Joe Mazzulla: Kings COMEBACK vs Celtics Was ‘Fun’ | Postgame Interview

BOSTON — After the Boston Celtics narrowly defeated the Sacramento Kings 101-100, Head Coach Joe Mazzulla shared his thoughts on keeping the bench group in during the late stages of the game as the Kings mounted a comeback: “This is fun. This is awesome. Couldn’t simulate a better environment of stress. Chaos… That’s why, when those guys are in, you hold them to the same standard as everyone else.” Mazzulla’s comments highlight his belief in the importance of maintaining high standards and embracing challenging situations as opportunities for growth.

  1. a perfect environment for practice, ouch to the kings for a must win game not too be in the play in.

  2. It's a beautiful thing when a son gets to be by his Dad's side in a teachable moment.

  3. Joe Mazzulla is the only NBA that's like one of the players. Maybe it's because he's not much older than the core players so he can kind of relate to them more

  4. Mazzula has a lot to do with the success of this team. Unfortunately, late game execution and too many 3’s by his starters will be his and the Celtics demise

  5. Joe is the man and this game was a statement game..got rest for starters and just boosted the confidence and morale of his bench right before playoffs

  6. Seeing how Mazzula refused to put the starters out shows that Mazzula wants to make sure everyone knows how to work under pressure

  7. People don’t realize that we have clinched and why would you want to play your heart out in meaningless games? Use this time to experiment before the playoffs and make sure everyone is healthy. Plan ol fair weather fans

  8. I am starting to come around on Mazzulla. I love the fact that he kept the bench in and did not cave in under pressure. Payton got double teamed by the Kings’ starters. He struggled at that point but he needed that experience. You could see that some of them were ready to give up but Pritchard was not having any of that.
