Coach Malone Full Post Game Press Conference vs. Clippers 🎙

Coach Malone Full Post Game Press Conference vs. Clippers 🎙

You in the first quarter that you guys had they do differently especially in the second and third quarters that led well yeah well actually started end of that first quarter you know they closed 7 to2 then they opened 10 to2 so that’s a 17 to4 run and then obviously

If you wanted to look at why we lost tonight obviously you can look at the free throws they shot I think 85 we shot 68 uh so he left a lot of points at the free throw line uh but that third uh second quarter as you mentioned scored

33 points that quarter shot 50 from the field um we just got to you know really look at that film because it seems like this happening a little bit too often right now uh those non niola minutes how can we survive those it’s hard when Jamal’s not here because usually he’s

Out there but um that was a really big big stretch of the game but could be couldn’t be more proud of the group for staying with it fighting through and giving ourselves a chance down the stretch and um obviously a couple of couple of calls couple of um shots go in

And out a Miss free throw here miss free throw there and I just came up a little bit short did you check in Gordon taking a couple really tough Falls and then fell on that drive scoring yeah I mean I was just talking with Michael to make

Sure he was all right I mean I got thrown out on that play I thought Michael was fouled up high and down low on the three-point attempt and uh when you watch the replay the way he fell and back on his leg you know that that was a

Little scary there then to your point Aaron Gordon you know last couple of games he’s a warrior and just his body is taking a lot of contact and a lot of hard Falls so I will check in with him as well to make sure he’s okay um but

You know you never want to lose a game but you know tonight wasn’t necessarily about a lack of effort you know it just we got to find a way to play 48 minutes that’s a A for effort my man A for effort that’s that’s pretty good You’ talked about this before in in

Being the son of a coaches so you heard it many times when the offense goes shots stop falling you’re not making shots defense has got to stay consistent and it seems like there’s been times you guys have had trouble with your offense that you almost hang your head

Defensively and that’s where you have those 33 18 quarters would you agree with that or is it well yeah I think in general I think that’s definitely the case a lot of a lot of players a lot of teams when the offense is not it’s easy right when

You’re making threes people pound the floor defense getting a stance but when you’re not making shots can you challenge yourself to have the same disposition and uh I think overall I mean I know in that second quarter you know that that’s when we kind of lost

The game if you will but you know to give up 102 points 38 from the field 21 from three I think the defense was outstanding tonight um but you know obviously there was that one stretch in the in the second quarter where uh the first six seven minutes where we dug

Ourselves we allowed them to get back in the game and then it was even throughout back and forth and we just weren’t able to pull it out you watch a million minutes and hours of film does it ever surprise you after you get done watching the film to see how how physical other

Teams are in theca and it’s just consistent every night then he still bounces back and has phenomenal games yeah I mean it’s um it’s eye opening because when you watch the film and you see the usage rate and the number of times that we post him up and play inside and we’re

One of the league leaders in paint points per game so we live in the paint we don’t shoot a lot of Threes not a jump shooting team and um you know then you look at the stat sheet and he’s you know five or six in the foul line so

Sometimes you know when you watch the film and that’s where you have great conversations with the league just talking about you know you know what constitutes a foul you know and how can Nia generate more free throw attempts because in our eyes obviously you know we think he’s playing to the basket very

Aggressively um and I understand it’s it’s you know it’s a very hard game to referee down there in the post a lot of contact and um you you just got to adjust to the whistle on on a game to game basis but uh nicoa is truly a

Marvel in terms of every night he knows he’s going to get beat up he knows he’s going to get hit and that’s just the nature of being down there and he’s the MVP so he’s going to get a lot of attention and the fact that he continues

To go right back down there never avoiding it speaks to his toughness and his understanding that that’s what we need from him you know but yeah Nico is just uh he’s never going to shy away from it and you got to love that about him and I know this will probably get

Solved when Jamal gets back but what have he liked about Christian Brown with the starters and kind of sliding in not necessarily the backup point guard position because so much has run through Joker what have you learned about him throughout this time well he’s he’s another kid that is just tough as Nails

