I get that there’s probably some strategic benefit to being this way, but I wish the FO would stop being so fucking weird about injuries. It sucks as a fan being kept completely in the dark and then getting blindsided by bad news.
Also, a full-contact session 5 weeks ago sounds really aggressive—that would mean he was going full contact around the end of Feb/start of March, which was only a month after the injury. Kinda have to wonder how the rehab would’ve gone if his timeline were a little more conservative

This quote really stood out to me:
“I didn’t want to go through ‘what if I could play.’ I wanted to know for sure if I could or not. I had to give myself a chance to get back on the court for my team. I thought I could. That contact session derailed it.”
After reading this, I immediately thought about last szn and how Randle opted out of ankle surgery to come back early to help the team in the playoffs. The fact that he was willing to do it again this yr, after all the slander and hate he received for not playing well in the ‘23 playoffs is pretty remarkable. Most dudes would’ve been like fuck that, I’m not going thru that experience again. Thats how you know he’s willing to sacrifice everything for his team and this franchise.
I want some of y’all to think about that next time you wanna talk shit about him or say he’s not a leader. This dude def deserves respect.
If you still hating on Randle after all this, just go head and find a new team to root for.

I don’t think anyone is doubting his toughness or competitiveness. Respect him for trying to come back. Ready to get him back healthy next year.

Kobe called him a grown-ass man when he was a rookie, and with good reason.

I believe him 100%. Say whatever you wanna say about Julius, and we all know he has more than his share of critics, but dude is as hardworking and committed to playing basketball and trying to get out on the court to play and improve as anyone in the entire league. If homie is waving the white flag on the stretch run and playoffs and opting for the season ending surgery, I truly absolutely believe he did everything physically possible to try and come back for the playoffs and help this team win playoff games. Stay strong Julius 💪take the offseason to heal and recover to come back stronger than ever for what hopefully will be a season we can make a real title push in.

As someone who was lukewarm on Randle… I’m buying his jersey. Idc if he comes back next season and isn’t the same. He has given more to this franchise than he has received IMO. He’s been our scapegoat. He’s been our punching bag. In a lot of ways he reminds me of Jesus, taking the hate and only giving love back. Please come back.

I honestly have thought this was the end result for Julius for at least a few weeks now. Our poor dude simply has not processed a lick in his recovery in many weeks at this point. Just could never get the shoulder right enough to take that next step which would’ve been taking contact. Stuck at the same point in the rehab without being cleared meant his shoulder simply was not improving at all on its own without the surgical intervention, so once the progression of his rehab stalled out like it did, this seemed inevitable. The surgery always was, but of course we all hoped he could come back and delay it until after a deep playoff run.
Oh well, super unfortunate but injuries are a part of the game. Randle now can focus on getting healthy for the start of next season and hopefully be ready to help lead this team on a finals run. Good luck Ju! And as for the rest of us and the team, like we’ve thrived doing all season it’s next man up
