Rudy plays with 4 other players that are also in the top 15 in defensive rating.
When rudy is off the court, wolves are still ranked 1 in defense
Spurs without wemby is last in the league in defensive rating. Spurs with wemby, they are 4th in the league.
Wemby has more blocks than the last 3 DPOYS combined Wemby averages 1.2 more blocks than rudy and has played more than 300 less minutes. I know everyone says blocks are overrated but this is not even counting the hundreds of times the player dribbled away from the rim at Wembys presence. Blocks should be much more valuable in today's NBA where everyone shoots more and more away from the rim. Heck, JJJ literally just won his dpoy for his blocks last year.
Wemby should not be punished for his team being horrible. All stats show that wemby makes the greatest difference defensively when he is on and off the court. And these stats are not even counting the times he made impressive defensive performances like 10 blocks in a game, 9 blocks on Denver, and he also just made the clutch block on the pels to win the game. He also blocked joking a few times and joker dunked 3 times in 1 half, the more than he he dunked all season. That should tell you about his defensive presence.
If anyone ever in the history in the nba deserves to win DPOY in their rookie season it's Wemby. I cannot think of what else he can do more in today's NBA for a rookie to win a DPOY. It wasnt under his control to be playing for the worst offensive team in the league. And even with that team, He is literally outputting historical numbers.
