[Slater] Here’s Steve Kerr on Jonathan Kuminga’s 21-point, 10-rebound return and the choice to currently have him come off the bench. Kerr said he plans to keep starting TJD next to Draymond. (1:38)

Draymond is better at the 4 than the 5 so makes sense for him to come off the bench

Jk is going to get minutes coming off the bench or starting. We saw this with Klay. If anything I think this has the potential to make jk more deadly since he will most likely not be going against the other teams best center, clogging his lanes.

Kuminga is an elite scorer, but the issue with Kuminga is he takes away the Rythm from guys like Klay/Steph. He’s more dominant as an ISO player, who can occasionally set up plays when he is double teamed. He also doesn’t offer as good of spacing as Klay, so Steph had to workout a lot smarter and harder to get open shots. The real reason why JK started was because of Andrew Wiggin’s historically shitty start to the season. Our defense is dare I say elite now that we have TJD as a rim defender and the ability to keep Wiggs on the floor while still having our offense flow well.

Very interesting to see if JK has to come off the bench for three more years. Every decision made this year of importance came because somebody was out.

JK brings instant offense by himself, reminiscient to me of Shaun Livingston

Jk is a much better offensive player than Wiggins rn. However wiggs is a much better threat from outside and is a wayyy better defender than kuminga. So I think wiggs should start but kuminga should get about the same number of minutes as the rest of the starters while coming off the bench.

Hate to say it but I hope when Kerr says, “if jk plays like he did tonight then we’ll have to figure it out” he doesn’t mean “unless he’s shooting 80% from the field I won’t play him extended min.”
Jk needs a green light. The lineups with him, curry, Wiggs, and dray went 10-3, had incredible plus minus and defensive metrics, we’re blowing out bad teams instead of barely beating them, and only stopped working once curry got hurt and Kerr stopped closing with the lineup. That group is elite, it is additive defensively. They magnify strengths and cover weaknesses. Klay and tjd should be brought off the bench for 20 min with cp3.

It’s a good idea as long as he plays ALOT. He can catch me off the bench and still get heavy minutes.
