arvydas was truly ahead of his time. The nba never got to see a healthy version of arvydas let alone a somewhat healthy version.

Someone needs to do a DNA test. Wemby’s dad must have cheated with Sabonis.

None of these kids will never know anything about how good PRIME/PEAK Sabonis was

Time to pull out my throwback Zalgiris jersey

Ah, a 2-for-1 Blazers pain post. You love to see it

  6. Why does Sabonis look so much smaller than he did in the NBA? Every time I see his NBA clips, he’s like a mammoth. He looks somewhat regular here.

Bro what, just pointing out if anything for just as accurate if not more comparison, you need to do a side by side of Luka pulling the same thing on a step back three to his left and then talking shit on the way back.

There’s literally hundreds of examples to pick from. Just throwing it out there because it would be disrespectful for a Sabonis comp to not say it.

Yooo thats Drazen Petrovic, #10, white jersey.

Never noticed it before but Sabonis (just like his son) have quite a small wingspan for his height especially. It looks very much average.

He’s kinda like if you just took a picture of an average man and scaled him up by 25%

How does one find a comp like that…? I doubt anyone said “hey, that move reminds me of Arvydas Sabonis from 40 years ago.”

Fun fact: Sabonis in 1996 all star rookie game (31 y/o), had 8 points and 3 rebounds…. in 4 minutes haha Blazers did not want him to get injured etc. Everyone else on his team played 16-28 minutes.

🙌🏼 Instilling this energy on his son 🙌🏼

How did you recognize this decades old play? Is it common knowledge that Wemby has been studying old Sabonis tape? Of course all players learn from the past but I think it’s crazy you caught this specific comparison

I’m just confused as to how a person saw Wembys shot and said “I’ve seen Sabonis shoot this exact same shot in an old grainy video”

Arthritis Sabonis was amazing. I watched that guy on the Blazers with like one working knee, at best. He was still amazing.

That’s my old move! I used it on Estelle forty years ago! I told everybody about it! Everybody knows, *Hmmph* I stop short!

  17. dublecheekedup

Wemby’s release point makes Sabonis’ look normal lol

Sabonis is such a legend as a Lithuanian I’m very sad I never got to see him play live

  19. loco_mixer

its just that sabonis was a giant that was proportionately sized. he looked like a normal guy if you didnt see him with anybody else.

I’m getting old, can’t stop noticing the casual uncalled travel calls.

This really just shows how Arvydas Sabonis was ahead of his time. An amazing playmaker and passer. Would have loved to see him play in the NBA in his prime, but he was still really good in his older years. I’m really happy we are able to see his son in his prime, and also happy that we get to see Wembanyama develop in the NBA.
