Jimmy has become my second favorite player in franchise history; he’s an icon for this team and frankly has been a huge inspiration for a ton of people (myself included) with his work ethic and ability to always find a higher gear.

That being said, a supermax extension for 35+ year old Jimmy is not a good idea. He’s been massive in the playoffs for Miami, but you give extensions based on projected future performance, not past performance. And there’s no reason to believe he’ll be worth that money going forward.

Again, I love Jimmy, but I hope the FO takes into account the future of this team during contract negotiations.

I just don’t think we can super max Butler or honestly even come close. He will be 35 and older with this extension. We already see him missing games during the season, and when he does play there a still a decent amount of games it looks like he’s just checked out of it maybe doesn’t care at the moment.

I can also see Jimmy getting upset we won’t give him that big deal and then all hell could break loose. But we will be a stupid franchise if we max him.

This FO was strong enough to let our icon in D-Wade walk to Chicago over a big extension. I hope they keep the same composure with Jimmy especially factoring his lack of availability recently and discouraging performance. Only thing that warrants Jimmy that kind of extension is if he is able to carry this team to the finals again.

Unless the Heat win the championship this year getting that amount is not happening

Why tf we talking about the offseason already

Heat did not pay DWade and let him walk , I doubt they would overpay Jimmy. This is business.

giving Jimmy the max extension while also trading away the youth..

If he doesn’t have a superstar playoffs, I don’t think we make that offer.

Sorry Jimster, if thats how you plan to move then its been a great run and I’ll miss your charisma and beauty but I’m a Heat fan first.

Yeah fuck that! I love what Jimmy has done for us over the past 5 years. He’s already starting to show some decline recently. Thats money you give to guys like Luka, Ja Morant & etc.

Extending Jimmy to major money after his age 36 season doesn’t sound smart. Love Jimmy but unless you’re Lebron there’s no wing who has ever lasted and been productive that far into their 30s lol

Depends on how he performs in the playoffs this season

If he brings us home that Larry o’Brien this year, he’ll get that extension and his jersey hung.

Anything over 2 years would be shooting ourself in foot during Bams last Primes years….

Jimmy provides another postseason masterclass doe and I think it happens

The writing was on the wall when they didn’t go all in on anyone this summer. I’m here for it. It’s unfortunate that Jimmy and Bam just didn’t end up having their skillsets really start to mesh until Jimmy started to decline. Bam with a 3 ball even last season to pull out AG and Joker might have changed the direction of that series. Anyhow I think that we’ll be able to definitely get someone 2026. Riles got it setup with Bam and Tyler setup.

  16. Max him! With team option in place of his player option in two years and then team option every year after. Make him bet on himself
