Refs deciding a great game whatâs new
That was a bs call in that moment
That was such a bad drawn out play!
50/50 call by the ref. Tough call. The screener had her feet set but her arms were still moving towards the defender. I don't think the offensive foul should have been called, but congrats to Iowa. They earned it.
Bull Shit
South Carolina will be them donât worry
Lebron and everyone who are complaining about that call need to shut up that was a foul an illegal pick with a little shove any day of the week and twice on Sundays the ref got it right.
Bad call. Do you want to elevate womenâs basketball or not ? I want excitement, not ref whistles at the end of the game to decide it. Do better.
It it wasnt called and UConn made a GW shot, people will cry about of a non call on illegal screen.
Great call by ref at the end. Edwards made a stupid foul, that is what we should be talking about. UConn fans before the game were like, Paige gonna dominate. Now they are just crying.
Edwardâs barely leaning? Dang she almost knocked her to the floor, crushing mistakenly by Goldie Lockes. Iowa played smarter in this game. No wonder UConn Coach was having a meltdown. He knew mental mistakes cost them this game.
It's obvious both the refs, as well as the media, had an obvious bias. You don't make that call in that situation. At any level, Y-league, NBA, collegiate, overseas, pro-am, pickup ball; no matter the gender, men's or women's game, you simply don't make that call at that time in the game under those circumstances. It's not just an unwritten rule, it's widely understood you let players decide the outcome in those moments.
Nah I watched both Iowa games and the calls feels like somebody wants Caitlin Clark to be in it. She gets them jordan calls them LeBron calls.
SmhâŠ. This was HORRIBLE!!
refs ball
LET THE PLAYERS DECIDE THE GAME!
This is a beautiful video from Gardening with Kirk
Feet not set, upper body moving, forearm extended. What's the controversy here?
Anyone citing Uconn blowing a lead is completely missing the point. It was a bad call. Just cause they failed to keep the lead doesn't mean the refs can make a bad call that takes away their opportunity to win the game.
Awful foul call
Yâall think âtheyâ have this one to Clark?
Gino robbed UConn. The refs were correct: Under the rules of basketball a screener must have feet set, can't lean into a player, can't stick elbows into ribs. It's a clear foul impacting a key play. Correct call.
The ''eye test'' reason people don't like it is because it's like a 'slow motion' foul, just inches of movement cause it, instead of being a hacking or running full speed foul. There were much much lighter touch fouls called earlier in the game, for example Caitlin's 4 point play when the UConn player barely touched her fingers after the ball left her hand, or in the first half when Clark was also called for two very light finger touch fouls. (There is no outcry about the touch fouls called on Clark though, the media infecting people with the anti-Clark narrative – still in denial that a girl from Iowa could break every record and beat every loaded five star team).
The refs did an okay job for once, despite allowing UConn to get away with a lot of heavier fouls while playing on the nose shove and pull man-to-man full court while calling Iowa for light touch fouls. Don't believe me, watch the tape.
The real travesty for Uconn was the play calling where genius Gino calls a play where Aaliyah, who moves slowly laterally, has to establish a screen against the fastest lateral movement player on the court, Marshall, in congestion against the sideline instead of just running a simple pick-and-roll at the top of the key where Paige would have room to work. One of his many mistakes.
UConn was lucky to be in this game at all and only because of Iowa's unusually low shooting percentage. If Iowa shot as they normally do they would have won by 10 to 20 points. Immense credit to the UConn D that threw Iowa off balance, and the refs that let them do so. Then…
Iowa Team Play Makes a Hard Fought Comeback Against Loaded All-Star Team should be the headline.
The sub story should be : The Entire UConn Team Holds Clark Below a Triple Double While Gabbie Marshall Alone Corrals Paige
39.3 seconds left oops UCONN gonna win nah cant let Lil Ms Catlin lose this game that OVER HYPED media darling. Sorry folks that is how modern sports is. ( FACTS )
Kate Martin is tough as nails, and came through huge in the end. Stuelky and Gabbie Marshall came through as well. Even if you hold Caitlin to just 20 points, the rest of the team finds a way to come through. Uconn is a very very good team as well. Great game all around
it's crazy how I get to enjoy womans college basketball than the lesbian league….. I don't watch it anyways, just videos of people making fun of themđđđ
yeah, the elbow did it
It was an obvious foul. She basically tried to football-block her.
LSU fan here: Did you all really think think the NCAA Women basketball was not going to get that wh' girl Clark in the Finals. Come on man!! That a guy and not a girl! Iowa was in the finals already. Now they are about to 'Jack' South Carolina lolol
Felt a bit like an engineered ending, but okayâŠ
They usually don't make that call at that time
Hannah got a reprieve đ twice
Chop it Dice it anyway you like
UConn girl set a legal screen then went aggressive mode and Whiplashed the Iowa girl.
Can u say Stooopid?
Ref made right call
I didn't see the game live, but I heard all the hype about the final foul. Saw the video above. Clearly an illegal screen. UConn, you had a great season. Well done. But that was a fair call.
The ncaa and the media got the match up they wanted. Had to fix a call to do it, but hey. Sure that ref got well compensated for tossing the game.
Rigged
Refs absolutely carried them with that offensive foul call. Made sure to get Caitlin Clark to the championship. Sheâs too important for ratings and money to let UConn even have a chance to defeat her at the end, so they took away that chance with a blatantly wrong call.
Rigged for Clark to win
Can we talk about Muhlâs box out on that free throw? What was that?!
You go up by 15 and you lose you got no body to blame but yourself
That was so obvious. Edwards stepped into her then blew her up with her shoulder.
What do you mean she's barely leaning she f**** put all her body weight into that freaking pick and smoke that girl you seen her body fly I mean who cares if she's a little white girl and there's a huge monster black girl that's there it's still a f**** foul talking about she barely hid her shut up that's like LeBron James against John Stockton
It's like LeBron James against John Stockton I mean it's a freaking foul
