I think other teams can come over the top for him, and with all the smoke surrounding NY I have a feeling the Cavs don’t want to send him over here. They’ll only do it if they feel like they’re doing right by Spida to send him where he wants, and even then he’s mentioned Miami as a destination. The Heat have more assets playerwise to give up. The Knicks would have to send a ton of picks to get Spida and there’s still the concern that he and Brunson can’t play together based on how the fit with Garland has gone so far.
With that said I’d love to have him here. I think they could make it work.
Has anyone gone over what Spida looks like for our cap situation? We gotta re-sign IHart. How are we gonna afford this without going over 1st apron? How would we even play both Brunson and Spida? Both are undersized guards that are not great defenders. What would we end up doing with McBride in that situation? Would Spida’s ego let him come off the bench?
I think the biggest problem in even thinking about getting Spida is fit and whether he can deal with not being the main focus of the squad. A lineup of Brunson, Spida, OG, Randle, and IHart/Mitch is crazy though, but clearly someone would need to be traded to make it happen.

A lot of this comes down to who Leon Rose decides his white whale is gonna be. He chased Spida pretty hard 2 summers ago, and whether people like it or not – there’s been multiple rumors of him interested in KAT. And if he wants KAT – Randle is a goner as part of that deal.
Same scenario every summer coming up in 2 months – is this the year Leon cashes in all those picks?
IMO – I would still go hard after Spida, would pass on KAT. Have always thought the narrative by some here that Spida doesn’t “move the needle” has been way overblown as if having him instead of Grimes or RJ would send the Knicks back to the lottery. Spida is a damn good player and I hope the Knicks get him.
