guarding well is coming from the weak side as help defender since you can read the game well. Elite defenders can guard the perimeter at your height, you canĀ“t! Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Giannis are all much better defenders!

As an older head I don't recall the "Matrix" being known for his defense but most important the system/eras are completely different. Their skillsets are completely different. Their responsibilities are completely different. Their impact to stat lines is completely different. TBH "Matrix" was having one of those awkward "Paul PIERCE" moments… "PP" thinks he's in the convo with the likes of Wade & Kobe smfh! Matrix sounds like he thinks he's better than Draymond & I'm sure even old heads would disagree with that. Bottomline, this is one of those things that "RETIRED" players do, especially in basketball for some reason!

What Marion is expressing ironically is his lack of understanding.
He said "everybody switching everything nowadays" as if that's a put down or an easier way to play defense. It's not. Just sticking to one guy all the time would get your team cooked in today's game. With how the game is called and with the increased complexity of modern offenses, it has never been harder to play defense in the NBA.