I mean that’s one thing I love about CB is that you know you you can get caught up in stats sometimes and analytics but for me sometimes just like um you know I’m going to play guys like we always say kyp you know I think it kyc know

Your coach and he’s a tough kid he’s not going to back down he’s going to he’s going to if he makes a mistake it’s going to be an aggressive mistake um and he’s done a really admirable job with Jamal being out seven points eight rebounds three assists one steal um and

You trust him out there I mean that’s that’s those are two things that if you can say about somebody you trust them and he’s got tremendous toughness I know for me I can’t speak to other coaches but you know uh he’s going to be on the

Floor for us and that’s why he was on the floor to close tonight because he’s he’s a tough kid man he’s not going to take a backward step one more question I know you don’t want to read too much into any like one crunch time possession but between the play where Aaron drove

And slipped and then on the final play it looked like pton Watson was trying to push it before the timeout was called how do you balance that kind of like opportunistic pushing in late game situations versus when you have closers like Joker like Jamal when he’s out

There like this group that won the title balance those things yeah it’s really hard obviously U and the one you mentioned about Aaron um it’s a open court play um their Cross Match in transition zubot goes to Aaron and I think Paul George Goes to uh Nola and so

You never fault the guy for being aggressive Aaron’s trying to make a play to the rim downhill it’s not like he stopped and shot a pull up three so he’s trying to put pressure on the defense and unfortunately he winds up turning the ball over so yeah it’s easy in

Hindsight to say well the ball’s got to Nico go to ni he’s got Paul George on him you know but you know you know Aaron’s done so much for this team and I trust him to make the right play and unfortunately didn’t go our way the last

Play that you allude to is a really tough one and I’m sure put David Adam in a tough spot you know taking over for me so he he in that ensuing timeout he puts in pton Watson for Michael Porter for a defensive possession and uh

So now you have a a question to ask when you get the stop you got to take the timeout right away to get Michael Porter back in and Advance it or you’re just saying hey Michael Porter is not going to be in the last possession and go with

It and there was that little moment of indecision so now we can’t Advance the ball we took the dribble then the timeout was called and now you got to take it at three quarter court and then we really don’t get a great look at the

End of the game so um it’s tough in a lot of those situations especially when you have your horses when when you get a stop I like to go with it I don’t want them to be able to on a timeout dead ball get their best defensive players in

The game and uh allow them to pull up a play that we may run and go to to try and take us out of it but you know that’s the way it broke tonight and uh again as I the first thing I told our players is I apologize for getting

Thrown out I think he only made one of the free throws but in a close game you know I got to be there to help them at the end of the game and uh you know that’s on me I just felt like it was needed to fight for our guys fight for

Michael Porter and um you know but as a leader of this team I got to be more composed and being in there to help them get through that crunch time thank you thanks everybody

  1. I'm honestly glad that you proved your point and got ejected, respect to you. I think the audio is broken though.

  2. That was an extremely dangerous foul by zubac against MPJ. It’s the same play in which zaza pachulia injured kawhi Leonard.

  3. i do not have any word about tonight, is anyone can teach me what is different between good no call and foul? refer at least miss 5-7 calls to nuggets and 3-4 calls to LAC. so, is it fair?

  4. Zubac & PJ Tucker almost assaulting Jokic, & no fouls. PG did offensive foul on AG, & it was AG who got the foul. Terrible officiating all over. Denver could not win when refs preventing them to win.

  5. The non-Jokic minutes, specifically bench production isn’t scoring enough with only 9 points. If the Nuggets don’t win another title this season (even if they do win the title) they’re going to fix that glaring issue.

  6. Only Nuggets fans know and understand how respectable Malone is. Guy never complains about refs. Always phrases it how can he do better. Love Malone! Best coach in the NBA.

  7. Only one person has a desire to win, other playing vey horrible…. Bench are very worst… can’t win a game like this…

  8. Rest these guys coach…whether we finish 2nd or 3rd its fine. But if they arent healthy-it doesnt even matter if we finish 1st.

  9. It’s like the nuggets have to win twice, against the team they’re playing and the referees
